Abstract

The dissemination of new varieties produced Agricultural Research are usually constrained by farmer preference at the farm level. The level of preferences determined the admissibility of a high-yielding varieties those were introduced. The study of preference was conducted in Lubuk Sakti village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra from April until August 2013. The location is the location of the demonstration plot studies testing new varieties (VUB) Agricultural Research results. Preference test conducted on rice and rice from Ciherang, Inpari 10, Inpari Inpari 12 and 14. Respondents consisted of 20 farmers who are members of farmer groups Rays Way. Parameter assessment consists of rice appearance, color and aroma while the rice is composed of taste, color, texture and aroma. As for the scale for the assessment of rice and rice namely: (1) Very dislike, (2) Dislike, (3) Somewhat Like, (4) Like and (5) Very Like it. The results showed that Inpari 10, Inpari 14 and Ciherang has the potential to be developed in the swampy marsh areas have a preference for rice and rice were good enough that somewhatlike to like. Most farmers in the swampy wetlands preferred rice varieties have furnished (rice fluffier texture).

Abstract

Indonensian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) has issued some fertilization recommendations, such as fertilization based on Soil Test Kit for Low Land Rice (PUTS) and Planting Calendar (PC). The reasearch aimed to introduce and examine the effects of various fertilizer recommendations, especially on low land. The research was conducted in Lubuk Sakti village, Indralaya sub-district, Ogan Ilir district from April to Agustus 2013. The research was arranged in 3 treatments fertilization based on PUTS,  PC and farmer practice (control). The rice varieties used Inpari 12. Legowo plating system was applied by 4:1 (plant spacing 25 x 50 x 12.5 cm) and farmers practice (plant spacing 25 x 25 cm). The plot size was 13 m x 27.5 m. The results showed that both of fertilizer recommendations issued by IAARD were able to increase rice productivity than control.  STK, PC and control with the yield 5.60 t/ha, 6.56 t/ha and 5,20 t/ha, respectively. Fertilizer recommendations also reduced rice pests and diseases.

Abstract

Somantri RU, Syahri S, Thamrin T. 2019. Agronomic and economic analysis of soybeans which is grew by monoculture and polyculture systems in South Sumatra. Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal: Journal of Suboptimal Lands. 8(2):159-172.  The presence of shade and other limiting factors in the crops of plantation plants will certainly affect the growth and soybean yield were compared by monoculture. The objective of the research was to know of agronomic performance and farming feasibility of soybeans which are cultivated by polyculture and monoculture systems. Soybeans were planted in two systems namely monoculture (soybean) and polyculture (soybean are intercropped with 3 years of rubber trees).  Both of Dena 1 and Anjasmoro varieties were cropped in those systems. Soybeans are cropped by using planting machine (ATBJ) which has planting distance 20 cm x 40 cm (1-2 seeds per hole). Plants were fertilized with 50 kg Urea per ha, 150 kg TSP per ha, 150 kg KCl per ha, manure 2,000 kg per ha, and dolomite 1,000 kg per ha. Mower were used for harvesting. The results showed that the growth and soybean yield in monoculture system was better than the polyculture. Yield of Anjasmoro in monoculture was 15.35 ku per ha, whereas the polyculture was 4.72 ku per ha. Meanwhile, the productivity of Dena 1 was 14.80 ku per ha and 7.38 ku per ha in polyculture system. The polyculture had a higher value of the land equivalent ratio than monoculture of rubber trees. Economically, the two planting systems that were examined also deserve to be done by farmers, where the value R/C > 1

