Abstract

Electronic portfolio assessment (EPA) is an assessment procedure based assessment for learning which is a collection of student work collected digitally. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of implementation of the EPA model to increase students’ generic science skills (GSS) in Practical Inorganic Chemistry. Research was conducted at Chemistry Education Department on preservice teacher programme. The research design was a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Research subjects each consisted of 30 students in the experimental and control Group. Data was collected using GSS test given at pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 17.0. The result show that students who used EPA model in the assessment process have increased GSS (mean of N-gain= 0.41) better than those used conventional portfolio assessment (mean of N-gain = 0.14).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penyusunan dan penerapan asesmen alternatif dalam mengungkap kesulitan belajar siswa pada pembelajaran sistem ekskresi manusia di SMA PGII 1 Bandung. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Subjek yang dilibatkan pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai subjek pada tahap uji coba, dan kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai subjek pada tahap penerapan. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan learning log class, rubrik penilaian, catatan penting lapangan, tes pemahaman konsep, dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan dengan merekapitulasi hasil respon siswa dalam learning log class yang terkait indikator-indikator yang dicapai dan yang belum dicapai siswa pada pembelajaran sistem ekskresi manusia, serta penelahaan kesulitan belajar siswa yang terungkap melalui hasil analisis pada learning log class. Setelah itu data divalidasi melalui wawancara dengan uji cuplik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan learning log class dapat mendiagnostik kesulitan belajar siswa. Kelebihan learning log class adalah dapat mengungkap kesulitan belajar siswa dan latar belakang kesulitannya, dapat mengukur konsep atau sub konsep yang dianggap sulit bagi siswa, sebagai feedback terhadap kemampuan siswa, melibatkan siswa dalam proses asesmen. Guru memberi tanggapan yang positif tentang penerapan learning log class dan siswa pun terbantu dengan adanya learning log class karena dapat menjadi sumber refleksi diri. Kata kunci : kesulitan belajar, asesmen alternatif, learning log class, sistem ekskresi manusia.

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this research is to describe facebook utilization in peer assessment online to assess pupil’s scientific attitude on laboratory report of environment pollution, to explain the benefit and the weakness, and also to get information about student’s and teacher’s response about peer assessment online by facebook. Collecting data are done by observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The instruments which used were analysis form of implementation facebook utilization in peer assessment online, rubrict peer assessment to assess pupil’s scientific attitude, questionnaire, and manual teacher interview. The result show that many of pupil’s scientific attitude can be assessed by peer assessment online with utilization of facebook. The main weakness of facebook utilization in peer assessment online are technical problem such as unfluent internet network and a hacker. Benefits are free of time, low cost relatively, and comfortable in assess. The conclusion of this research is facebook can be used for peer assessment online to assess pupil’s scientific attitude. Keyword: Facebook, Peer Assessment Online, Scientific Attitude, Laboratory Report.  Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan jejaring facebook dalam peer assessment online untuk menilai sikap ilmiah siswa pada hasil kerja praktikum pencemaran lingkungan, mengungkap kelebihan dan kelemahannya, serta memperoleh informasi mengenai tanggapan siswa dan guru terhadap peer assessment online melalui facebook. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui observasi, angket, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data adalah format analisis pelaksanaan pemanfaatan jejaring facebook dalam peer assessment online, rubrik peer assessment untuk menilai sikap ilmiah, angket terbuka dan tertutup, serta pedoman wawancara guru.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar sikap ilmiah siswa dapat ternilai atau terungkap melalui peer assessment online dengan memanfaatkan jejaring facebook. Kendala utama pemanfaatan facebook untuk peer assessment online adalah permasalahan teknis seperti jaringan internet yang kurang mendukung dan keberadaan  hacker. Kelebihannya adalah keleluasaan waktu, biaya yang rendah, kebebasan dan kenyamanan saat menilai. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah jejaring facebook dapat digunakan dalam peer assessment online untuk menilai sikap ilmiah siswa. Kata kunci: Facebook, Peer Assessment Online, Sikap Ilmiah, Hasil Kerja Praktikum.

Abstract

Research skills achievement for 21st century learner in ecosystem concept through step-by-step model experiment were described in this research. Participant were 32 senior high school students which in the tenth grade. Research skills in this study are defined as the skill for finding sources of information, formulating problem, hypothesizing, analyzing data, evaluating data, and communicating in writing skill. Data was collected from student worksheets, research report, questionnaires, interviews, and field notes. Data collected were analyzed by identifying the student’s answer with RSD rubric category, then student’s score was processed into percentage in the form of table. The result showed that almost half of the students had fulfilled the criteria of maximal skill in finding the relevant source and analyzing data aspect, almost all students had fulfilled the criteria of maximal skill in formulating the problem and hypothetical aspect, most of the students had fulfilled the maximal skill criteria on evaluating data aspect, and a few of the students had fulfilled the maximal skill criteria on communicating aspect. Based on data analysis, it is found that the student achievement diverse on every aspect of research skills.

