Abstract

With the inevitability of population growth and urbanization, governments have initiated the development and spatial planning of smart and green cities. By conducting direct observation and focus group discussion (FGD) with management unit representatives and residents, this study identified three priority issues in Rusunawa Muara Baru, Pluit, North Jakarta: access to clean water, management of household waste, and the lack of a public area for social activities or interaction. This paper aims to solve these problems through the implementation of an integrated model of Green Rusunawa, especially in Towers 5, 6, and 7. The stages of this program include preparation, implementation, and evaluation and sustainability. This program adopted a qualitative descriptive approach using observation, interview, and FGD to reveal the challenges, conducted informal deliberations as well as attributed the audience to the local government, observed and recorded the infrastructure program establishment and implementation, and held informal discussions and training for program management and resident representatives for the final stage. Green Rusunawa was created within the concept of green living, green environment, and green space, each through the successful utilization of rainwater harvesting (RWH), management of the waste bank, and the availability of the learning center. RWH and the waste bank quantitatively provide tangible benefits for the fulfillment of water needs and augment family income, respectively. Meanwhile, the learning center is to be developed into an interaction space for residents to conduct positive activities.

Abstract

Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan mengujicobakan kelayakan CD multimedia yang berjudul ?Meningkatkan Kemampuan Menulis Paragraf? untuk mahasiswa perguruan tinggi. Ujicoba kelayakan ini mencakup pemahaman mengenai konsep paragraf, proses penulisan, dan kualitas desain multimedia. Responden penelitian ini adalah lima belas mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi, Unika Atma Jaya. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara observasai, pengisian kuesioner, dan diskusi kelompok berfokus (FGD). Data dianalisa secara deskriptif kualitatif. Dari ujicoba ini ditemukan bahwa setelah belajar dengan alat bantu multimedia, responden lebih memahami bagaimana menulis paragraf secara efektif. Namun demikian, mereka masih perlu berlatih menggunakan transisi pengait antarkalimat yang menghubungkan satu gagasan dengan gagasan berikutnya. Responden juga mendapat pengalaman baru dan menyenangkan sebagai teman sejawat di antara mereka yang dapat saling memberikan koreksi dan umpan balik. Dalam hal desain, ditemukan bahwa jenis huruf, warna teks, waktu perpindahan antarslide, serta musik pengiring dalam CD multimedia ini perlu direvisi.Kata kunci: multimedia, paragraf, teman sejawat, koreksi, umpan balikAbstract:This study aims to carry out a feasibility trial of multimedia-based learning content ?Improving Paragraph Writing Competency? for university students. The feasibility includes the understanding on the concept of paragraph, writing process, and the multimedia design quality. Respondents of this study were fifteen students at Faculty of Economics, Atma Jaya Catholic University. The data were collected through observation, questionnaire, as well as focus group discussion, and they were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive method. This study found that after studying by multimedia-based learning content, respondents understood more on how to write effective paragraph. However, they still just need some exercises on how to use transition words to connect one idea in a sentence to another idea in the following sentence. The students also had a new and interesting experience in which they became peers and gave each other correction as well as feedback. Regarding to the design, the multimedia-based learning content still need some improvement in terms of letter type, text color, transition-slide timing, and background music.Keywords: multimedia, paragraph, peers, correction, feedback

Abstract

Gender dan bahasa lisan atau tulis sudah banyak diungkap memiliki hubungan yang signifikan. Penelitian ini mengamati (a) sejauh mana siswa SMA laki-laki dan perempuan di Bekasi memahami esai serta (b) kecenderungan pemilihan topik dari segi gender. Data penelitian berupa esai yang ditulis 136 siswa/i dari 6 SMA (3 SMA negeri dan 3 SMA swasta) di Bekasi, Jawa Barat. Selain melalui tesmenulis, pengumpulan data juga dilakukan melalui wawancara, kuesioner, dan pengamatan langsung. Penelitian yang dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif ini mengungkap bahwa topik yang dipilih siswa perempuan tidak terbatas topik personal, tetapi juga topik publik, sama dengan laki-laki. Baik laki-laki maupun perempuan cenderung menulis esai dengan topik masalah sosial (47%), teknologi (14%), personal (12%), nasionalisme (6%), dan kesehatan (5%). Siswa perempuan menyukai topik seputar masalah sosial, sedangkan siswa laki-laki menyukai masalah teknologi informatika/komunikasi. Perempuan juga lebih terbuka mengungkap perasaan di dalam menulis daripada laki-laki.Kata Kunci: gender, esai, menulis, topik, wacana

