Abstract

In the last three decades, there has been a four fold increase of dengue incidence globally. The control of the disease depends heavily on controlling the vector. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an ecological data of vector to identify the population density of the mosquitoes. One method to study the density and presence of the mosquitoes is through the use of ovitrap. The aim of this research is to identify the effect of two different types of ovitraps. One hundred and eighty ovitrap consist of coconut shell and glass ovitrap were placed in three different subdistricts which was selected based on the Incidence Rate of DHF in the district of Purwokerto City. The container indices and eggs density were compared between two types of ovitrap. Research was conducted using experimental quasy and the data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test. The total amount of eggs from coconut shell ovitrap were 9328 of eggs were obtain from 51.33 of ovitrap while the total amount of eggs from glass ovitrap only 1858 of eggs were obtain from 29 ovitrap. Statistical test showed significant difference between the amount of eggs of coconut shell higher than the glass. Mosquitoes prefer natural coconut shell ovitrap compared with artificial ovitrap so we recommended that to eradicate the mosquitoes nest, should not only artificial containers but also natural container to be managed in order to control the dengue vector.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) was a disease caused infection by dengue virus. It transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. In 2015 according to Minister of Health Regulation No. 1501 / Menkes / Per / X / 2010 expressed as Extraordinary Events in Ngawi City. IR ( Incidence Rate) DBD District of Ngawi reached 59.9 per 100,000 population. Environmental and behavioral factors thought to be a risk factor for the cause of occurrence of dengue fever. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of environmental factors and mosquito eradication practice with incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever ( DHF) in the District of Ngawi. This study was observational analytic methods and case control design. The Case in this study were patients who visit Ngawi?s health centers and Ngawi Purba?s health centers on January to December 2015 which amounted to 154 ( cases ) and then the communities around cases within ± 100m from home cases to be a control. Statistical analysis used chi square test with proportional stratified simple random sampling. The results showed there were association between the presence of breeding place (p=0,0001 OR=9,6), the presence of vegetation (p=0,002 OR=6,01), Container Index ( CI ) (p=0,0001 OR=16,5), the practice of 3M (p=0,0001 OR=6,03), and the use of mosquito nets (p=0,001 OR=0,031) with the incidence of DHF. Based on these results the health center of Ngawi City collaboration with Ngawi?s health center and Ngawi Purba?s health center increase program outreach to the community about the practice of mosquito nest eradication and the promotion of larva monitoring as a precaution occurrence of dengue fever.

Abstract

The use of fertilizer and pesticides that can not be controlled continuously in agricultural  activities had impacts on environmental pollution and human health. Based on preliminary studies, cadmium level in the agricultural area in the Brebes area was 0.028 mg/l which exceeded from the existing quality standard of 0.01 mg/l. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of activated charcoal made from Accacia mangium wood with various sizes of adsorbents and flow discharge to reduce cadmium levels in fertilizer solution. The type of this research was true experimental with pretest-posttest design with control group. The sample that was used in this reseach was TSP fertilizer solution. The variations of adsorbent size were gravel (4 mesh), granule (8 mesh), and powder (100 mesh) while variations of discharge flow were 100 ml / minute, 75 ml/minute, and 50 ml/minute. Kruskal-Wallis Test with 95% confidence level indicated that there were significant differences between treatments. The results showed that the size of the adsorbent powder (100 mesh) and discharge flow of 50 ml / min was the treatment with the highest decrease in the average cadmium level of 0,192 mg/L (49.87%). Therefore, activated wood charcoal was quite effective in reducing cadmium levels but still above TLV (Threshold Limit Value) standard.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an acute infectious disease caused by Dengue virus that has 4 serotypes, DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, DEN-4. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is caused by multifactors: host, enviorment, and agent factors. The population of mosquito larvae also affect the occurrence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever can be measured its density with Container Index (CI. The aim of this study is to know the relationship of container index with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Semarang.The type of this study was observational analytics using case control design. The sample was 38 cases and 38 controls. The instruments used  observational sheets. Data were obtained from observation.  Data were analyzed by Chi-square test and the determination of the Odds Ratio (OR).                  The result showed number of containers in case group were 488 units, there were  container of larvae is 69 units (14,4%) and non larvae were 419 units (85,86%). While in the control group  were 328 containers, there were larvae in 41 containers is 41 units (12.50%) and the non-larvae of 287 containers (87.50%) .The statistical test result if  p value of Density Figure in container were larvae is = 0.490 and indicating that there is no relation between Container index with the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. The conclusion there is no relation of Container Index with the  incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Semarang

