Abstract

THE APPLICATION OF NON-ELECTRIC PUMP (HERON?S FOUNTAIN) FOR DFT HYDROPONIC (DEEP FLOW TECHNIQUE) IN SUKAMERINDU, SUNGAI SERUT, BENGKULU CITY. Science and technology-based community engagement about the application of non-electric pump (Heron?s Fountain) for DFT hydroponics (Deep Flow Technique) have been carried out for mother group (respondent) in Sukamerindu, Sungai Serut, Bengkulu City. The aim of this activity is to apply the Appropriate Technology like hydroponics and Heron?s Fountain pumps. The methods of this activities are carried out by training which include socialization and field practice. This program produces 5 hydroponics which are equipped with Heron?s Fountain pumps and brief guidebook about of technologies. The application of the Heron?s Fountain pump for DFT hydroponics was effective in circulating nutrients for hydroponic plants. The Heron?s Fountain pump works temporarily for 45 minutes (10 liters). It was considered sufficient to circulate nutrients for hydroponic plants as evidenced by the same quality for all plants. All plants grow optimally and more yields than initial estimates. The planting period to harvest using hydroponic technology and the Heron?s Fountain pump is quite short, which is approximately 2.5 months. The use of these two technologies helps partners to start farming without using soil media. The cost of making and operating both systems so as to increase the interest of respondent to implement them independently.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hybridization is one of plant breeding techniques to obtain high yielding varieties. Combining ability and heritability information are needed for evaluating hybrids? performance. The objective of this research was to estimate the combining ability and heritability of tomato yield component traits in a full dialel crosses at lowland. The experiment was conducted  at Leuwikopo Experimental Station IPB, Darmaga, Bogor from March until August 2013. The random model of Griffing method I was used to estimate general combining ability, specific combining ability and heritability. The experiment used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. IPBT1, IPBT13 and IPBT84 had a good general combining ability (GCA) for weight per fruit, fruit size and weight of fruit per plant. IPBT30 and IPBT33 had a good general combining ability (GCA) for number of fruits per plant. IPBT13 × IPBT1 hybrid showed a high and positive specific combining ability (SCA) values for all characters, therefore it can be used for hybrid variety. The highest broad and narrow sense heritability was obtained for fruit size, meanwhile the lowest was obtained for weight of fruit per plant. Weight per fruit, fruit size and weight of fruit per plant characters were influenced by additive and dominant gene effects, whereas number of fruit  per plant was influenced by additive gene effects.      Keywords: additive, dominant, GCA, SCA, heritability

Abstract

The main problem in the cultivation of tomato plants in Indonesia are not available varieties of potentially high yield, good fruit quality and can adapt well to the low altitude. Therefore, the assembly of superior varieties of tomatoes low altitude are needed. Research objective is to determine the genetic diversity, heritability and determine the relationship between the characters for the assembly of tomato varieties are high yielding lowland. The experiments were performed using the Randomized Complete Block Design the single factor that genotype by 20 with three replications. The results showed there are six characters that have a broad genetic diversity and high heritability, namely plant height, leaf length and width, number of fruits per plant, fruit length and width. Correlation analysis between characters indicate the number of fruits per plant suitable for use as a character selection for yield potential. Number of fruits per plant of the highest owned by IPB T23. Fruit weight per plant of the highest owned by IPB T 1.

Abstract

Lada perdu merupakan solusi dalam budidaya lada tanpa tiang panjat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian adalah untuk membuat bibit tanaman lada perdu sebagai percontohan bagi masyarakat di Desa Pulau Panggung Kabupaten Kaur Provinsi Bengkulu untuk mengatasi kendala pada tanaman lada tiang panjat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan pembuatan bibit lada perdu di Desa Pulau Panggung, Kabupaten Kaur. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peserta dalam pembuatan bibit lada perdu memiliki antusias tinggi. Keberhasilan dalam kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah peserta dapat memilih cabang buah sebagai bahan tanam lada perdu. Keberhasilan cabang buah yang ditanam ditandai dengan adanya kuncup daun yang terbentuk. Kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian adalah pembuatan bibit lada perdu dapat dijadikan sebagai teknik baru dalam budidaya lada.

Abstract

Abstrak : Seleksi populasi bersegregasi F2 tomat adalah penyeleksian yang dilakukan pemulia untuk mendapatkan varietas baru tanaman tomat unggulan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun suatu sistem simulasi yang dapat digunakan oleh pemulia dalam menyeleksi populasi bersegregasi F2 tomat; menanamkan pola penyeleksian populasi F2 tomat ke dalam sistem simulasi agar sistem simulasi dapat menggambarkan proses penyeleksian dan mengambil suatu kesimpulan layaknya pola tersebut. Sistem ini dibangun dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Java  dengan IDE Netbeans 8.1. Metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan untuk membangun aplikasi ini adalah model waterfall dan Unified Modeling Language (UML) sebagai perancangan sistem. Pengujian yang digunakan adalah pengujian white box dengan 100%  independent path berhasil dijalankan dan pengujian black box  dengan 95,71% skenario pengujian berhasil. Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini adalah terciptanya sebuah sistem simulasi seleksi populasi F2 tomat yang sesuai dengan hasil perhitungan manual dibuktikan dengan akurasi data sebesar 100%.Kata kunci : Seleksi Populasi F2 Tomat, Sistem Simulasi, waterfall, UML, white box, black box.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain information about the characteristics of 15 genotypes and to study a genetic similarity of each genotype that will be used for producing superior tomato varieties in lowlands. The research was conducted from March to August 2012 at the Experimental Field Leuwikopo Bogor Agricultural University, Darmaga Bogor. The experiment used The Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) using a single factor of genotype with three replications. Characterization and similarity analysis used the method of principal component analysis and cluster analysis. Based on principal component analysis and cluster analysis of tomato genotypes, it can be classified into three groups: group I (IPBT1, IPBT4, IPBT8, IPBT13, IPBT58, IPBT83 and IPBT84), Group II (IPBT3, IPBT23, IPBT30, IPBT33, IPBT34, IPBT53 and IPBT57) and group III (IPBT80). Characters with an influence on the genetic diversity of each component are the size of the cork layer between the scar stalk and the size of the center of the fruit in transverse slices. The genotypes with a high genetic similarity were IPBT1 and IPBT8, while IPBT30 with IPBT80 had a low genetic similarity
