Abstract

The study is aimed to estimating the household saving model appropriately applied in Semarang city.A cross-section household survey was conducted in Semarang city. The survey included two hundredand seventy selected samples and 5 stratified occupational background of the head of the family; (1)farmer and fisherman, (2) labor, (3) businessman, (4) civil servant, military members, and police officers,(5) retired persons and others. Life Cycle Hypothesis (LCH), Permanent Income Hypothesis (PIH), LifeCycle – Permanent Income Hypothesis (LC-PIH) and the extended LC-PIH, estimated with the log-linearOLS method, were employed to analyze and select the best household saving model. The estimationresult showed that the best model was LC-PIH II, whereas the best model in accordance with the type ofoccupation was the following (1) Labor: LC-PIH III, (2) Businessman: PIH, (3) Civil Servant, MilitaryMembers, and Police Officers: LC-PIH II and (4) Retired Persons and others: LC-PIH II. The synthesizedmodel of LC-PIH gives an important contribution on the household saving model. Besides, study in thesame field with the two additional variables in the LC-PIH model (insurance and rational expectations) aswell as five stratified occupations had not been conducted. Finally, further study is needed, especiallythose which include more specific sample and the usage of different model and stratification.Keywords: household saving, occupation, LC-PIH model

Abstract

The agricultural/ agribusiness sector is the centre of the stateseconomies. This sector contributes a large share of GDP, employs a large proportion of the labor force, represents a major source of supplies the basic food, and provides subsistence and other income for the large rural populations.Food security, or rights to food, is defined as access to sufficient and affordable food which can relate to a single household or to the global population. Despite political commitments to reduce world hunger, the number of people lacking access to the "minimum dietary energy requirements" (World Food Program, 2009). Sustainable of food security need to ask for entrepreneurship and managerial skill on agribusiness agent. That could be real if all of element (farmer, government, businessman, college, and stakeholders) always to cooperation and coordination.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the climate change and the global warming like changes in the pattern and distribution of the rainfall give impacts on agricultural production at large, especially in the food crops. These also cause droughts, floods, landslides, forest fires, rising temperatures in urban areas, and rising sea levels. The above impacts are felt by the farmers because those can lead to a decrease in production even the crop failure. This research aims to develop an empowerment strategy of the food crop farmers in anticipating the climate change in Central Java. The data used is the primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with key-person and the Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP) is conducted to determine the program priorities and strate gies. The result of research shows that anticipating the climate change should be synergistically conducted in four aspects: human resources, technology, institutional and production, by involving various groups in the society. Various groups can be grouped into academics, businessmen / private sectors, government and community of food crop farmers / society.

Abstract

Abstract

This study will discuss the agribussiness potency, prospects, problems and the efforts that should be done for the food sustainability.Sektor agribisnis mempunyai peranan penting dalam proses pembangunan ekonomi. Kontribusi sektor ini dalam pembangunan ekonomi antara lain meningkatkan produksi pangan untuk konsumsi domestik, sebagai penyedia tenaga kerja terbesar, memperbesar pasar untuk industri, meningkatkan supply uang tabungan dan meningkatkan devisa. Sampai saat ini, peranan sektor pertanian di Indonesia begitu besar dalam mendukung pemenuhan pangan dan memberikan lapangan kerja bagi rumah tangga petani. Peran dan potensi sektor agribisnis yang demikian besar dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan di masa yang akan datang masih harus menghadapi berbagai tantangan dan permasalahan kompleks. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan upaya-upaya untuk tetap eksis. Studi ini akan membahas tentang potensi, prospek, permasalahan serta upaya yang perlu dilakukan sektor agribisnis dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the efficiency level of organic vegetable farming technique in Batang Regency. Twenty seven organic vegetable farmers were taken as samples with saturated samples (census). Stochastic frontier production function has been used to analyze data with the help of frontier 4.1 software. The results of this research indicate that the Efficiency level of organic vegetable farming production in Batang Regency has not been so efficient that there is still a chance to increase the production of organic vegetables. Land area and the use of manure are proved to significantly affect the production of organic vegetables in Batang Regency. Seeds, labor and organic pesticides have no significant effect on the production of organic vegetables in Batang Regency. To increase the efficiency of organic vegetable production in Batang Regency, it is necessary to have the role of stakeholders to provide socialization, mentoring, and facilitation in organic vegetable farming.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim di sektor pertanian tanaman pangan dan hortikultura  pada umumnya mempunyai tiga dampak, yaitu : Banjir, Kekeringan dan Serangan Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (OPT). Dampak ketiga hal tersebut di atas mengakibatkan sektor pertanian, khususnya padi  mengalami penurunan produksi (kuantitas maupun kualitas) atau bahkan kegagalan panen.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan mapping daerah rawan perubahan iklim khususnya untuk tanaman padi di Jawa Tengah. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder yang berasal dari Dinas Pertanian Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Statistik deskriptif digunakan untuk proses analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  daerah  sangat rawan banjir untuk tanaman padi di Jawa Tengah meliputi Kabupaten Cilacap dan Jepara;  daerah  sangat rawan kekeringan adalah Kabupaten Cilacap, Pemalang, Semarang, Demak, Grobogan, Sragen, Rembang, Pati dan Kota Semarang.  OPT yang  menyerang tanaman padi di Jawa Tengah terdiri dari WBC, penggerek batang, tikus dan tungro.
