Abstract

Desa Teluk Buton merupakan pulau yang terdapat di wilayah Kabupaten Natuna, yang terletak Kota Ranai sebagai ibu kota Kabupaten Natuna. Desa Teluk Buton juga terdapat pulau-pulau kecil yang mempunyai potensi wisata bahari yang menarik seperti perairan yang jernih, terumbu karang, dan ikan karang. Permasalahan yang melatarbelakangi dalam penelitian ini adalah belum adanya pengelolaan terumbu karang untuk pengembangan wisata bahari dengan tujuan penzonasian peruntukan kawasan wisata bahari snorkeling dan selam. Metode yang digunakan yaitu Line Intercept Transect (LIT) untuk analisis terumbu karang, Underwater Visual Cencus (UVC) analisis ikan karang, Reef Check Benthic Fauna (RCBF), analisis Fauna Bentik, Indeks Kesesuaian Wisata (IKW), analisis Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE), dan analisis Daya Dukung Kawasan (DDK). Untuk kategori IKW snorkeling dan selam, 8 stasiun masuk dalam kategori S2 (sesuai) wisata snorkeling dan selam,  sedangkan 1 stasiun masuk dalam kategori S2 (sesuai) untuk selam, dan 1 stasiun masuk kategori N (tidak sesuai) untuk dijadikan kawasan wisata bahari (snorkeling dan selam). Hasil analisis Daya Dukung Kawasan menunjukan bahwa kesesuaian kawasan satu spot untuk dua kegiatan wisata (snorkeling dan selam) mempunyai nilai DDK yang beragam, sehingga tidak bisa menetapkan nilai tertinggi dan terendah berdasarkan stasiun, dan dapat diintepretasikan bahwa semakin besar suatu kawasan, maka semakin tinggi pula nilai daya dukungnya. Demikian pula sebaliknya, semakin kecil suatu kawasan maka semakin rendah pula nilai daya dukung yang dimiliki.Kata kunci : daya dukung, kesesuaian, komunitas karang, Teluk Buton

Abstract

Madura strait receives waste disposal from various activites in the mainland, making it vulnerable to contamination of harmful pollutants. Some of the harmful pollutants are heavy metal Pb and Cd. The high concentration Cd and Pb give negative impacts to the biota including bivalves. This study was conducted to assess the distribution of heavy metals Pb and Cd in the waters and their accumulation in bivalves Anadara nodifera, Meretrix lyrata, and Solen lamarckii in coastal waters of the West Madura Strait. Heavy metal analysis refer to APHA 2012 using AAS. The results showed that concentration of Cd and Pb in water were below the quality standards, while in sediment were above the standard (Cd of 7.20 mg/kg and Pb of 62.06 mg/kg). The concentration of Cd in bivalve were different among the species tested A. nodifera of 6.10 mg/kg, M. lyrata of 3.65 mg/kg, and S. lamarckii of 2.74 mg/kg, as well as Pb concentration A. nodifera of 60.10 mg/kg, M. lyrata of 51.48 mg/kg, and S. lamarckii of 45.29 mg/kg). These results indicated that the three shells have exceeded the maximum limit of heavy metal contamination in food (Cd of 1.0 mg/kg and Pb of 1.5 mg/kg). Keywords: bivalve, heavy metal, Madura Strait

