Abstract

Ekstrak daun mahkota dewa mengandung senyawa turunan benzofenon yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai tabir surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui stabilitas fisik dan kimia lotion dan krim o/w serta aktivitasnya sebagai tabir surya dengan spektrofotometer. Ekstrak diperoleh dengan metode maserasi metanol lalu diformulasi menjadi Lotion dan krim o/w serta diuji stabilitas fisik dan kimianya serta diuji SPF nya secara in vitro dengan spektrofotometer. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa formula lotion dan krim o/w ekstrak mahkota dewa stabil selama penyimpanan 6 minggu. Kenaikan konsentrasi mahkota dewa akan menaikkan viskositas Lotion dan krim o/w secara signifikan. Krim selama penyimpanan lebih stabil homogenitasnya dibanding dengan lotion yaitu pada minggu ke enam minyak dari sediaan lotion mulai terlihat warna coklat dipermukaannya sedangkan krim lebih viskes dibanding dengan lotion. Sediaan selama penyimpanan 6 minggu memiliki kandungan phalerin yang relatif stabil. Aktivitas sediaan secara in vitro menunjukkan bahwa nilai SPF pada kadar ekstrak mahkota dewa 6 %, 8 % dan 10 % berturut turut untuk krim adalah 8,60, 11,51, 16,04 sedangkan SPF untuk lotion adalah 7,45, 10,83 dan 15,01 %. Sediaan lotion dan krim mahkota dewa stabil selama penyimpanan dan memiliki aktivitas sebagai tabir surya.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang keanekaragaman jenis tumbuhan obat di darah aliran sungai Opak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi jenis-jenis tumbuhan obat, distribusi dan potensi pengembangan sebgai bahan baku herbal.Area kajian dibagi menjadi 6 lokasi berdasarkan ketinggian tempat, yaitu wilayah Kecamatan Cangkringan (CNK), Ngemplak (NPL), Prambanan (PRB), Kalasan (KLS), Imogiri (IMO), dan Pundong (PDO).  Setiap lokasi diletakkan plot kuadrat berukuran 2x1 m sebanyak 30 plot. Di dalam plot kuadrat dihitung jenis tumbuhan dan cacah individu setiap jenis tumbuhan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat sebanyak 79 jenis tumbuhan yang dikelompokkan dalam 27 suku. Berdasarkan kontribusi jenis di dalam lingkungan dan studi literatur Eupatorium riparium,  Andrographis paniculata, dan Scoparia dulcis merupakan jenis-jenis tumbuhan yang potensial untuk dikembangkan sebagai bahan baku obat herbal.

Abstract

Bunga kembang sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang digunakan sebagai peluruh dahak secara tradisional. Telah diisolasi alkaloid dalam kembang sepatu sebagai senyawa penanda (marker) dan telah diduat sebagai sediaan sirup. Oleh karena itu perlu diteliti pengaruh suhu penyimpanan terhadap keberadaan alkaloid dalam sirup fraksi alkaloid. Fraksi alkaloid hasil fraksinasi ekstrak alkaloid dari bunga kembang sepatu dibuat sediaan sirup kemudian disimpan dalam suhu kamar, suhu 40, 55, dan 70 0C selama 4 minggu. Keberadaan alkaloid dalam sirup setelah penyimpanan ditentukan dengan KLT-Densitometri dengan menggunakan kurva baku isolat (alkaloid) hubungan antara kadar dan AUC. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa senyawa alkaloid dalam sediaan sirup fraksi tidak dapat ditentukan secara KLT-densitometri. Harga hRf senyawa penanda pada fraksi yang telah diformulasikan dalam sediaan sirup mengalami perubahan. Dilihat dari nilai hRf yang nampak, maka senyawa penanda mengalami peningkatan polaritas.

