Abstract

To return the ecological function of Wan Abdul Rachman Forest Park, it must be involved the role of buffer zone communities living around the forest by optimizing the cultivated land with applying agro-forestry based on socio-economic conditions in the community, such as community preferences and adoption of agro-forestry patterns. Under these conditions it is necessary to hold a study concerning to the level of community preference to the type of plants and the level of adoption, as well as the NPV analysis of the 3 patterns of agro-forestry which are applied by the majority of community around the forest park. Results of the study revealed that there were 3 dominant plant types  preferred by the community in the forest park, namely: coffee (30.8%), cacao (35.8%), and rubber (17.4%). Based on these crops, there were 3 agro-forestry patterns practiced by the majority of community in their cultivated land. They were: (1) coffee-cacao-wooden plants, and fruits (47%), (2) rubber-coffee-wooden plants, and fruit (35%), and (3) rubber-cacao-wooden plants, and fruit (18%). The highest personal and social NPVs obtained  in the agro-forestry pattern of rubber-coffee-wooded plants, and fruits were IDR4.589.627.36 and IDR6.454.806.01, respectively. To ensure the sustainability of the program, the development of communities living around the forest together with a program of community empowerment in the block of utilization and social forestry in the forest park are recommended to continue, based on the Regional Regulation (PerDa) Number. 3/2012.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the potential of fresh water swamp forest as alternative ecotourism of Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus). The data collection of flora was done by the printed path method, with sampling intensity (IS) 10% so that obtained 34 observation plots; then elephants behaviors were taken at 07.00 - 17.00 WIB for 7 days. The data behaviors of elephants were recorded using a sampling scan method, for 60 minutes by recording the incidence of behavior within 60 seconds. Data were analyzed by calculating the important value index, the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, and descriptif analysis. The results showed that there were 25 types of vegetation with 5 species that have the highest important index value. The diversity of vegetation types based on Shannon-Wiener's diversity index is moderate, 99% of species found are natural feeds favored by Sumatran elephants. Most of the elephant activity is eating (32%), 17% group, 17% rest, and exploring as much as 12%, while salting is done when elephants feel the need for minerals. The management can do reforestation to increase the diversity of vegetation type, especially the Sumatran elephant's natural food species, so that its existence can support the preservation of elephant and educational tourism based on Sumatran elephant conservation.

Abstract

Limbah domestik (greywater) sebagian besar dibuang langsung dalam badan air tanpa adanya pengolahan karena biaya yang mahal, penerapan yang sulit dan teknologi yang belum terjangkau masyarakat, sehingga dapat mencemari lingkungan. Pengolahan air limbah domestik yang efisien, murah, mudah dan ramah lingkungan harus dikembangkan. Fitoremediasi merupakan salah satu pengolahan air limbah dengan menggunakan agen biologi gulma air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas fitoremediasi menggunakan kombinasi beberapa jenis gulma air Eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart)), Kiambang (Salvinia molesta) dan Kayu apu (Pistia Stratiotes L.) dalam memperbaiki kualitas air limbah domestik. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan perlakuan faktorial 8 x 2 dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah jenis gulma dengan 8 level yaitu tunggal, kombinasi 2 gulma dan kombinasi 3 gulma Faktor kedua adalah waktu pengamatan dengan 2 level yaitu 4 hari dan 8 hari. Parameter yang diukur adalah pH, COD, BOD, TSS, amonia dan minyak lemak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gulma Eceng gondok, Kiambang, Kayu apu perlakuan tunggal, kombinasi 2 jenis gulma dan kombinasi 3 jenis gulma sangat efektif dan sama baiknya dalam menaikan pH dan menurunkan COD, BOD, TSS, amonia dan minyak lemak air limbah domestik pada hari ke-4 maupun hari ke-8 sampai memenuhi baku mutu yang disyaratkan oleh kementrian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan No. 68 Tahun 2016.

Abstract

Way Betung watershed is one of the important water resources in Lampung Province and it provides a clean water for Bandar Lampung City through a regional water supply company (PDAM). By the increase of population and economical activities of Bandar Lampung City, the need of clean water also increase, however by the time, the conditions of Way Betung watershed as water resources are declining. Therefore, to improve or to restore WayBetung watershed, a high cost is needed. The research was aimed: (a) to study the effects of Way Betung watershed land use change on the water resources of Bandar Lampung City, (b) to arrange the sustainable development of Way Betung watershed in order to maintain the availability of water resources. The sustainable developments of water resources of Way Betung watershed were arranged in five alternatives/scenarios and each alternative was related toits erosion (USLE method) and its run off volume (SCS method). The results showed that land use changes of Way Betung watershed (1991-2006) were likely to increase daily maximum discharge (Q max), to decrease daily minimum discharge (Q min), to increase fluctuation of river discharge, and to increase yearly run off coeffcient. The best sustainable development of water resources of Way Betung watershed, Lampung Province, was alternative/scenario-4 (forest as 30% of watershed areas + alley cropping in the mix garden). This alternative will decrease erosion to the level lower than tolerable soil loss and also decrease fluctuation of monthly run off.Keywords: Land use change, run off coefficient, water resources, watershed

Abstract

The Capability level of knowledge about the implementation of the Timber Legality Verification System (TLVS) at this point is still very limited, as well as TLVS gains and losses for farmers TLVS community forests farmers. Tani Makmur Group response to the implementation and importance TLVS policy is not yet known, led to this important research to be done. This research aimed to measure the knowledge, attitudes and behavior towards the implementation of TLVS in Tani Makmur Group, Totoprojo Village, Way Bungur Sub District, East Lampung District in December 2014. The research was conductedby the method of in-depth interviews and a question naire. The level of public knowledge of the implementation of TLVS is in good category (82,35%), the public attitude towards the implementation of TLVS is in good category (50,00%), and the disagreed behavior of people towards TLVS implementation (41,18%). Keywords: Response, Tani Makmur Group, Community Forests, TLVS, East Lampung.

