Nonetheless, every business has a risk particularly agricultural product in general, including aren sugar processing business in which the raw resources were obtained from aren. The purpose of this research was to analyze the type and stage of risk related to aren sugar processing business in Kolaka District. Simple random sampling method was used to decide sample on this research. Quantitative descriptive analysis and coefficient of variance was used to analyze types and stages of risk in aren sugar processing business. The result of the research showed that there are six type risks on the extraction process, five type risks on aren cooking process, and one type risk on marketing. Risk types which have quantification value is analyzed for its risk stages, including raw material risk, production risk and price risk. Raw material risk had the highest stage of risk among other risks. Authority for endorsing continuity and development of aren sugar processing business was a based-risk development strategy, especially for raw material risk, as well as mentoring of production risk and marketing management.Keywords. risk, profit, aren sugar processing business

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of production factors on the production of paddy rice in the Unaasi Sub-District of Anggaberi Sub-District, Konawe Regency. The population in this study were 220 lowland rice farmers. The sample in this study amounted to 69 respondents who were determined by the simple random sampling method. The analytical method used is regression analysis with the Cobb-Douglass production function equation. The results of this study indicate that the average yield of wetland rice from 69 respondents in the Unaasi Village of Anggaberi Subdistrict, Konawe Regency was 301 kg/ha with the highest yield of 500 kg/ha and the lowest yield of 100 kg/ha. The factors of production (land area, seeds, and fertilizer score) affect the production of wetland rice in the Unaasi Subdistrict, Anggaberi District, Konawe Regency. While the production factors (spontaneous pesticides, labor, and mutual cooperation) did not affect the production of paddy rice farming in the Unaasi Sub-District of Anggaberi District, Konawe Regency. This indicates that there are still opportunities for lowland rice farmers to increase their production output by optimizing the factors of production they have.

Abstract

Risk and uncertainty were agriculture’s characteristics, especially rice farming. Therefore a farmer must be sure in behavior toward the risk and uncertainty in farming. There were three kinds of risk behavior, namely: risk lovers, risk-averse, and risk neutral. The aims of this research were : (1) to analyze the risk behavior of wet rice field farmer, and (2) to determine social economic factors that influence the risk behavior of wet rice field farmer. Simple random was implemented in sampling method to get about 67 wet rice field farmer. Quadratic utility function analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were implemented in this research. Research findings show that almost wet rice field farmer has risk neutral behavior, namely 62.7%. There were 19.4% wet rice field farmer by the risk lovers behavior, and the remain 17.9% wet rice field farmer have risk-averse behavior. The risk behavior of the wet rice field farmer was influenced by age, a total of family duties, land area, and family labor. The increasing of farmer’s age and a total of family duties will increase the farmer’s loves to his farm risk, while the increase of family labor and the land area will increase the farmer’s averse to his farm risk.