Abstract

Piper betle extract has an antibactery activity with eugenol as a major active substance its sparingly soluble in water. Piper betle extract mucoadhesive patch was a suitable form used in oral cavity for inhibiting Streptococcus mutans a bactery that caused plaque. Physicochemical properties and the release of active substance affect the acceptability of patch as well as antibacterial activity. Glycerin, propilen glycol and tween 80 are the substances(release enhancer substances/RES) that affect the flexibilty and release the active substance from patc. The aim of the research was to investigate the influance of the concentration of extract and addition of RES to the physicochemical and antibacterial activity of the patchs. Extract obtained by infusion method. Extract piper betle made based on variation concentration of extract 0,5%, 1%,2%,3% ,4% and adding release enhancer subtances glycerin, propilen glycol and tween 80. Patches produced tested for physicochemical properties including uniformity of weight, surface pH, folding endurance, swelling index and antibactery activity. Data obtained were descriptiv and statisticaly analize. The result showed that release enhancer substances affect the physicochemical properties and antibactery activity of the patches. The adding release enhancer substances increasing the value of folding endurance and swelling index and antibactery activity of patch.

Abstract

Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Gray) is one of the plants that are traditionally used to treat various diseases. The previous studies using Bioassay Guided Isolation methods has obtained the active compound (MTT, HeLa cells; IC50 9.776 g / mL). The cytotoxic effects of active compounds against breast cancer cells is unknown. This study aims to determine the cytotoxicity of theactive compound isolated from the leaves of T. diversifolia on breast cancer cells (T47D; MCF-7 and EVSA-T). The isolated compounds from T. diversifolia tested their cytotoxicity against breast cancer cells (T47D, MCF-7 and EVSA-T), using MTT method with a series of concentration of 0.39 to 50 ug/mL. Each concentration of the group performed triplicate and calculated the percentage of cell growth inhibition with probit analysis to calculate the IC50 value. The test results showed that the active compound have a cytotoxic effect on T47D, MCF-7 and EVSA-T cells with IC50 values are respectively (2.44; 4.697; 3.522) ug/mL, so this compound potential to be developed as an anticancer agent, especially breastcancer

Abstract

Methylripariochromene-A (MRC) (1) is the principal bioactive compound isolated from Eupatorium riparium Reg. collected from the Mt. Merapi National Park. MRC was isolated from the chloroform extract of the leaves by using bioassay (BST) guided isolation method. MRC causes diuretic, reduces the blood pressure and excretes mineral from the body. This activity is comparable to a clinically used diuretic drug, furosemide. MRC is a chromene type of compound, having 2 ?OCH3 groups on the aromatic ring that are possibly demethylated in vivo to give phenolic compounds well known for having antiseptic properties. This study was aimed to evaluate diuretic properties compared to furosemide, isolate and identify MRC major metabolites present in urine. If it is true, then MRC probably can be used also as anti-infectious diseases in the tractus urinary. n-Hexane extract (81% MRC) of E. riparium (1.25 g/kg bw) was applied p.o on male rats (+ 200g) and furosemide was used as a positive control of diuretic activity. Urine was collected during 48 hours, partitioned with EtOAc for 15 minutes to give EtOAc fraction at the upper layer. The EtOAc fraction was then checked by tlc with MRC as the reference standard. The major metabolites were isolated by fractionating the EtOAc fraction followed by purification using preparative tlc (fr. 4-5 and 6-7). The major metabolites obtained were identified based on their 1H- and 13C-NMR data. Diuretic effect of n-hexane extract (1.25 g/kg bw) was comparable to furosemide (8.83 mL/rat vs 8.70 mL/rat for 24 hours). The 1H- and 13C-NMR data of fr 4-5 indicated that there was not major changing in the 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra appearance compared to that of MRC, except that 1 ?OCH3 group was demethylated became demethyl MRC (2) . Based on HMBC and HMQC experiments, -OCH3 at C-8 was the one demethylated. The 1H-NMR data of fr. 6-7 was similar to fr. 4-5, demethylation of one ?OCH3 group on C-8 but the ether linkage in the furan ring system was broken to give 2 tentative structures (3 and 4).
