Abstract

A study of variations in the concentration of NaOH and H2SO4 to purify silica from rice husk ash and its application as adsorbent of Pb2+ and Cu2+ Metal Ions. The NaOH concentrations used were 8%, 9%, 10%, 11%, 12% and 13% and H2SO4 concentrations were 5.4%, 8.16%, 10.88%, and 13.61%. The process of adsorption of Pb2+ and Cu2+ metal ions was carried out at pH (3, 4, 5, 6) and silica masses. The results showed the silica yield obtained in the form of white powder. The highest silica content at 12% NaOH concentration of 41.81% with a purity of 89.09% and H2SO4 concentration is 10.88% at 65.39% with a purity of 94.94% initial content 86.02%. The results of surface structure characterization using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) average size of particle diameter was 0.030 µm. Optimal adsorption process of Pb2+ and Cu2+ metal ions using silica from rice husk occurred at pH 6 and the adsorbent mass was 0.3 gram, the adsorption efficiency was 98% and 86.25% respectively with adsorption capacity of 0.96 mg/g for metal Pb2+ and 0.83 mg/g for Cu2+ metals.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know how materials coherent learning subject and supporting throughDirect Intruction Model (DIM) can increase students achievement in learning Physical Chemistry I.The metode used in this research is classroom action research using Direct Intruction Model (DIM).The results show that materials coherent learning subject and supporting through DIM can increase: (a)achievement in learning Physical Chemistry I increasing for every cycle: cycle I (average = 56,36) ,cycle II (average = 56,72), and cycle III (average = 61,36) ; (b) number of students complete learned(getted score ≥ 66) : cycle I (44,44 %) , cycle II (52,78 %), and cycle III (63,89 %) even complete classis not reached.

Abstract

Study of the transesterification of Calophyllum innophyllum seed oil from Kendari with methanol has been conducted. The purpose of the research to determine of the yield of ester produced in transesterification process with methanol, the viscosity of biodiesel produced, moisture content of biodiesel produced, density of biodiesel produced. The methods used in this study are sample preparation, transesterification process, biodiesel quality parameter test consisting of viscosity, moisture content and density. The results showed that good concentration of phosphoric acid was used to remove the gum is 85%, the yield of ester produced in the process of transesterification with methanol is 111,647%, parameter of biodiesel quality measured that viscosity = 0,315 mm2/ s not fulfill Indonesian National Standart (INS), water content is 0.02 meets the INS and the density = 0.8725 g / cm3 meets the INS standard

Abstract

A study has been conducted on the transesterification of Calophyllum innophyllum seed oil with ethanol. The purpose of this research is to determine the comparison of concentration of phosphoric acid used to remove the gum on the oil, ester content is produced in the process of transesterification with ethanol, the ester yield obtained after the final stage of the transesterification process, the viscosity of the biodiesel produced, moisture content of biodiesel is produced, and density of biodiesel was produced. This research is taken based on consideration production biodiesel by direct transesterification process. Based on research result of good phosphoric acid concentration used to remove oil gum is 85%, volume of biodiesel produced at transesterification equal to 150 mL with yield 80,89%, biodiesel quality parameter measured that viscosity = 0,05 mm2 / s not fulfill Indonesian National Standart (INS), moisture content = 0.045 meets the INS and the density = 0.881 g / cm3 meets the INS.

