Abstract

Pemberdayaan masyarakat merupakan sebuah metode dalam upaya membangun kemandirian masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan hidup. Menciptakan kemandirian masyarakat dimulai dari lingkup keluarga. Tujuan program adalah untuk menumbuhkan kemandirian masyarakat secaraholistik baik lingkungan, ekonomi, dan kesehatan. Sasaran program adalah warga RW 3 dan RW 12 di keluarahan Pamoyanan Bogor Selatan. Program yang dilakukan meliputi penyuluhan dan cek kesehatan, pembuatan hidroponik, dan pengembangan produk ekonomi lokal. Metode yangdigunakan meliputi ceramah dan diskusi (penyuluhan dan cek kesehatan), tutorial (pembuatan hidroponik), dan pengembangan media pengembangan produk ekonomi lokal). Pengolahan data menggunakan analisis univariat untuk mendeskripsikan hasil program. Hasil program menunjukkanbahwa persentase penderita hipertensi 26,3%, penderita diabetes 28,9%, sebagian besar (55,5%) dari peserta yang hadir telah menanam hidroponik, dan peningkatan penjualan produk > 100% dari penjualan awal. Program-program yang dilaksanakan memiliki dampak positif bagi masyarakatdengan terdeteksinya penyakit degeneratif, kemampuan budidaya tanaman dengan metode hidroponik, dan peningkatan produk ekonomi lokal melalui pengembangan media.

Abstract

DAYU KURNIAWAN. Control of Saprolegnia sp. in Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) withDifferent Water Salinity. Under academic supervision By SURYANTO DWI and RIRIEZRANETI.Water quality in fish culture is one of the most important factor that have to bemaintained. Unproper maintained of water quality may result on increase of diseaseprevalence to the fish. One of the disease affected tilapia culture is saprolegniasis caused bySaprolegnia sp.. This study aimed to determine the growth of the fungus Saprolegnia sp. in tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus) in different water salinity as well as to determine the optimum salinity levelsto inhibit the Saprolegnia sp. growth. The growth rate, feed efficiency, survival, fungal colonies,temperature, pH, and DO was measured. The study was conducted with 3 replications and 4treatments, ie 0 ppt, 5 ppt, 10 ppt, and 15 ppt.. The result showed that growth rate were from 0,7 ?2,9%, feed efficiency ranged from 30,99 ? 61,05%, the survival rate ranged from 6,67 ? 90 %and fungal colonies decreased to range between 2,33 ? 8,67. Temperatures ranged from 24,9? 26,1°C, pH ranged from 8,3 ? 9,0, DO ranged from 6,5 ? 7,0 mg/l. Abstract

Disease prevention in fish using chemicals or antibiotics leads to microbial resistance. One alternative to control the fish disease is to use plant extract. The aim of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of lotus seeds (Nymphaea pubescens L.) on pathogenic bacteria and fungi in fish. The lotus seed was extracted with several solvent, such as n-hexsane, ethyl-acetate, and methanol. Antimicrobial activity assay was carried out using disc diffusion method. Phytochemical preliminary test was done to determine seed chemical compounds. The brine shrimp lethality test was utilised to determine the extract toxicity. The result showed that all extracts inhibited Aeromonas hydrophila, Streptococcus agalactiae, and Saprolegnia sp. growth to some extent. The extract was to inhibit more to S. agalactiae with inhibition zone of 10.72 mm. In general extract of n-heksana was to inhibit more to the test microbes. Cytotoxic activity (LC50) was <1000 ?g/ml. Preliminary test of phytochemical compound showed that extracts of lotus seed contains alkaloid, fenolic, glicoside, saponin and steroid/terpenoid.Keywords: Antimicrobial activity, microbial pathogenic, Nymphaea pubescens L.

Abstract

The bacteria in fish can be found on the surface of body and the digestivetract. Some bacteria in digestive tract contribute to feed digestion by producesenzymes. Probiotics have been used to influences feed digestion and to inhibitionpotential pathogenic bacteria in fish. In this study, isolation of potential probioticbacteria from gourami stomach and intestine and assay of potential probiotic toinhibition Aeromonas hydrophila has been conducted. Bacteria isolation wasconducted using Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA) Media. Starch Agar (SA) and SkimMilk Agar (SMA) media to hydrolyze starch and casein tests. The result showed17 isolates hydrolyzed starch and casein. In addition, the isolates indicated toinhibit A. hydrophila. Morphological and biochemical tests showed 4 isolate ofpotential probiotic bacteria in the stomach and intestine of gourami (Osphronemusgouramy), were Bacillus cereus, Bacillus firmus, Bacillus coagulans, andMicrococcus sp.. Abstract

This study was aimed to know antimicrobial potential of extract of mangosteen rind(Garcinia mangostana) against bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwardsiella tarda andfungus Saprolegnia sp. and to know the extract toxicity to brine shrimp (Artemia salinaLeach.). Mangosteen rind was extracted using methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane.Antimicrobial activity test was done using the agar diffusion method. To know thecompounds contained in the extract phytochemical test was conducted. The chemicalcompound test showed that extract of mangosteen rind contains phenolic/tannin/flavonoid,terpen/steroid dan alkaloid. The extracts inhibitated the growth of Aeromonas hydrophila,Edwardsiella tarda and Saprolegnia sp. to some extent. The optimal antimicrobial activitywas obtained from ethyl acetate. Abstract