Abstract

ABSTRAKBelangkas Tachypleus tridentatus adalah salah satu hewan bentik laut yang menghuni perairan pesisir Balikpapan Timur. Informasi tentang populasi belangkas di lokasi masih terbatas, dan IUCN secara luas mengklasifikasikannya dalam kategori data deficient. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kepastian taksonomi secara genetik dan sebaran T. tridentatus di perairan pesisir Balikpapan Timur. Belangkas diperoleh menggunakan alat tangkap nelayan setempat (dogol - sejenis pukat dan jaring insang) di daerah Teritip dan Manggar, masing-masing pada jarak sekitar 1 dan 2 mil dari garis pantai. Pengambilan belangkas dilakukan mulai Januari hingga Maret 2018 pada fase bulan berbeda. Belangkas yang tertangkap dihitung dan dicatat lokasi penangkapannya serta diamati karakter morfologinya untuk analisis sebaran dan sebagian belangkas diambil darahnya untuk analisis kepastian taksonomi dengan menggunakan penanda gen CO1. Karakter morfologi utama berupa telson yang berbentuk segitiga dan duri kecil yang banyak terdapat pada ophisthosoma, secara genetis menunjukkan bahwa jenis yang dikumpulkan adalah T. tridentatus. Sebagian besar belangkas yang ditemukan di lokasi penelitian adalah belangkas dewasa yang menyebar secara acak, dengan lebar prosoma berkisar antara 22,5 hingga 30,5 cm untuk jantan dan 28,5 hingga 37,5 cm untuk betina. Jumlah belangkas terbanyak ditemukan di daerah Teritip dan berdasarkan fase bulan terjadi pada kuarter ketiga. Penelitian ini menguatkan kepastian adanya jenis T. tridentatus di lokasi penelitian dengan ciri yang mudah dikenali serta konektivitas pergerakan T. tridentatus ke lokasi lain di sekitar perairan Balikpapan Timur. ABSTRACTThe tri-spine horseshoe crab Tachypleus tridentatus is one of marine benthic animals inhabiting East Balikpapan coastal waters. Information on horseshoe crab population in the location is still limited and IUCN broadly classifies the crab in deficient data category. This study was aimed at elucidating the taxonomic certainty genetically and distribution of T. tridentatus in coastal waters of East Balikpapan. The crabs were collected by local gear of fisherman (dogol ? a trawl like fishing-gear and gill net) in the Teritip and Manggar areas, each at a distance of 1 and 2 miles from coastline. Collecting takes place between January to March 2018 at different moon phases, location, number and morphological characters of the crabs was recorded and blood was taken from some individuals. Primary morphological characters in the form of triangular shape of telson and abundant tiny spines on ophisthosoma, genetically ascertained that the collected crab is T. tridentatus. Most of these crabs found was adult and randomly dispersed; with the width of prosoma ranged from 22.5 to 30.5 cm for males and 28.5 to 37.5 cm for females. The highest number of crab was found in the Teritip area and in the third quarter moon phase. This study reinforce the certainty of T. tridentatus in the study site with easily recognized morphological characters and the connectivity with other sites around Eastern Balikpapan waters.

Abstract

Macrozoobenthos has a relatively sedentary nature and the very limited movement which will directly affected in the event of changes in water quality, therefore markozoobenthos often used as bio-indicators of water quality. This research was conducted form March to June 2015 in the Ciseuseupan sub watershed, Cisukabirus sub watershed and Cisuren sub watershed with the purpose of determining level of water quality and influence of land-use on the quality water by using macrozoobenthos community structure. Biological indices were used to analyze the macrozoobenthos are FBI and SIGNAL2. FBI values in the Ciseseupan sub watershed are 5,02 with criteria the quality of water moderate, in Cisukabirus sub watershed are 3,96 with criteria the quality of water very good and in Cisuren sub watershed 4,37 with criteria the quality of water good. Extensive use of forest land larger than the residential land use in Cisukabirus sub watershed were the major factor in the high quality in the sub watershed Kata kunci: land use, macrozoobenthos, water quality