Abstract

Abstract

Pembuatan Komposit Magnesium silika berabasis pasir kuarsa menggunkan metode sol gel telah berhasil dilakukan. Hasil SEM pada Komposit Magnesium Silika menunjukkan morfologi materialnya berbentuk butiran dan hasil EDX menunjukkan komposisinya terdiri dari 49,09% Oksigen, 24,78% Magnesium, 12,11% Silikon 9,26% Sulfur dan 4,74% Natrium. Berdasarkan hasil karakterisasi SAA, material Komposit Magnesium Silika memiliki luas permukaan sebesar 26,096 m2/g, memiliki pori yang beragam (mesopori dan mikropori) dan hasil analisis menggunakan metode BJH menunjukkan distribusi pori pada Komposit Magnesium Silika merupakan mesopori dengan ukuran porinya sekitar 39,375 Å. Proses adsorpsi terhadap asam lemak bebas pada CPO menggunakan Komposit Magnesiu Silika berlangsung baik pada waktu 72 jam dengan kapasitas adsorbsi 699,75 mg/g dan masa optimum komposit magnesium silika 1 gram dengan kapasitas adsorbsi sebesar 860 mg/g. Hasil menunjukkan Komposit Magnesium Silika dapat menjadi alternatif adsorben rendah biaya dalam penurunan kadar asam lemak bebas pada CPO.Kata kunci: Pasir kuarsa, Komposit Magnesium Silika, Minyak kelapa sawit, Metode sol-gel, Asam lemak bebas dan Adsorbsi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan dan peningkatan  hasil belajar siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit kelas X MIPA SMAN 1 Samaturu.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experimental (eksperimen semu) yang menerapkan model pembelajaran pencapaian konsep dengan desain eksperimen Non equivalen Control Group Design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MIPA1 Sebanyak 29 orang sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas X MIPA2 sebanyak 29 orang sebagai kelas control dengan tehnik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal pilihan ganda berjumlah 25 butir soal dan lembar observasi  siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: rata-rata hasil belajar siswa kelas eksperimen sebelum dan setelah penerapan pembelajaran pencapaian konsep berturut-turut 63,4 dan 79,5. Rata -rata hasil belajar siswa kelas kontrol sebelum dan setelah penerapan pembelajaran langsung berturut-turut  56,7 dan 64,2. Tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai rata-rata pretest siswa kelas eksperimen dengan nilai rata-rata pretest siswa kelas kontrol sebelum dilakukan  pembelajaran berdasarkan nilai thitung  (1,278)  < ttabel (2,003). Nilai rata-rata posttest siswa eksperimen lebih baik secara signifikan dari pada nilai rata-rata posttest siswa kelas kontrol berdasarkan  nilai thitung  (3,340)> ttabel  (2,003). Nilai rata-rata N-gain  siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik secara signifikan dari pada nilai rata-rata N-gain siswa kelas kontrol berdasarkan nilai thitung  (4,850)> ttabel (2,003). Model pembelajaran pencapaian konsep  efektif digunakan pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit.Kata Kunci : Pencapaian Konsep, Larutan Elektrolit dan Non Elektrolit,  Hasil Belajar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu pemanasan terhadap karakteristik selulosa kulit buah kakao yang dihasilkan dan untuk mengetahui persen rendemen ekstraksi selulosa kulit buah kakao. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode delignifikasi menggunakan pelarut NaOH 12%. Adapun uji yang dilakukan seperti uji Organoleptik dengan hasil yang diperoleh selulosa kulit buah kakao yang putih dan tidak berasa. Sampel s1 dengan lama pemanasan 2 jam diperoleh rendemen selulosa sebesar 20,23 %, sampel s2 dengan lama pemanasan 3 jam diperoleh rendemen sebesar 19,27 % dan sampel s3 dengan lama pemanasan 4 jam diperoleh rendemen sebesar 18,02 %. Uji bilangan gelombang menggunakan FTIR diperoleh hasil ketiga sampel memiliki gugus yang terdapat pada selulosa yaitu vibrasi ulur OH (3200- 3500), ulur CH(2850-3000) & ulur C=O (1650-1780). Nilai pH sampel s1, s2 & s3 berturut-turut yaitu 6,22 ; 6,21 & 6,07. Ketiga sampel telah memenuhi kriteria pH yang ditentukan olehUnited State Pharmacopeia(USP). Uji susut pengeringan untuk sampel s1, s2, s3 berturut-turut dipeoleh hasil 13,94 (%), 2,34 (%) & 1,28 (%). Sampel s2 dan s3 memenuhi kriteria USP yaitu selulosa dengan susut pengeringan <7 (%). Hasil uji kadar abu untuk sampel s1, s2 & s3 berturut-turut yaitu 2,1; 1,42; & 1,1. Ketiga sampel belum memenuhi standar USP yang menetapkan kadar abu<0,1 % karena pelarutan mineral oleh NaOH belum maksimal. Uji kelarutan untuk sampel s1, s2, & s3 diperoleh hasil 2,62; 1,02 & 0,2 %. Hanya sampel s3 yang memenuhi kriteria USP. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa lama pemanasan 4 jam merupakan waktu terbaik untuk mengesktraksi selulosa limbah kulit kakao