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Fertilizer Recommendations Package on Rice Productivity in Freshwater Land of Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera. Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development, Ministry of Agriculture has issued fertilizer recommendation package based on soil test kit for lowland rice (PUTS) and integrated cropping calendar (KATAM). Crop growth and yield of rice in freshwater land is mostly affected by rice varieties and fertilizer application due to variation in soil conditions. The study aim was to determine the effects of both fertilizer technologies on growth and yield as well as suppression of pest attacks of three rice varieties in lowland swampy areas of South Sumatera. The experiment was conducted in Lubuk Sakti village Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera from April to August 2013. It was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven technology packages consisted of three rice varieties (Inpari 10, Inpari 12, Inpari 14) and two fertilizer technologies. Legowo 4:1 type 1 was applied for all treatments except for farmer’s technology where transplanting spacing was 20x20 cm. The results showed that combination between fertilizer recommendation package and rice variety gave significant effect on plant growth, yield and pest attack of rice crop. Fertilizer recommendation fromKATAM combined with Inpari 12 rice variety gave the highest productivity at 8,2 t grain/ha. The technology package of PUTS showed better effect on suppressing the intensity of counterfeit white pest and blast diseases upto 55.8% and 68% respectively. Keywords: Fertilization, freshwater land, riceABSTRAKBadan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pertanian telah menghasilkan rekomendasi teknologi pemupukan berdasarkan Perangkat Uji Tanah Sawah (PUTS) dan Kalender Tanam (KATAM) Terpadu. Pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman padi di lahan rawa lebak sangat dipengaruhi oleh varietas padi dan pemupukan mengingat karakteristik tanahnya beragam. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh rekomendasi paket pemupukan terhadap pertumbuhan, produktivitas serta penekanan serangan hama penyakit tiga varietas padi di lahan lebak SumateraSelatan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Lubuk Sakti, Kecamatan Indralaya Kabupaten Ogan Ilir dari April hingga Agustus 2013. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tujuh perlakuan kombinasi antara varietas (Inpari 10, Inpari 12, Inpari 14) dan dosis pemupukan (PUTS dan KATAM Terpadu), sehingga diperoleh paket: Inpari 10 PUTS, Inpari 10 KATAM, Inpari 12 PUTS, Inpari 12 KATAM, Inpari 14 PUTS, Inpari 14 KATAM dan Inpari 12 Cara Petani. Penanaman dilakukan dengan sistem tanam tegel (20 cm x 20 cm) untuk cara petani, dan sistem tanam jajar legowo 4:1 tipe 1 untuk perlakuan rekomendasi pemupukan PUTS dan KATAM.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi rekomendasi pemupukan dan varietas padi berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil serta tingkat serangan hama dan penyakit tanaman. Rekomendasi pemupukan KATAM pada varietas Inpari 12 memberikan produktivitas tertinggi, yaitu 8,2 t GKG/ha. Sedangkan paket rekomendasi pemupukan PUTS mampu menekan intensitas serangan hama putih palsu dan penyakit blas lebih tinggi, yaitu masing-masing 55,8% dan 68%.Kata kunci: Padi, pemupukan, rawa lebak

Abstract

Varietas unggul memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap peningkatan produksi padi. Sumbangan penggunaan varietas unggul terhadap peningkatan produksi padi nasional mencapai 56%, sementara interaksi antara air irigasi, varietas unggul, dan pemupukan terhadap laju kenaikan produksi padi memberikan kontribusi hingga 75%. Penggunaan varietas unggul juga berkontribusi terhadap penurunan penggunaan pestisida. Namun, penggunaan varietas unggul di tingkat petani masih rendah. Beberapa faktor yang menghambat pengembangan varietas unggul ialah anggapan bahwa keunggulan varietas baru tidak sebanding dengan varietas yang ada, industri benih belum berminat mengembangkan varietas unggul, dan terbatasnya benih sumber untuk perbanyakan benih secara komersial. Tingkat komersialisasi varietas unggul dipengaruhi oleh produktivitas, kesesuaian mutu produk dengan selera konsumen, ketahanan terhadap hama dan penyakit, serta harga jual. Untuk mendukung percepatan adopsi varietas unggul padi, perlu kebijakan dalam bentuk peraturan daerah peningkatan produksi padi, jaminan sumber permodalan, penyediaan input terutama benih sumber, jaminan pemasaran dan harga jual gabah, kemitraan yang harmonis antarpemangku kepentingan, penguatan yang menarik hubungan dengan sumber informasi teknologi dan pasar output, reformasi, reorientasi dan revitalisasi kelembagaan petani, penguatan kelembagaan penyuluhan, serta pendekatan kepada tokohmasyarakat.

