Abstract

Dalam kaitannya dengan bahasa sebagai sistem tanda, Buhler, seperti dikutip oleh Pelz (1984), menggambarkan proses komunikasi sebagai segi tiga semiotik, segi yang pertama melambangkan pembicara sebagai penyampai pesan, segi yang kedua melambangkan pendengar sebagai penerima pesan, dan segi yang ketiga adalah lambang dari Gegenstand yang merupakan referensi dari realitas objek yang dibicarakan . Agar proses komunikasi tersebut berhasil, harus ada kegayutan clan ketiga elemennya . Apabila tidak ada kegayutan dari salah satu elemennya, niscaya proses komunikasi akan gagal . Berhasil atau tidaknya proses komunikasi, salah satunya ditentukan oleh pemahaman antara pembicara dan pendengar mengenai objek yang dibicarakan . Oleh sebab itu, referensi mengenai tuturan dalam suatu peristiwa komunikasi harus dipahami oleh kedua belah pihak, yaitu pembicara dan pendengar.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the semantic features in fraudulent ads in Facebook. This study is conducted by using two kinds of advertisement which are found in Facebook. The researchers are analyzing the word, sentence, or phrase that suspected as the way to convince the customers by following theory of meaning from Leech (1981). The data that the researchers got showed that the first type of advertisement is emphasized more to the affective and social meaning where the seller leads the customers’ opinion that the seller is a good or trusted person. Moreover, the seller uses prase that include to conceptual meaning to explain the condition or specification of the cellphone in detail.In the second type of advertisement, the element emphasized by the seller is thematic mining by referring to the emphasis of the word used in the advertisement.More over, theresult for identification of fraudulent ads in this study is still dominated by the usual way, such as by looking at the price offered. However, the results of this study can also be used as a consideration in identifying fraudulent ads.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konstruksi predikat bahasa Jerman Funktionsverbgefüge dan padanannya dalam bahasa Indonesia, serta mendeskripsikan persamaan dan perbedaan di antara keduanya. Metode analisis gramatika kontrastif digunakan untuk membandingkan konstruksi Funktionsverbgefüge dan padanannya dalam bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua konstruksi predikat tersebut terdiri atas dua unsur, yaitu verbal dan nominal. Kedua konstruksi memiliki bentuk, makna, dan fungsi yang sama, sementara perbedaannya terletak pada distribusi unsur-unsurnya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja guru bahasa Inggris bersertifikat pendidik ditinjau dari: (1) tiap penilai dan tiap kompetensi, (2) latar belakang syarat dan proses sertifikasi (tingkat pendidikan, pengalaman mengajar, jalur sertifikasi), dan untuk mengetahui (3) hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi guru bahasa Inggris bersertifikat pendidik pascasertifikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif jenis survei. Populasi pada penelitian ini 43 orang guru bahasa Inggris bersertifikat pendidik dari 10 SMA Negeri dan 12 SMA Swasta di Kota Yogyakarta. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dengan penskalaan menggunakan model Likert. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa (1) ditinjau dari penilai dan kompetensi, guru memiliki kinerja pada kategori baik; (2) guru yang memiliki tingkat pendidikan tinggi, pengalaman kerja tinggi, dan lulus sertifikasi melalui uji portofolio memiliki kinerja pada kategori sangat baik; dan (3) terdapat dua faktor yang menjadi hambatan guru bahasa Inggris SMA bersertifikat pendidik pascasertifikasi, yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan tes kompetensi gramatikal bahasa inggris berbasis web yang berkualitas untuk mata kuliah Structure 4 Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Sultan Amai Gorontalo. Evaluasi produk dilakukan oleh 1 orang ahli media dan 1 orang ahli materi. Subjek coba berjumlah 34 mahasiswa terdiri atas: 6 mahasiswa uji coba satu-satu, 12 mahasiswa uji coba kelompok kecil, dan 34 mahasiswa uji coba lapangan (termasuk subjek coba pada uji coba satu-satu dan uji coba kelompok kecil). Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa lembar evaluasi untuk ahli materi, ahli media, dan angket untuk mahasiswa yang mencakup aspek tampilan web dan aspek sistem. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan menunjukkan bahwa: (1) kriteria tes yang berkualitas ditinjau dari skor Alpha 0.823 (Reliabel), Item-Tot. 0.299 (diterima), dan Mean Biserial 0.402 (diterima). (2) tes kompetensi gramatikal bahasa Inggris ditinjau dari aspek materi dinilai “sangat baik” oleh ahli materi dengan skor 4,23. (3) tes kompetensi gramatikal bahasa Inggris ditinjau dari aspek tampilan web dinilai “baik” oleh media (web) dengan skor 4,07. (4) tes kompetensi gramatikal bahasa Inggris ditinjau dari aspek sistem dinilai “baik” oleh media dengan skor 4,10. Kata Kunci: tes, gramatika, kompetensi, dan web  DEVELOPING WEB-BASED GRAMMAR FOR ENGLISH DEPARTMENTIAIN SULTAN AMAI GORONTALO Abstract The aim of this research was to produce a Web-Based Test of English grammatical competence for Structure 4 Subject at the English Department, State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The evaluation was conducted by a media expert and a material expert. The subjects of the trial constituted of 34 students consisting of: 6 students of one-to-one trial, 12 students of small group trial, and 34 students of field trial (including those are in one-to-one and small group trial students). The data collecting instrument was an evaluation sheet for material expert, media expert, and questionnaire for students involved appearance and system aspects. The data were analyzed by using the descriptive quantitative and qualitative technique. The results of the research and development show that: (1) test criteria qualities referred to Alpha score 0.823 (reliable), Item-Tot 0.299 (accepted), and Mean Biserial 0.402 (accepted). (2) test of English Grammatical Competence which was developed determined by material expert assessed “good” (score 4, 07). (3). the web-based test of English grammatical competence which is developed determined by media expert indicated from the web appearance aspect assessed “good” (4,07). (4) the web-based test of English grammatical competence which was developed determined by media expert indicated from the system aspect assessed “good” (4,10). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan-kesalahan yang terdapat dalam penggunaan deiksis persona, deiksis tempat, dan deiksis waktu dalam karangan mahasiswa pada Niveau A2 di Jurusan Sastra Jerman UM serta mengetahui faktor-faktor penyebabnya. Subjek penelitian adalah karangan mahasiswa yang dihasilkan dalam matakuliah Aufsatz II. Objek penelitiannya adalah kesalahan deiksis persona, kesalahan deiksis tempat, dan kesalahan deiksis waktu. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak yang terdiri dari teknik dasar yang berwujud teknik sadap dan dilanjutkan dengan teknik simak bebas libat cakap. Instrumen penelitian adalah peneliti (human instrument). Keabsahan data dicapai melalui intrarater dan interrater. Selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Dalam karangan mahasiswa ditemukan kesalahan-kesalahan yang terkandung dalam deiksis persona, deiksis tempat, dan deiksis waktu. Faktor yang menyebabkan kesalahan tersebut adalah interferensi, over generalisasi, strategi komunikasi, elemen pembelajaran bahasa asing, kurangnya kontras, kondisi sosial psikologis pembelajar, efek domino, dan redundansi. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEIXIS ERRORS IN STUDENTS’ ESSAYS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GERMAN LITERATURE OF UM Abstract This study aimed at determining the erros in using personal deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis in students’ essays on Niveau A2 in the Department of German Literature of UM and also aimed at determining the factors that motivate the occurrence of deixis errors. The subjects were essays written by students which were made in the course of Aufsatz II. The research objects were personal deixis errors, spatial deixis errors, and temporal deixis errors. The data were collected using the observation method which consisted of basic techniques in the form of recording techniques and continued by using the technique of uninvolved-conversation observation. The research instrument in this study was the researcher (human instrument). The data trustworthiness was gained through intrarater and interrater. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using the distributional method.The results of this study are as follows. In the essay of Niveau A2 students in the German Literature Department of UM, there are some errors in using personal deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis. Errors of personal deixis are realized in six forms of pronouns: personal pronouns, relative pronouns, indefinite pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, and possessive pronouns. Errors of spatial deixis are realized in adverbs and verbs. Errors of temporal deixis are realized in adverbs and tenses. The occurrences of those errors are motivated by a variety of factors, i.e. interference, over-generalization, communication strategies, elements of foreign language learning, a lack of contrast, the students’ social psychological conditions, domino effect, and redundancy. Abstract