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan penulisan penelitian tindakan kelas dari dari sekolah dasar di Cisauk, Tangerang setelah mengikuti bimbingan dan latihan penelitian tindakan kelas. Data diperoleh dari tiga karya tulis guru. Penelitian nini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian ditemukan, terdapat ketidakcermatan dan konsistensi dalam penulisan. Selain itu,  tulisan tidak tepat penulisan pada judul, kurang jelas dan sitematis berkaitan dengan latar belakang, kurang sejalan antara tujuan dan rumusan penelitian, tidak focus dalam penulisan kajian teori, tidak menjelaskan mata pelajaran, serta kurangnya referensi yang berkaitan dengan pelajaran sekolah dasar. Dengan demikian, bimbingan dan latihan penelitian tindakan kelas dibutuhkan untuk jangka panjang, untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam meneliti dan mereancang serta menerapkan prinsip penulisan karya tulis ilmiah dan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar. Disamping itu, untuk melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas, guru harus memahami apa itu penelitian tindakan kelas dan memiliki waktu untuk melakukan penelitian. Kata kunci: Guru, Karya Tulis Ilmiah, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas

Abstract

Job application letter is one of many types of written communication. Every context has its own way to write application letter. This article aimed to know the pattern of moves of solicited and unsolicited job application letters, as well as to identify the structure patterns of moves and language used in Indonesian application letters generally. The corpus were 62 application letters. The data were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The research finds that the Indonesian application letters consist of nine obligatory moves: opening salutation, offering candidature, introducing candidature, promoting candidature, enclosing documents, willingness to action, stressing the facts, thanking, and closing salutation. The movement structure has similarity with the application letter from other countries as previous studies. The difference lies in the label of used terms. The implicitness and inability to express self-quality could be referred to the Indonesian culture known as modesty and inhibition in telling about oneself.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the subjects of this study have done the editing steps and to figure out whether collaborative writing method as one of the process in academic writing, i.e. editing steps, can be used by lecturers to teach bahasa Indonesia in college. Different from previous studies, this study is focused on men and women’s choices towards the use of collaborative writing. Based on the data from sixty subjects at Economic Faculty of Atma Jaya Catholic University Jakarta, using quasi-experimental design, the researcher gathered the data through test essay writing, questionnaires, and in-depth interview. This study found out that collaborative writing is  interesting,  useful,  and  not  boring.  Male  students  like  this  method  more  than women.

Abstract

Mangrove was found in Pantai Beting, Muaragembong sub-district, Bekasi, West Java. However, not many people there maximize the potential of natural mangrove to be processed into a product of economic value. By relying on the abundant potential of mangrove pidada, women in Pantai Beting need to be empowered. Therefore, the purpose of this activity is to provide (1) making of pidada’s dodol production, packaging, and marketing of its business; (2) post-training evaluation and monitoring. The subject of this activity is 22 women who live in Pulau Beting. The method used is the practise of making dodol by local facilitator. In addition, we used lecture, discussion, and demonstration methods are used to provide packaging and marketing training. Evaluation and monitoring are delivered by interview and FGD methods by focusing on the marketing mix, ie product, price, place, and promotion. This activity produces different lunkhead products than before. Differences include the level of cleanliness, dodol shape, and its packaging. The price also has been adjusted. The place of marketing is still done by the producer or through the acquaintance of  market. Promotion is not just word of mouth (WOM), but has been up to marketing online though intermediaries by someone.