Abstract

This research was conducted to assess the social and ecological resiliences of mangrove ecosystem to sea level rise as a consequence of climate change. Resilience Index (RI) method was used range from 0 to 1. Sixteen resilience indicators, both ecological and social, are selected, developed, and evaluated. The indicators consist of mangrove coverage, density and diversity, aquatic fauna species, tidal flooding, salinity, sedimentation, land use, mangrove dependency and time allocation, conflicts potential, knowledge, the compliance rate, types of livelihood, institution cap, and level of education. Evaluation result indicate that the bay was divided into two categories of resilience; the majority has middle resilience because the mangrove coverage, density, and land use are high, with composite RI (CRI) range from 0.45 to 0.58. This was found in the villages of Muara, Langensari, Blanakan, Jayamukti, and Rawameneng. Only one village has high CRI of 0.69, such as the Cilamaya Girang. The main ecological factors that contribute to the high resilience of the area is the rate of sedimentation of 2 meters per year and rare tidal flooding, while the factor that contributes most to the impediment of social resilience is public knowledge about the importance of mangrove ecosystems©Penelitian ini merupakan penilaian parameter resiliensi ekologis-sosial ekosistem mangrove terhadap penaikan muka air laut sebagai konsekuensi dari perubahan iklim. Analisis yang dilakukan adalah untuk menghitung indeks resiliensi (Resiliency Index/RI) yang menggunakan skala 0-1. Enam belas parameter (ekologis-sosial) digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: penutupan, kerapatan, keanekaragaman jenis mangrove, jenis fauna akuatik, salinitas, banjir pasang, penggunaan lahan, laju sedimentasi, ketergantungan masyarakat, alokasi waktu pemanfaatan ekosistem mangrove, potensi konflik, tingkat kepatuhan masyarakat, pemahaman fungsi mangrove, jenis mata pencaharian, kelembagaan, dan tingkat pendidikan. Hasil analisis RI menunjukkan, Teluk Blanakan hanya memiliki 2 tingkat resiliensi, yaitu Tingkat Menengah dan Tingkat Tinggi. Tingkat Menengah memiliki penutupan mangrove yang rendah, kerapatan mangrove yang rendah, dan ketergantungan pemanfaatan mangrove yang sangat tinggi dengan kisaran nilai RI 0.45-0.58 yang ditempati oleh Desa Rawameneng, Jayamukti, Blanakan, Langensari, dan Muara. Tingkat Tinggi dengan nilai RI 0.69 hanya ditempati oleh Desa Cilamaya Girang, karena memiliki laju sedimentasi dan ketergantungan masyarakat terhadap kawasan mangrove yang rendah©

Abstract

Population of Yellow tail fusilier fish (Caesio cuning) in Seribu Islands at this time has decreased. The main cause of decreasing in abundance of the fish is due to degradation of coral reef ecosystem as a habitat of the fish. The purposes  of the study is  to examine the association of  Yellow tail fusilier fish resources with habitat characteristics. The study was conducted in the Seribu Islands waters on May 2009, at the four islands, each consisting of two observation locations. Percentage benthic  substrate cover, and the number of coral lifeform using the Square Transect method, while to see the abundance of the fish resources using Underwater Visual Cencus. Benthic substrate cover was dominated by abiotic cover (36.42%), hard coral cover was in fair condition (32.27%), dominated by foliose coral, massive coral, acropora branching and encrusting coral. The abundance of Yellow tail fusilier fish was 67 individu/250 m2. North Pramuka, West Panggang, and South Panggang was only observed some small fishes. Closing area can be implemented for management purposes with the combination of introducing brooder.  In vise versa East Pramuka and East Kayu Angin have been observed only adult fishes. Closing area can be implemented for management purposes with the combination of introducing juveniles. In West Kayu Angin closing area can be implemented to give the opportunity juvenile for growing and adult for breading.  South Belanda have all range of size fishes as well as good condition of habitat. It is therefore, this can be developed as marine protected area with eco-freienly marine tourism activities. Abstract