Abstract

Dengue fever is a disease caused by dengue virus is classified Arthropod-Borne, genus Flavivirus and family Flaviviridae which enter into the circulation of human blood through the bite of Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus. The purpose of this research is to describe the physical environmental factors, breeding places, clean behavior, and food consumption patterns and the incidence of DHF in Semarang at the age of teens (12-25 years) in Semarang. This research is a descriptive observational cross-sectional study design. Sampling with purposive sampling method. The sample in this study is the DHF patients at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Tugurejo Semarang City General Hospital Center (RSUP) dr. Kariadi General Hospital (RSUD) of the City of Semarang, and telogorejo Hospital in March-May 2016 that met the inclusion criteria as well as those not DBD patients in Semarang in March-May 2016 with inclusion criteria of 80 people from total sampling. The results showed that the temperature in the house in a group of DHF mostly fit into the category of not at risk, while the humidity inside the house in groups instead of DHF patients are more at risk compared with patients with dengue. In the group of patients with DHF is still found larvae in breeding places and PHBS with good category higher than the category of bad. On the food consumption pattern adequate amounts of Fiber, Vitamin C, Calcium, and Proteins fit into the category of less.

Abstract

Lead is one of heavy metals in pesticides and 80% will be wasted into the environment, thus impact on ecology and human health. The results of the preliminary study of irrigation water in Desa Siwuluh, Kecamatan Bulakamba, Brebes contains lead  with an average level of 0,187 mg/l. It was signify that lead  in irrigation water has exceeded the quality standard of Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia No.82 Tahun 2001 which is 0.03 mg/l. One of the methods used to reduce lead levels is phytoremediation by using Apu-Apu (Pistia stratiotes L.). The purpose of this research to determine the effect of contact time variations (3 days, 5 days, and 10 days) and weight of plant (150 grams, 200 grams and 250 grams) Pistia stratiotes L. to reduce lead levels in irrigation water. This type of research was the design of quasi experimental. The population of this study was irrigation water of Desa Siwuluh, Kecamatan Bulakamba, Kabupaten Brebes with the grab sampling method. The sample used in this study was 150 liters for 9 treatments with 3 repetitions and 3 controls. The method of lead level examination uses the Atomic Absorption Spectophotometer (AAS). Data analysis used friedmann with level confidence 95%. The highest reduction in lead levels occurred in the 10-day contact time (100%) and there were no significant diffence in weight of water lettuce variation. The results showed that there was a significant difference lead levels in irigatiion water with tretment weight of apu-apu and contact time p-value=0,001 (p<0,05). The conclusion is Pistia stratiotes L. effective to reduced lead levels in irigation water in 10-day contact time.

Abstract

Data pemeriksaan kalinesterase DKK Brebes menunjukkan bahwa 19,25% petani mengalami keracunan ringan dan 4,08% mengalami keracunan sedang, dimana istri petani berisiko mengalami keracunan karena keterlibatan mereka dalam kegiatan pertanian. Tujuan penelitian untuk megetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian keracunan pestisida pada istri petani bawang merah di Desa Kedunguter Kecamatan Brebes Kabupaten Brebes. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Sampel penelitian sejumlah 37 orang diambil menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Analisis data dengan menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan istri petani yang mengalami keracunan sebanyak 29 orang (78,4%). Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan ada hubungan antara keikutsertaan istri dalam kegiatan pertanian (p=0,042), tingkat risiko paparan (p=0,002) dengan kejadian keracunan pestisida. Upaya yang perlu dilakukan adalah tetap berhati-hati terhadap paparan pestisida. Perlu dilakukan sosialisasi, pemantauan dan evaluasi terhadap perilaku petani dan istrinya dalam melakukan aktivitas pertanian serta bahaya penggunaan pestisida oleh instansi terkait. Kata kunci: Faktor-faktor yang berhubungan, istri petani, kejadian keracunan Factors Related to the Incidence of Pesticide Poisioning on Farmers Wife in Kedunguter Village, Brebes Regency, The data of cholinesterase test from Brebes Health Departement showed that 19,25% onion farmers get mild intoxication and 4,08% get severe intoxication which farmer's wife is one of the populations who risked for getting intoxication because of their involvement in agricultural activities. This research was to analyze the factors related to the incidence of pesticide poisioning. This research used observational research with cross sectional approach. The samples are 37 people were taken using the purposive sampling. Data was analized with Chi-Square. Examination results showed farmer's wife who get intoxication are 29 people (78,4%). The results showed relationshipbetween the wifeb participation in agricultural activities (p=0.042), the level of risk exposure (p=0.002) with the incidence of pesticide poisoning. Efforts need to doing is to remain cautious due to exposure to pesticides. It?s needed in doing socialiszation, obsentation, and evaluation to the farmers and wife habit in agriculture activity and the dangers af using pesticide by the related. Abstract