Abstract

Metacognitive skills is seen as one of the factors that influence the cognitive learning. Relations metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes can be achieved through the use of specific instructional strategies. Thus the relationship has been much studied. However, the study of the relationship of metacognitive skills and cognitive learning outcomes in learning Animal Phyisiology is still lacking. This study is a correlational study revealing the relationship metacognitive skills of college student with cognitive learning outcomes on the use of learning strategies based on Vee diagram. The study was conducted during the semester. The study population was college student of Animal fisiology FPMIPA UPI Bandung Indonesia. Samples taken as a single class taught using learning strategy based on Vee Diagram . The results show that there is a relationship metacognitive skills of collegee students with cognitive learning outcomes in the application of scientific learning. The regression equation based on the results of the data analysis is y = 0,493x + 20.37 with the reliability value of 0.529 which means donations metacognitive skills of college students on the cognitive learning is 52.9%, while 47.1% are other factors besides metacognitive skills. Conclusions based on these results that the colllege student metacognitive skills associated with cognitive achievement on the use of learning based on Vee diagram.

Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze about the development of the performance assessment in assessing the integrated science process skills on the concept of habitat in the ecosystem. The integrated science process skills require a higher knowledge based to be able to carry out a variety of science process skills in an integrated learning. Performance assessment development process starting from the preparation of the performance assessment, the assessment test in order to obtain the parts repaired and the device obtained a more complete assessment of performance. Descriptive method is used in this research. The study provides information that the instruments developed already proper for use to assess the integrated science process skills on the concept of habitat in the ecosystem. Judging from the achievement test scores on the implementation class development from  the previous trials with an average score of integrated KPS by (70.00) and increased at the stage of implementation of (73.11) with good category. It also developed an effective performance assessment to assess the the integrated science process skills with validity of the assessment of performance has increased in every test try. The first trial has the validity number (0,56), the second trials has validity number (0.81) and the last trials has the validity number (0.86). It can be concluded the assessment was developed capable to assessing the integrated science process skills of students with very high the last valdity value.

Abstract

The importance of critical thinking has triggered many educators to develop this ability on their students. This research aim was to explore the role of teachers’ strategies in fostering students’ metacognitive strategies on their critical thinking abilities. 135 students and 5 teachers from 5 different high school in Sumedang district were involved in this research. Teachers’ strategies were explored through observation whereas students’ critical thinking abilities were explored through questionnaire. Observations showed that each teacher fostered students’ metacognitive strategies differently. Kruskal-Wallis Test showed there is significant difference between students’ critical thinking abilities based on their teachers’ strategies. It implies the effect of teachers’ strategies to students’ critical thinking abilities. The more teachers foster their students’ metacognitive strategies, the higher their students’ critical thinking abilities. By means, there is possibility to develop students’ critical thinking ability through their metacognitive strategy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan literasi informasi abad 21 siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan dengan menggunakan assessment for learning berbasis Seesaw. Literasi informasi abad 21 yang diukur dalam penelitian ini mencakup tiga indikator yaitu mengakses sumber informasi secara efektif dan efisien, menggunakan informasi untuk menangani masalah, dan mengelola aliran informasi dari berbagai sumber. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan desain one group pre-test post-test. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari soal pre-test dan post-test, rangkaian task artikel informasi dengan pertanyaan uraian, serta angket respon siswa. Indikator menggunakan informasi untuk menangani masalah paling meningkat setelah diberikan perlakuan dimana sebagian besar siswa (55%) mengalami peningkatan N-gain dalam kategori tinggi. Jumlah siswa yang mencapai mastery pada keseluruhan task paling tinggi dicapai untuk indikator mengelola aliran informasi dari berbagai sumber (27,5%), diikuti indikator mengakses sumber informasi secara efektif dan efisien (22,5%), dan paling rendah pada indikator menggunakan informasi untuk menangani masalah (12,5%). Sebagian besar siswa (67%) memberikan respon positif terhadap penggunaan asesmen berbasis Seesaw. Walaupun demikian masih banyak kendala dalam penggunaan Seesaw karena keterbatasan perangkat keras dan akses internet.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of project based learning (PjBL) in improving high school students’ ability of 21st century botanical literacy. This study used quasi experimental method through non-equivalent control grup design. In the design of this study, there was a pre-test about botanical literacy before the treatment in experiment class and control, then it was done a treatment in experiment class with PjBL model and traditional learning in control class. After that, the students were given post-test about botanical literacy after learning activities. Sample in this study as much as 2 classes that belongs to class ten in one of High School in Cimahi City. The determination of study sample was conducted with purposive sampling technique because in choosing sample considering the condition of the students who have not learned yet about plants classification in school. Botanical literacy that was measured in this research is the ability to think critically to classify plants and solve the problem about plants. The result of the research is average of  N-gain in the experimental class  increased with moderate category, in the average of N-gain in the control class increased in low category. Overall, the activities in the stage of PjBL model has finished well by the teacher and students. Almost all the students agree that PjBL model give chances to the students to apply the knowledge on classifying plants, train on solving problem, and improve the learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of learning log for junior high school students on global warming with demonstration based on Predict-Observe-Explain (POE). The development process started with the preparation of learning log, test trial to obtain the data to be repaired, and obtained learning log tools better. The method used was the descriptive method. Two classes in one of junior high school in Bandung were selected by cluster random sampling. Data collected through the assignment of learning log, field notes through observation and interviews. The instruments were examined in this study is learning log’ task and rubric. While research instruments consisted of student’s and teacher’s interviews guides, field notes, and rubric for assessment authentic’s effectiveness. The trial showed that questions in task still need to be improved in terms of the sentence and the editorial content, rubrics for learning log developed based on the responses of the students. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of authentic assessment test phase is (45%) quite good. The results of the application authentic assessment can measure students' POE. Questions on the task and the rubric developed well. The effectiveness of authentic assessment in application phase is (85%) very good. The response of students and teacher about authentic assessment developed positively.
