Abstract

(Title: Reading the Value of Humanity in Novel Autobiography). This article aims at revealing and elaborating the values of humanity embedded in the authobiography novels by Indonesian writers. The study is rooted in the fact that authobigraphy novels are currently burgeoning in Indonesia. Four novels selected for this study are Kenang- kenangan Hidup (Hamka), Habibie-Ainun (B.J. Habibie), Kehilangan Mestika (Hamidah), and Manusia Bebas (Soewarsih Djojopuspito). From the authobiography novels, readers, young generation in particular, can learn the values of life that the authors make as their vision to live life and its creativity processes, which cannot be separated from historical, social and political contexts. Through their authobiography novels, the authors express not only their conscience, emotion, and ideas, but also the ideology that they hold to live life and to realize their vision in the future.Key word: authobiography, humanity, creativity processes

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model panduan pendidik pengajaran sastra berbasis pendidikan karakter. Penelitian dilakukan dengan melibatkan 10 guru bahasa Indonesia, 150 siswa kelas 2 dari 10 sekolah, serta empat ketua MGMP kabupaten/kota dan satu ketua MGMP provinsi. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah human instrument, wawancara, observasi, angket, dan format penelaahan. Analisis data dilakukan melalui teknik deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persoalan yang dihadapi oleh para guru adalah kurangnya sumber-sumber pengayaan untuk mengembangkan pembelajaran sastra, baik dalam bentuk perangkat pembelajaran maupun praktinya di kelas, yang diintegrasikan dengan pendidikan karakter. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan buku panduan pengajaran sastra berbasis pendidikan karakter

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan nilai pendidikan karakter yang terkandung dalam cerita rakyat Kakak Beradik Tange dan Berei dari Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah teknik baca dan catat. Data yang didapat dianalisis menggunakan analisis konten. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai pendidikan karakter yang terkandung dalam cerita rakyat tersebut adalah religius, jujur, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, bersahabat/komunikatif, peduli sosial, toleransi, cinta damai, menghargai prestasi, dan mandiri. Nilai yang paling dominan ditunjukkan dalam cerita rakyat ini adalah toleransi.

DEKONSTRUKSI TERHADAP KUASA PATRIARKIATAS ALAM, LINGKUNGAN HIDUP, DAN PEREMPUANDALAM NOVEL-NOVEL KARYA AYU UTAMIWiyatmi, Maman Suryaman, dan Esti SwatikasariFBS Universitas Negeri Yogyakartaemail: wiyatmi@uny.ac.idAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi dekonstruksi terhadap kuasapatriarki atas alam, lingkungan hidup, dan perempuan dalam novel-novel Ayu Utami.Penelitian ini menggunakan aliran pemikiran ekofeminisme. Sumber data adalah tiganovel karya Ayu Utami, yaitu Bilangan Fu, Manjali dan Cakrabirawa, dan Maya. Hasilpenelitian sebagai berikut. Pertama, ketiga novel tersebut menggambarkan perjuangantokoh dalam melawan kuasa patriarki atas alam, lingkungan, dan perempuan yang terjadidi kawasan taman bumi Sewugunung dan situs candi Calwanarang di era Orde Baru.Kedua, bentuk perlawanan yang dilakukan tokoh sejalan dengan pemikiran ekofeminismedan merupakan strategi dekonstruksi terhadap kuasa patriarki atas alam, lingkungan,dan perempuan.Kata kunci: ekofeminisme, alam, patriarki, novel, Ayu UtamiTHE DECONSTRUCTION OF PATRIARCHAL POWEROVER NATURE, ENVIRONMENT, AND WOMEN IN AYU UTAMI?S NOVELSAbstractThis study aims to describe deconstruction strategies against patriarchal power overnature, environment, and women in Ayu Utami?s novels. The study used ecofeminism. Thedata sources were Ayu Utami?s three novels, namely Bilangan Fu, Manjali dan Cakrabirawa,and Maya. The findings are as follows. First, the three novels portray characters? struggleagainst patriarchy power over nature, environment, and women in the Sewugunung parkarea and the Calwanarang temple site in the New Order era. Second, the forms of theresistance that the characters make are in line with ecofeminism and are deconstructionstrategies against patriarchal power over nature,environment, and women.Keywords: ecofeminism, nature, patriarchy, novels, Ayu Utami