Generally Dengue is transmitted by the bite of Aedes mosquito that was infected by dengue virus to humans in the form of the disease known as dengue fever (DF), Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS), Semarang since 2009 DHF had happened endemic throughout territory. This study aimed to describe the stress level and analyzed the factors associated with dengue cases in the city of Semarang. This research is analytic survey with case-control study design. The research sample comprised 82 respondents (productive age, 15-59 years) taken by total population being inclusion and exclusion criteria are divided into 41 respondents and 41 respondents cases where control is taken control group based on criteria matched to the case group. Samples were taken using the criteria of inclusion and exclusion of patients who had met at the hospital for approval following the research. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and correlation analysis with chi-square test at the significant level of 5% (0.05). Results of the analysis showed no difference in the level of stress in the case and control groups. Results of the study showed no association of variables where breeding places (TPA grocery p = 0.627, not grocery p = 0.500, natural p = 0.305), the practice of 3M (p = 0.070) and the practice of taking out the trash (p = 0.635) with dengue cases.

Abstract

Background : Mercury used in gold mining activities in the water of Mandor river in Mandor Disrict of LandakRegency may couse environmental pollution in form of the degradation of water quality and pollution to thebiota, one of them was shrimp. The shrimp living in Mandor river was predicted to be polluted with mercury, andif it was consumed, it may cause health disorders for people, especially those living near the river. This researchhad the objectives of finding out the water Hg content and shrimp Hg content in the Mandor river and finding outthe correlation of water Hg content to shrimp Hg content.Methode : This research was an observing research with the cross-sectional design. The sample collection pointswere at five points with 30 water sample and 30 shrimp samples. The used statistical test was the product mommetcorrelation test.Result : The average of water Hg content was as much as 2,15 ppb ang the average shrimp Hg content was as muchas 0,18 mg/kg. From the test result, the differences in water Hg content showed that there were differences of waterHg content in each research location (p value = 0,001); for shrimp Hg content, there were no different of resultsamong research location except in Kunyit Village and Kopiang Village that showed differences. From the resultsof correlation test, it was found that there was a correlation between water Hg content to shrimp Hg content ( pvalue = 0,047; r = 0,366). The regression result showed the regression coefficient value as much as 0,134 (p value= 0,47); the highest the water Hg content in Mandor river, therefore, the shrimp Hg content will also increase, andwater Hg content influenced on the existence of shrimp Hg content as much as 10,3%. The analysis result ofmercury pollution in Mandor River show that the downstream area has a higher Hg content compared to theupstream area, and the shrimp Hg content increases especially in Mandor Village.Keyword : Hg water, Hg shrimp, Mandor River, Landak Regency

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of major health problem in Indonesia. DHF is a caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by Aedes aegypti.The number of mosquito breeding places and larvae density become risk factor  influenced the spreading of mosquitoes. House index (HI) was an indicator to know the houses that have larvae. The purpose of this study was to describe House Index (HI) in Semarang City and surrounding areas. This study was descriptive with cross sectional study. The population of this study are all of houses in Semarang City and surrounding areas. The sample had taken by purposive sampling methode. Data was colleted through interviews and field observation to 54 respondents. Larvae survey with visual method to count the larvae indices (HI). Dengue transmission risk was categorized mild, moderate and severe base on density figure. The result of study showed that HI (44,44%) and DF (6) in Semarang City. Based on HI, have a high risk of transmission to the spread of dengue disease.
