Abstract

Abstrak. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kuat tekan beton geopolimer sangat bergantung pada sifat material pozolan dan larutan aktivator yang digunakan pada campuran pastanya. Dalam paper ini disampaikan beberapa cara untuk memanfaatkan Lumpur Sidoarjo (Lusi) dan trass sebagai material substitusi fly ash di dalam campuran pasta untuk dianalisa sifat mekaniknya. Larutan NaOH yang dicampur dengan Na2SiO3 digunakan sebagai aktivator yang konsentrasinya divariasikan dari 8M sampai 14M. Perbandingan berat Na2SiO3 terhadap berat larutan NaOH juga bervariasi dari 0.5 sampai 2.5. Tes kuat tekan, tes belah dan tes porositas dilakukan untuk membandingkan setiap benda uji dari komposisi yang berbeda. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa kuat tekan beton dipengaruhi oleh konsentrasi NaOH, perbandingan Na2SiO3 terhadap larutan NaOH dan penyusun material dasar bindernya. Abstract. Some previous studies showed that the compressive strength of geopolymer concrete was dependent on pozzolanic materials used and the concentration of activator solution in the mixture. The effort to use Sidoarjo Mud and trass as an additive material in the mixture was investigated in this study to analyze the mechanical properties of the concrete. NaOH solution mixed with Na2SiO3 was used as the activator solution varied from 8 M to 14 M. Ratio of Na2SiO3 to NaOH solution by mass were also varied from 0.5 to 2.5 Trass and Sidoarjo Mud were introduced as fly ash substitution in the mixture. Compressive strength test of cylindrical specimens, splitting test and porosity test were carried out comprehensively to compare the specimens from each composition. The results showed that the strength of geopolymer concrete was influenced by the concentration of NaOH solution and the ratio of Na2SiO3 to NaOH in the alkali solution and the composition of the binder.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of investigation to assess the mechanical properties of geopolymer concrete made with fly ash as a base material. Previous study showed that the compressive strength of geopolymer concrete were dependent on pozzolanic materials used and the concentration of activator solution in the mixture. The effort to use Sidoarjo Mud and trass as an additive material in the mixture was investigated in this study to analyze the mechanical properties of the concrete. NaOH solution mixed with Na2SiO3 was used as the activator solution which varied from 8 M to 14 M. Ratio of Na2SiO3 to NaOH solution by mass were also varied from 0.5 to 2.5 Trass and Sidoarjo Mud were introduced as the filler and mixed with fly ash to replace the volume of fly ash. Compressive strength test of cylindrical specimens at 28 days, split strength test and porosity test were carried out comprehensively to compare the specimens from each composition. The results showed that the best concrete will be produced when denser NaOH solution was used. Ratio of Na2SiO3 to NaOH in the solution also plays an important role to improve the mechanical properties of concrete. The result of this study also shows that Sidoarjo Mud is a prospective material for making geopolymer concrete.

Abstract

Semburan lumpur Sidoarjo (LUSI) yang terus-menerus sampai sekarang mengakibatkan jumlah lumpur yang semakin sulit dikendalikan. Unsur kimia yang terkandung pada lumpur Sidoarjo didominasi oleh silika (>50%), alumina (26%), dan beberapa unsur lain seperti besi, calsium dan magnesium dengan jumlah yang relatif kecil. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu memanfaatkan lumpur Sidoarjo sebagai bahan dasar untuk pembuatan binder pada mortar ringan geopolimer. Komposisi mortar ringan geopolimer digunakan (binder+alkali+naphtalhene superplasticizer+agregat halus+bahan pengembang alumunium powder). Adapun bahan dasar binder adalah campuran LUSI bakar + fly ash. Perbandingan binder dengan pasir yang digunakan adalah 1:0,15. Perawatan dilakukan dengan steam pada suhu 60oC selama 6 jam. Hasil mortar ringan geopolimer memiliki rata-rata kuat tekan dan berat volume berturut-turut yaitu 3,49 Mpa dan 1,29 gr/cm3. Sedangkan hasil pengujian kimia (XRD) menunjukkan mortar ringan geopolimer didominasi senyawa silica oxcide dengan mineral quartz (SiO2).