Argulus sp. are parasites that act as mediators for viruses or bacteria frequentlycausing diseases by leaving a bite scar. This study was aimed to know potential pathogenicbacterial in the internal and external organs of gourami as result of ectoparasites Argulus sp.infestation. Twelve Argulus sp. were infested on gourami for 14 days. The isolation of thebacterial of the gourami and water was conducted using dilution methods. Bacterialcharacteristic was conducted to their morphology and biochemical properties followed byidentification of the bacterial. Two bacterial species were found in the samples of fish andwater, i.e. Corynebacterium aquaticum and Micrococcus luteus.Keywords : Osphronemus gouramy, Argulus sp., Corynebacterium aquaticum,Micrococcus luteus.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine antimicrobial effectivity of soursop leaf (Annona muricata L.) against bacterial pathogens Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwarsiella tarda and fungus Saprolegnia sp. and to determine the extract toxicity to Artemia salina Leach. Extraction was done by maceration method using methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane. Phytochemical test was conducted to all extracts. Antimicrobial effectivity test was done using the agar diffusion method. Toxicity test was conducted using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. The result of phytochemical test of soursop leaf extract showed that the extract contained of alkaloid, phenolic, and steroid/terpenoid. Antimicrobial test showed that the soursop leaf extract inhibit Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwarsiella tarda bacteria to some extent while fungus Saprolegnia sp. was not inhibited. All extracts were medium and highly toxic. LC50 of extract of ethyl acetate, methanol and n-hexane were 12.16, 13.07, 63.23 ppm, respectively.Keywords: Antimicrobial effectivity, Toxicity, Aeromonas hydrophila, Edwarsiella tarda, Saprolegnia sp.

Abstract

The infectious of ectoparasites has a harmful impact to mangrove crabs. This study aimed to know ectoparasites that infected mangrove crabs and determine the prevalence of ectoparasites that attack mud crabs. 10 crabs / pond were randomly taken from two pounds. Identification of Crab was conducted in Laboratory of Water Resource Management, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara. Parasite were observed in walking foot, swimming foot, claws, carapaks and gill of the crab. The result showed that 4 ectoparasites i.e Vorticella, Epistylis, Zoothamnium and Octolasmis were found from crabs of two ponds. Vorticella, Epistylis, and Octolasmis of Bagan Percut Ujung showed a relative high prevalence of 50%, while Octolasmis of Tangkahan Lagan Showed high Prevalence of 30%.Keywords: Ectoparasit, Mangrove Crab, Prevalence

Abstract

The aim of this study was to isolate potential probiotic bacteria from gastrointestinal tract of Patin Siam (Pangasius hypophthalmus) and to examine its potential in inhibiting Aeromonas hydrophila growth. De Man Ragosa Sharpe Agar was used to isolate potential probiotic bacteri. Characterization including Gram stain, Probiotic test, catalase test, and motility test was conducted. All isolates showed characterization of probiotic bacteria. Four isolates was identified as Bacillus coagulans, Bacillus badius, Streptococcus bovis type I and Micrococcus roseus. Antimicrobial test against A. hydrophila showed that all potential probiotic isolatest inhibited A.hydrophila growth with inhibition zone of 7-9 mm.Keyword: Probiotic Bacteria, Patin Fish, Bacillus coagulans, Streptococcus bovis type I, Bacillus badius and Micrococcus roseus.

Abstract

Kecombrang have chemical content such as saponins, flavonoids, polyphenols, essential oils, and saponins which maypotencial as antimicroba. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal concentration of kecombrang (Nicolaia speciosa) leaf extract to inhibit the growth of fish pathogenic fungi Saprolegnia sp. in gourami (Osphronemus gouramy). This research was conducted 3 months, from January to April 2017. Methanol, ethyl acetate and n - hexane were used as solvents for kecombrang leaf extraction. Assay on inhibitory of extract of kecombrang to Saprolegnia sp. used extract concentration of 0, 20, 40, and 60. Toxicity test (LC50) was conducted in gouramy at extract concentration of 1000, 100, 10, and 0 ppm. Water quality was observed icluding temperatute, DO, pH. The results showed that kecombrang leaf extract was reddish green, reddish brown, and yellowish green in color. Preliminary test of phytochemical compound of the extract showed that the extract contained saponins, tannins, and terpenes. The inhibitory test showed that ethyl acetate at concentration of 60% was able to inhibit up to 7.7 cm of the fungal growth. LC50 of methanol, ethylacetat, and n - hexane leaf extract was 25.4, 22.7, and 26.2 ppm, respectively. Temperature was 29 - 30 0C, DO was 7.0 - 7.2, and pH was 7.4 - 7.5 at the time of study.Keywords: inhibitory test, kecombrang, leaf extract, gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy), saponin, Saprolegnia sp.