Abstract

Somantri et al, 2019. Potential of Several Soybean Varieties in Dry Land of South Sumatera. pp. 473-481. Soybean productivity is determined by climate, land suitability also innovations applied such as the use of superior varieties.  Soybean cropping areas mostly covers ricefield and dry land in South Sumatera, in where rice field fertility is better than dry land.  With total of 364.583 Ha dry land, soybean cultivation is potential to be developed in South Sumatera to obtain self-sufficiency and minimize soybean imports.  The activity was carried out in Talang Ubi Sub-district in Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) District in 2018.  The study was aimed to understand the growth and yield of some adaptive soybean superior varieties (VUB) in dry land of South Sumatera.  Technologies applied was the use of several soybean VUB i.e. Burangrang, Dering 1. Demas 1 dan Anjasmoro, fertilizer based on Dry Land Test Kit (PUTK), the use of manual grains seeder (ATBJ), Rhizobium application on seeds and integrated pest control. The result showed that the highest yield was obtained from Dering 1 for 2,3 t/ha of dry seed and the lowest was Burangrang for 1,36 t/ha.

Palembang: Unsri Press. The study was carried out on 3 ha farmer?s field on swamp land in Gelebak Dalam Village, Rambutan sub-district, district of Banyuasin, from January to December 2017. The cultivation technology studied is the using of large number of rice seedlings which is known as Hazton system. The study was arranged on a randomized block design with a combination of varieties and number of seedlings. Varieties were used is Inpari 30, Inpari 33, Inpara 2 and Inpara 4 which tolerant to swamp area. The cultivation technologies, whereas, are consisting of Hazton 1/T1 (10-20 seedlings/hole), Hazton 2/T2 (20-30 seedlings/hole) and integrated crop management/PTT (T3). Data were observed is plant growth and yield of rice, pests attach and economic analysys. The results show that the best plant growth is Hazton T1. The number of productive tillers produced by Hazton T1 and T2 technology is higher than PTT technology, but the percentage of the formation of productive tillers is lower than PTT technology (<70% tillers were formed). Hazton technology influences the intensity of pest attacks, where the intensity of pest attacks is higher than PTT technology. The results of the study also showed that rice productivity produced in various treatments was relatively lower than the desired target, which in general rice province only reached 4 t/ha. The difference in average yield between PTT technology and Hazton is only 0.2 t. The economic analysis indicate that PTT technology is more profitable than the Hazton system, which is showed on both of B/C and R/C ratio. Keywords: hazton system, integrated crop management, paddy, swamp area, South Sumatera

Abstract

Burkholderia glumae, before mid-2018, is categorized as plant quarantine pest A2 Group 1 that its existence has been detected in Indonesia. B. glumae  has been known to spread in the central production of rice in Java, Sumatra, Borneo dan Sulawesi. This review aimed to explain the strategies for B. glumae detection through its characteristics and to prevent the divergence  of this bacterium in Indonesia. The previous studies reported that the bacteria could reduce yield up to 75% and caused the decrease  of weight-grain or the increase  of empty grain. The disease intensity is affected by environmental and physiological factors such as warm temperature at nighttime and high rainfall intensity. The optimum temperature for the development of the disease is 30?35°C. Moreover, the pathogen could survive at a temperature of 41°C. The tropical area of 32-36°C are suitable for B. glumae. Recently, the effective control of the disease in the field has not been found yet. Meanwhile, early detection of the disease is not yet determined,  even though  it is necessary  to prevent its spread in rice cultivation in Indonesia. Detection of the disease by Agricultural Quarantine Agency as a frontline is needed to check the entry of the disease carried by the import activities of the seed. Detection in the suspected field by protection institutes through frequent surveillance in central production areas of rice should be considered  as an important task.. The effective techniques to prevent B. glumae are the use of resistant varieties, the practice of seed treatments (using antibacterial, bactericide, heat treatment or plant extract), and  the application of oxolinic acid to the crops.
