Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the minimum concentration of extract in inhibiting motile motile aeromonad septicaemia. The material used was the stems and leaves of the plant P. grandiflora as much as 10 g. The crushed simplicia was then macerated with aquades with a ratio of 1:10,  then filtered with filter paper and, put in an Erlenmeyer, and evaporated in an incubator at temperature of 30°C. The sensitivity test was performed by placing a paper disc containing extract on the agar medium that had been scratched with bacterial colonies. Clear zone formed around the paper disc was compared with standard classification table for clarifying the inhibition level.  The results showed that stem and leaf extract had inhibition zone against Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria that caused motile aeromonad septicaemia. The best result was obtain at concentration of extract 3.25 mg / L) with an average diameter of 22.67 mm and for leaf extract had a moderate to strong zone for all treatments. These proved that stem and leaf extract of P. grandiflora plant had antibacterial activity and can be used as control of MAS disease caused by A. hydrophila bacteria. Abstract

This study aims to examine the fish silage for total gain weight, growth rate, and the specific growth rate of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.), which is cultivated in 12 nets (1x0,5x1m), with the density of 10 fish (3-5 cm) on each net. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications; treatment A with 10% fish silage, treatment B with fish silage 20%, treatment C with 30% fish silage and treatment D were commercial pellet. The ANOVA test showed that the treatment effect among feed A, B, C, and D tested did not give a significant difference to total gain weight, growth rate and the specific growth of carp fry.Keyword: common carp, fish silage, fish feed, growth ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah pemberian silase ikan bagi pertumbuhan mutlak, pertumbuhan nisbi, dan pertumbuhan harian ikan mas (Cyprinus carpio L.), yang dipelihara dalam petak-petak jaring berukuran 1x 0,5 x 1 m, dengan padat penebaran 10 ekor ikan berukuran  3-5 cm. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan; perlakuan A pelet berkomposisi silase ikan 10%, perlakuan B pelet berkomposisi silase ikan 20 %, perlakuan C pelet berkomposisi silase ikan 30 % dan perlakuan D adalah pelet komersil. Uji ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh perlakuan di antara pakan A, B, C, dan D yang diujicobakan tidak memberikan perbedaan yang nyata terhadap pertumbuhan mutlak, pertumbuhan nisbi dan pertumbuhan harian benih ikan mas.Kata kunci : ikan mas, silase ikan, pakan ikan, pertumbuhan

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of methyl testosterone hormone for immersion of tilapia larvae for 8 hours on survival rate and growth of tilapia larvae (Oreochromis niloticus). Test animals used were as many as 240 larvae of tilapia, with methyl testosterone hormone treatment as much as A = 0 mg / l, B = 1,5 mg / l, C = 2,5 mg / l, and D = 3,5 mg /. Survival rate of tilapia larvae live on the highest dose of 1.5 mg / l which is 93.33% (A) followed by 83.3% (C), 80% (A), 75% (D). Highest absolute growth of larvae at the 2,34 cm (D) followed at 2,23 cm (C), 2,21 cm (B), 2,13 cm (A). The results showed that the differences in the dose of methyl testosterone did not give significantly different effect on survival rate of larvae and absolute growth. Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the optimal dose of propolis for male sex reversal in tilapia larvae through mixing in artificial feed. This research was carried out at the Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University. The experimental fish was taken from Board of Freshwater Fisheries Aquaculture at Tatelu. As many as 4,000 individuals fish aging 5 days were acclimatized for 2 days in an aquarium measuring 60 x 40 x 40 cm. After the acclimatization process was terminated, the larvae density was set to 100 per aquarium. Furthermore, the fish were fed with treatment feed previously added with propolis with a dose of A (0 mL/kg of feed) as a control, B (0.9 mL/kg of feed), C (1.8 mL/kg of feed), D (2.7 mL/kg of feed) and t E (3.6 mL/kg of feed). Treatment feed was given to larvae twice a day for 28 days. The results showed that masculinization of tilapia using propolis mixed into artificial feed had a very significant effect on the percentage of male tilapia and survival. In this study treatment C (1.8 mL/kg of feed) and treatment D (2.7 mL/kg of feed) resulted in the highest percentage of male tilapia which was 81.33% and 88.00% respectively. This shows that the administration at 1.8 mL/kg in artificial feed has a very real and effective effect on masculinization.Keywords: Oreochromis niloticus, masculinization, sex reversal, propolis

Abstract

The objective of this research was to measure and analyze the water quality parameters including temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide and BOD in reservoir Embung Klamalu Sorong regency, and to know the factors that affected the water quality of Embung Klamalu. Measurement of water quality parameters was done in situ for temperature, brightness, pH and in laboratory for dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbon dioxide, and BOD. The results showed the temperature at the five observation stations ranged from 26.2 to 29.8 0C, brightness 38 to 46 cm, pH 7.20 to 8.48 mg /L, dissolved oxygen from 7.20 to 8.48 mg / L, alkalinity 100 to 150 mg /L, carbon dioxide from 25.90 to 28.95 mg / L, BOD from 0.20 to 0.38. Refers to the standards of water quality according to the PP. 82, 2001, it could be concluded that water physical-chemical qualities in fish farming locations in the Village Klamalu were still in good condition. Abstract

The research aimed to evaluate the effect of baker?s yeast as immunostimulant on the growth of carp.  Fish was obtained from Board of Freshwater Aquaculture at Tatelu, North Sulawesi Province.  Before running the experiment, the fish was acclimatized for one week in five concrete tanks measuring 2x1x1 m3 each. During acclimatization, fish was fed commercial pellet at 5%/body weight/day, twice a day.  After acclimatizationm, the fish was distributed in 15 aquaria with a density of 25 individuals per aquarium.  The research used Complete Randomized Design with five treatments namely 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 g yeast/kg of pellet, each with three replications.  Fish was fed with treatment pellets for three weeks consecutively at a dose of 5%/body weight/day, twice a day at 08.00 am and 16.00 pm. Growth of fish was measured at the end of feeding period.  The result showed that the addition of baker?s yeast cells into fish feed significantly influenced fish growth. The best growth was achieved in fish fed pellet supplemented with 5 g yeast/kg of pellet.Keywords : Cyprinus carpio, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, immunostimulant, growth

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the optimal doses of honey addition on the sperm dilution to optimize spermatozoa motility, fertilization and hatchability of Patin Siam  eggs (Pangasius hypophthalmus).  The experimental design used was Complete Random Design (RAL).  Diluent solution consisted of a physiological NaCl 0.9% and honey.  Treatment doses of honey in aqueous diluent sperm tested as treatments were A (0 mL), B (0.2 mL), C (0.4 mL) and D (0.6 mL), each with three replications.  Observations made included spermatozoa motility, fertilization and eggs hatchability.  The research results showed that the addition of honey had a significant influence on motility,  fertilization, and eggs hatchability. This study concluded that the addition of honey in sperm diluent solution with a dose of 0.6 mL of honey in 99.4 mL of NaCl could increase the spermatozoa motility and  fertilization of Patin siam.
