Abstract

Occupational diseases arise due to inbalance between task and ability. This condition cause unsave work position such as static and repetitive positions continuously. It can result in occupational diseases and affect to decrease of work productivity. Among the body that is vulnerable to irritate or get injured is neck the most mobile region and need ergonomic intervention. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of work posture education, electrotherapy modality and exercise therapy in reducing neck pain and increasing the range of motion in mechanical neck pain. This study was a pre-experimental research using one-group pre-test and post-test design. The results showed that the application of work posture education, electrotherapy and exercise therapy can reduce neck pain (p<0,05) and increase the range of motion (p<0,05). It can be concluded that the application of work posture education, electrotherapy and exercise therapy can reduce neck pain and increase the range of motion in mechanical neck pain.

Abstract

ABTSRACT Introduction: Physical exercise as anticipate of hypertension along with nutrition and medicines. One of physical exercise that can be applicated here is relaxation techniques which is showed positive impact in decreased blood pressure. Objective: Determine the difference between PMR intervention with SSBM intervention to reduce blood pressure for grade I hypertension patients whose consumed anti-hypertension medicine in badung regency. Methods: Experimental method Pre and post-test control group design and used 24 subjects, divided in to 2 groups, in which the experimental group I (n=12) received progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) while the treatment group 2 (n=12) received slow stroke back massage (SSBM). Intervention is given 3 times a week for 4 weeks. This study was using simple random sampling. Blood pressure was measured by sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. Result: Independent Sample T-test showed there was significant difference between Group 1 and Group 2 which (p<0.05) for systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation intervention decrease blood pressure more than slow stroke back massage intervention in patients grade I hypertension whose consumed anti-hypertension medicine in Badung Regency. Keywords: progressive muscle relaxation, slow stroke back massage, grade I hypertension, blood pressure

Abstract

Introduction: A study shows the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in the elbow most often diagnosed with elbow and forearm conditions is tennis elbow. Tennis Elbow, a common disease that can cause a decrease in productivity and economic losses. Treatment of physiotherapy that can be given for myofascial syndrome can be therapeutic modalities such as Ultrasound and manual therapy such as Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Myofascial Release Technique (MRT). Method: This is an experimental study with pre and post test control group design. The number of samples was 24 people, which divided into 2 groups. Group I was given MRT with ultrasound, while Group II was given MET with ultrasound. Disability is measured by the Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation Questionnaire. Results: Based on the results of the Paired Sample t-test in Group I and Group II the value of p <0.001 stated that there was a significant change after giving the exercise to each group. Furthermore, the comparison test between both groups used the independent sample t-test and p value <0.05. This shows that there are significant differences between groups. Conclusion: MRT further reduces disability due to tennis elbow compared to MET.Keywords: tennis elbow, disability, PRTEE, MET, MRT.