Abstract

Abstract                (Title: Creative Process of  Raja Aisyah Sulaiman, Feminist  Women's Literature in Melayu Transision Era). Raja Aisyah bint Raja Sulaiman Ibni Ali Haji or better known as Ayesha Sulaiman was one of the female writers in the Malay literary tradition of the Transitional period. As one of the literary grandchildren of Raja Ali Haji, his life is surrounded by a tradition of good literature. However, his name is unknown in the history of Malay literature. By using the perspective of ginikririk feminist literature, this study examines the creative process of Ayesha Sulaiman, especially in writing one of his works entitled Syair Khadamuddin. The results showed that Syair Khadamuddin was written Aisha Sulaiman to describe his life as a woman in Riau Lingga Malay Kingdom to continue with the sad story of a wife who experienced an inner struggle because of her attitude and outlook on single loyalty to her husband, longing for the abandoned homeland and views on family life and nationhood. The presence of Aisha Sulaiman's work in the transitional period from the 19th century to the 20th century, became a sign of a rebellion against patriarchal domination in Indonesia's local literary history which bound women.Keywords: feminist writers, Malay literature, transitions, ginokritik, poetry

Abstract

This study aims to analyse (1) how the characters in the novel Amba by Laksmi Pamuntjak conquest and care for the preservation of nature and environment, and (2) the depiction of nature and the environment in relation to the overall story of Amba using ecocriticism  perspective. The results are as follows. First, the nature and the environment of Buru are described as an arena to be conquered by the main character (Bhishma), who was a political prisoner in the New Order era. In addition, the preservation of nature and environment of Buru Island also should be protected from exploitation, especially by outsiders who came to the island of Buru. Second, the depiction of nature and the environment in Amba is related to the creation of the setting of story (place and time),  i.e. Buru Island as political prisoners? detention place in the New Order era, between 1969?2006. From the perspective of ecocriticism  these findings demonstrate how an island that was secluded so used to dispose of political prisoners have experienced the dynamics of an arena which was originally a natural and fierce, eventually turned into an island that invites entrants to explore and exploit natural wealth, so must be preserved.

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss construction of nationalism contained in Indonesian novels preindependence, especially Student Hijo and Salah Asuhan using perspective hegemony Gramsci’s theory. The analysis showed that both the novel construct of ideology of nationalism against colonialism in the Dutch colonial era. Both novels also showed his duties as a battle field of ideology of nationalism against colonialism.

Abstract

Drupadi is one of the female characters who have important roles and positions in the epic Mahabharata or wayang purwa in Java. In the Indian version Drupadi married five Pandavas. However, in the Javanese version she was only married to Yudhisthira. This paper discuss Drupadi Perempuan Poliandris novel as one of the works which is the reception and transformation of Mahabharata version of India and Java, as a form of reception and transformation of Mahabharata version of India and Java, its existence is considered as a form of revitalization of the classic literary works, especially the character Drupadi using the perspective of feminist literary criticism. The results show that the Drupadi character depicted in the novel tends to return the identity of Drupadi in the Mahabharata of India as the wife of Pandawas after they won the competition held by King Drupada. This is in contrast to Drupadi in the Javanese wayang story depicting Drupadi as the wife Yudhisthira as the oldest Pandawa. In this  novel Drupadi figure is also described as a woman who not only has perfect beauty, but also very critical of her destiny that must be lived.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of gender relation and gender role and Eka Kurniawan?s and Djenar Maesa Ayu?s different visions of the two. The data sources were Cantik Itu Luka, a novel by Eka Kurniawan and Nayla, a novel by Djenar Maesa Ayu. The data were analyzed by means of the qualitative descriptive technique through categorization, tabulation, and inference employing the feminist literary criticism theory. The findings are as follows. First, Cantik Itu Luka representsthe gender relation dominated by patriarchal power especially in the public domain, while Nayla represents the gender relation leading to superior women against the patriarchal power. Second, Eka Kurniawan views that men have dominant positionsin relation to women, while Djenar Maesa Ayu views that men?s domination must be opposed by presenting dominant female figures. Third, Eka Kurniawan views that patriarchal domination in gender role still cannot be opposed by women, while Djenar Maesa Ayu views that women must be able to compete with men especially in the public role.

Abstract

This article is intended to understand the phenomena of women writers in Indonesian literature within the period of year 2000. Their works of literature emerge among the works of art dominated by male writers. Seeing through thefeminism point of view, those women writers strive their position by attempting to deconstruct the patriarch system. By producing their works, they seek their identity through the literary writing and literary critics. Their existence in Indonesian literaryworks in 2000s becomes the pioneer of women’s rebelious action against the patriarch system in Indonesian literary history. Through their works which have got some awards from Dewan Kesenian Jakarta or Khatulistiwa Awards, theircapability in writing is recognized. However, their skill in producing works of art does not necessarily get positive respond from both the society and the literary critics. There are many prickly critics which try to marginalize their works.