Three species of hippoid crabs are the target species of intertidal fishery along coastal line in District Cilacap, south Java; namely Emerita emeritus, Hippa adactyla and Albunea symmista. In Adipala sandy beach, Cilacap  an experiment was conducted to reveal the burrowing time and velocity of the crabs. The experiment was performed by removing the crabs from their burrows, measuring their carapace length, and releasing them immediately on the substrate. Burrowing time was measured from the start of burrowing to the disappearance of the entire carapace under the sediment surface. Among the three species, E. emeritus had the fastest burrowing time. As a consequence in terms of velocity, the burrowing velocity of Albunea symmista was higher than that of Hippa adactyla and Emerita emeritus; meaning that with the same size A. symmista needs longer time to burrow. By evaluating with other previous studies, the burrowing time and burrowing velocity of the three sand crabs were comparable. The ability of fast burrowing in the three species seems likely to be the advantage for their survival in large wave disturbed coarse sandy habitat and for their ability to widely exist along the sandy coast of south Java. Abstract

Coral reefs are ecosystem that have important economic value, but very fragile towards natural factor and human activities. Increasing human activities around the coastal waters will affect the ecosystem of coral reefs. The research was conducted from April to July 2010. The purpose of this study were to analyze the current state of coral reefs, to analyze the extent of damage and identify the cause of damage in Tegal island and Sidodadi waters. Percentage of life coral cover was obtained using line intercept transect (LIT) method. The results showed that percentage of life coral cover at 6 observation stations approximately 37.76% - 65.90%. The highest percentage live coral cover at Station 2 and the lowest at Station 3. In general, the condition of coral reef life was categorized "medium" with an average percentage of 49.87%. Damage of coral reefs were caused by bombing activities to catch fish, coral mining for construction materials and jewelry, anchor of ships, marine tourism activities and culture.   Keyword: Coral reefs, Tegal island, Sidodadi.   ABSTRAK Terumbu karang adalah ekosistem yang mempunyai nilai ekonomi penting, tapi sangat rapuh terhadap faktor alam dan aktivitas manusia. Meningkatnya aktivitas manusia di sekitar perairan pesisir berdampak terhadap ekosistem terumbu karang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan April sampai Juli 2010. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kondisi terkini tutupan terumbu karang di perairan Pulau Tegal dan  Sidodadi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan April sampai bulan Juli 2010 di perairan Pulau Tegal dan Sidodadi Kecamatan Padang Cermin  Kabupaten Pesawaran Provinsi Lampung. Pengambilan data tutupan karang menggunakan metode line intercept transect (LIT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tutupan karang hidup di 6 Stasiun pengamatan berkisar antara 37,76% - 65,90%. Tutupan terumbu karang terendah di Stasiun 3 sedangkan tutupan tertinggi di Stasiun 2. Secara umum kondisi terumbu karang di perairan Pulau Tegal dan Sidodadi dikategorikan kondisi sedang dengan rata-rata tutupan karang sebesar 49,87%. Kerusakan terumbu karang disebabkan oleh aktivitas pengeboman, penambangan karang untuk bahan bangunan dan souvenir, jangkar kapal, wisata bahari dan budidaya laut.   Kata Kunci: Terumbu karang, Pulau Tegal, Sidodadi