Abstract

The urban forest is part of public green open space which is formed by trees alliance that affect the temperature and humidity and reduce the wind speed so could provide convenience for the surrounding population. The aim of this research was to identify the species of the trees, to know the convenience based on THI and the public perception. Trees vegetation data inside urban forest were collected by census methods, temperature and humidity data were collected by measurement. Perception data were collected through interview using questionnaire. Descriptive analysis was used to analyzed the trees vegetation and visitors’ perception. The comfort level were analyzed by using Nieuwolt’s comfort index.  The results showed the influence of the density of vegetation to temperature and humidity affected the level of comfort. The dense canopy area had the air temperature at 29,43oC and humidity at 78,02%. The rare canopyarea had the air temperature at 30,49oC and humidity at 75,23%. Based on the THI, Linara Urban Forest was classified uncomfortable with values > 26. The perceptions of visitors to the Linara Urban Forest was in comfort categories. Keywords: the comfort level, urban forest, vegetation’s density.

Abstract

The development of urban area was accured quickly and lead to many environmentalproblems such as the rising of temperatures and decreasing of environmental quality. Greenopen space (RTH)was needed to overcome those problems.  The objectives of the researchwere to figure out the characteristics of vegetation in Patriot Bina Bangsa Urban Forest(including the species, density, broad canopy coverage), to figure out comfort index ofPatriot Bina Bangsa Urban Forest and to find out the visitor’s perception about comfortsvalue of facilities.  The analysis of vegetation was employed as the method of data collectionsensus method was used as the sampling method, and temperature humidity index (THI) wasused to determine the comfort level.  Interview techniques with random sampling method wasused to determine the visitors perception.  The result showed that the vegetationcharacteristics of Patriot Bina Bangsa Urban Forest took effects to temperature andhumidity. High density of tree could decrease the air temperature and increase the humidity, where dense canopy class had air temperature at 27.6 ºC and humidity at 80.1%; moderatecanopy class had air temperature at 29.1 ºC and humidity at 73.2%; sparse canopy class hadair temperature at 30.1 ºC and humidity at 70.5%.  Based on the temperature humidity index(THI), Patriot Bina Bangsa Urban Forest was categorized as uncomfortable, with THI values>26.  Most of visitors (77.72%) believed that the facilities wich exist in Patriot Bina BangsaUrban Forest ware categorized good.Key words :Patriot Bina Bangsa Urban Forest, urban forest comfort, city

Abstract

Way Betung watershed is a source of raw water supply utilized by the Talang Mulya community for various purposes, such as for household needs, irrigation of paddy farming and micro hydro power plant. Water availability is closely related to the existing forest presence in the area, the forest land management should be in balance on be half of maintaing water availability. This study aimed to determine the perception of the community and to analyze the economic value of water for household needs, irrigation of paddy farming and micro hydro power plant. This research also calculated the Willingness to Pay of forest and land rehabilitation costs by community. Primary data collection were conducted by interviewing 106 respondents. The results showed that the community appraisal of water resources in Way Betung watershed were good since 88% of respondents are willing to pay for forest rehabilitation. The total economic value of water utilization in Talang Mulya Village was Rp.2.963.540.390/year and the value of willingness to pay for forest rehabilitation costs was Rp.5.833.608/year with average willingness to pay was Rp.22.948/year. Abstract

Lead (Pb) is a heavy metal that naturally exists in the earth's crust and diffuses in smallamounts through natural and artificial processes. This study aims to determine the amount oflead contained in the fruit jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) in the median street BandarLampung City. To know the factors that affect the lead content of jackfruit (Artocarpusheterophyllus) is done regression analysis. Research shows that the lead content of thejackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) in the median of Bandar Lampung City road has exceededthe consumption limit, besides the factors affecting the lead content of the jackfruit(Artocarpus heterophyllus) to be the tree season, the geometry of the bend, the topography ofthe incline and the derivative.

Abstract

Wan Abdul Rachman Forest Park (Tahura WAR) has a useful hydrological function for the surrounding community, especially for the household and rice farmers. Tahura WAR condition that changed function, causing water supply is reduced. The economic value of water needed to be known, so the community can support the sustainability of Tahura WAR. The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of water from Tahura WAR which is a source of water for the surrounding households and rice farmers. The economic value of water is approached by an assessment of the willingness to pay of the community in Batu Putuk urban village that borders directly with Tahura WAR. This research was conducted in August 2017 with the number of respondents is 47. Sampling technique by using purposive sampling and proportionate stratified random sampling. The results showed that the domestic economic value of water is Rp.9,602,428,308/year, while the economic value of rice farming water is Rp.1,050,000/year and willingness to pay from the community and farmers of rice fields is Rp.411,513,920/year. Total economic value of water utilization around Tahura WAR is Rp.10,014,992,228/year. The value proves that the forest could give high benefit to the community from the hydrological function.