Even though –ing form is acquired earlier based on the natural order hypotheses of L2 morpheme acquisition, it remains difficult for L2 learners to acquire mainly for those who are not frequently exposed to the targeted linguistic feature inputs. A number of investigations were already carried out to find out the frequency effect on the acquisition of verbs as a complement (gerund and infinitive), yet this paper was designed to identify the role of frequency on the acquisition of English –ing form structure by Indonesia L2 learners. Participants consisted of four groups from different semester (1,3,5, and 7). Each semester also indicated various language exposure experienced by L2 learners. Each group comprised 10 participants. Data were collected by employing the writing test to elicit –ing form production including interview and observation. The coding of students’ composition was carried out to determine the correct productions—which were scored to interpret frequency effect on students’ acquisition and their misconceptions in composing a sentence containing –ing forms. The findings revealed that the rate of frequency inputs of –ing form structure accessed by learners fairly contributed to students’ constructional schemas in accordance with the high score. Each word possessed various frequency inputs of distribution which then led them to any deviant production.  In addition, intra-lingual errors were responsible for any misconception perceived by learners (overgeneralization, ignorance of rule restriction, and false concepts hypothesized).

Abstract

This research is aimed to find and to explain the implicit meaning in non-conventionally indirect request in Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime and the reason the speaker request in non-conventionally indirect way which found in Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime. This research is in descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime, specifically, the dialogue from the Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime that contains non-conventionally indirect request. The subject of the research is Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime and the object is non-conventionally indirect request. In collecting the data, the researcher uses teknik catat or noting technique. In analyzing data, the researcher uses metode padan specifically in metode padan pragmatics. The analysis of the research shows that Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime, from 25 episodes, has four forms of non-conventionally indirect request in Haikyuu!! (1st Season) anime, they are: imperatives, interrogatives, negative interrogatives, and declaratives.

Abstract

Generally, blending can be defined as combining two clipped words. Kvetko in Bednarova defines blending as a word formation process similar to shortening combined with merging two different words. There are many types of blending words both in Indonesian and English context. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the comparison between Indonesian blend words and English blend words in terms of its types, its similarities and differences and also how its formed. In this paper the researcher use descriptive qualitative method as the method of the research. The source of the data is taken from some journal articles that relevant with blend words both in Indonesian and English context. The result showed that Indonesian blend words and English blend words not only have similarities in the forming word, but also have their differences that make them unique to each other. The writer hopes that the reader of this article gets more information about both Indonesian and English blend words based on its types and the similarities and the difference between them.