Abstract

Ikan ekor kuning (Caesio cuning) merupakan jenis ikan konsumsi yang memiliki nilai ekonomis penting dan merupakan salah satu jenis ikan karang yang menjadi target penangkapan di perairan Kepulauan Seribu. Habitat ikan ekor kuning adalah di perairan pantai karang, perairan karang dengan suhu perairan lebih dari 20oC. Hidupnya berasosiasi dengan terumbu karang dan dapat ditemukan di perairan Kepulauan Seribu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi sumberdaya ikan ekor kuning dan ekosistem terumbu karang serta mengkaji keterkaitan sumber daya ikan ekor kuning dengan karakteristik habitat. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Kepulauan Seribu dari bulan April-Juni 2009. Lokasi pengamatan adalah di Pulau Pramuka (Timur Pramuka dan Utara Pramuka), Pulau Panggang (Barat Panggang dan Selatan Panggang), Pulau Belanda (Utara Belanda dan Selatan Belanda), dan Pulau Kayu Angin Bira (Timur Kayu Angin Bira dan Barat Kayu Angin Bira). Dasar penentuan titik stasiun pengamatan di setiap pulau berdasarkan pada lokasi tangkapan nelayan pada daerah terumbu karang. Pengambilan data untuk persentase tutupan substrat bentik menggunakan metode transek kuadrat dan dianalisis menggunakan program Coral Point Count with Excell extension (CPCe). Untuk data kelimpahan sumberdaya ikan ekor kuning menggunakan Underwater Visual Cencus, sedangkan untuk data kondisi biologi ikan ekor kuning menggunakan sampel dari hasil tangkapan nelayan di lokasi penelitian pada bulan Mei 2009. Analisis yang digunakan untuk mengetahui keterkaitan sumberdaya ikan ekor kuning dengan karakteristik habitat menggunakan cluster analysis berdasarkan pengelompokan substrat bentik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi ekosistem terumbu karang mempunyai penutupan life form 32.27%, sehingga berada pada kategori sedang. Kondisi sumberdaya ikan ekor kuning diduga telah terjadi growth overfishing. Pola pertumbuhan bersifat alometrik dan didominasi oleh ikan yang belum matang (immature) atau belum dewasa (dalam kondisi pertumbuhan). Keterkaitan sumberdaya ikan ekor kuning dengan karakteristik habitat dicirikan dengan keberadaan coral encrusting (CE), acropora digitate (ACD), coral submassive (CS), dead coral with algae (DCA), karang lunak (SC), dan pasir (S). Bentuk pengelolaan ekosistem terumbu karang dan ikan ekor kuning di perairan Kepulauan Seribu secara terpadu dan berkelanjutan yang diusulkan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengelolaan berbasis ekosistem dengan titik penekanan pada habitat dan sumberdaya ikan ekor kuning antara lain: (1) rehabilitasi habiat dengan program transplantasi coral encrusting, acropora digitate, dan coral submassive yang menjadi ciri keberadaan ikan ekor kuning pada daerah yang rusak dan (2) pengaturan upaya penangkapan dan ukuran mata jaring.Kata kunci : ekosistem terumbu karang, ikan ekor kuning, Pulau Seribu.

Damage of coral reefs were caused by bombing activities to catch fish, coral mining for construction materials and jewelry, anchor of ships, marine tourism activities and culture.   Keyword: Coral reefs, Tegal island, Sidodadi.   ABSTRAK Terumbu karang adalah ekosistem yang mempunyai nilai ekonomi penting, tapi sangat rapuh terhadap faktor alam dan aktivitas manusia. Meningkatnya aktivitas manusia di sekitar perairan pesisir berdampak terhadap ekosistem terumbu karang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan April sampai Juli 2010. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kondisi terkini tutupan terumbu karang di perairan Pulau Tegal dan  Sidodadi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan April sampai bulan Juli 2010 di perairan Pulau Tegal dan Sidodadi Kecamatan Padang Cermin  Kabupaten Pesawaran Provinsi Lampung. Pengambilan data tutupan karang menggunakan metode line intercept transect (LIT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tutupan karang hidup di 6 Stasiun pengamatan berkisar antara 37,76% - 65,90%. Tutupan terumbu karang terendah di Stasiun 3 sedangkan tutupan tertinggi di Stasiun 2. Secara umum kondisi terumbu karang di perairan Pulau Tegal dan Sidodadi dikategorikan kondisi sedang dengan rata-rata tutupan karang sebesar 49,87%. Kerusakan terumbu karang disebabkan oleh aktivitas pengeboman, penambangan karang untuk bahan bangunan dan souvenir, jangkar kapal, wisata bahari dan budidaya laut.   Kata Kunci: Terumbu karang, Pulau Tegal, Sidodadi
