Abstract

Penurunan produksi palawija dan serangan hama daun merupakan masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh kelompok tani Sada Nioga dan Juma Ndeher di Desa Sikeben Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, telah dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berbasis penelitian terapan untuk: (1) mengatasi kekurangan ketersediaan kompos dan pestisida alami; (2) meningkatkan hasil produksi palawija melalui pemanfaatan kompos dan pestisida alami dari limbah pertanian dan peternakan; dan (3) membuka peluang usaha dalam produksi kompos dan pestisida alami. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan mencakup: penyuluhan penggunaan kompos dan pestisida alami; perancangan perajang mekanik dan fermentor; dan pelatihan produksi kompos dan pestisida alami dari limbah kulit jengkol, cabe busuk dan urine sapi pada tanaman palawija yang dikelola oleh kedua mitra. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan masing-masing 90% dan 80% anggota kelompok dari Kelompok Tani Sada Nioga dan Kelompok Tani Juma Ndeher telah terampil dalam mengolah kompos dengan durasi pengolahan selama 11 hari. Kualitas kompos (C/N, P2O5, K2O dan N) pada kelompok Sada Nioga adalah masingmasing 8.80%, 2.85%, 1.58% dan 0.08%; sedangkan pada Kelompok Juma Ndeher pada kadar 9.0%, 3.10%, 1.52% dan 0.05%. Produk pestisida yang dihasilkan mengandung metabolit sekunder fenolik(+++), alkaloid (++++) dan saponim (+). Peningkatan produksi tanaman palawija mencapai 27.14% setelah menggunakan kompos dan pestisida alami.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDiversity of bacteria and archaea  can not be learned completely   yet not identified perfectly. This is due to the abundant amount of diversity of microorganisms. The existence of molecular technologies allow to identify quickly and accurately the organism. Classification approach is based on the value of character and phylogenetic fenetik make a meaningful classification of microorganisms. Abstract

ABSTRACK This study aims to identify the endophytic fungus from the bark of the plant raru (Cotylelobium melanoxylon). This study uses identification technique manually by viewing and comparing the macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics of each isolate endophytic fungi then seek to obtain dendogram similarity index which divides each isolate into several clusters/genus. Data were analyzed using cluster analysis Simple Matching Coefficient in the Multi Variate Statistical Package (MVSP) where each isolate that had ≥70 % similarity indices are grouped into one cluster/genus. The results of cluster analysis to get 8 cluster/genus endophytic fungi found in the bark of plants raru (Cotylelobium melanoxylon). Eighth genus included the genus Alternaria, Aspergillus, Botrytis, Debaromyces, Fusarium, Mycelia sterile, Nigrospora, and Scopulariopsis. Abstract

Program tanaman organik adalah salah satu program yang dicanangkan oleh pemerintah untukmengendalikan dampak bahan kimia anorganik terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan.  Kegiatan Ipteks bagiMasyarakat (IbM) ini bertujuan memberi solusi kepada mitra  pengusaha pemotongan ayam untukmemanfaatkan limbah usaha dan mitra kelompok tani untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pupukorganik dalamusaha meningkatkan produksi pertanian organik dengan memanfaatkan limbah pertanian dan limbahusahapotong ayam menjadi pupuk organik cair melalui penerapan teknologi fermentasi EM4. Manfaatkegiatan ini adalah pengendalian limbah usaha dan pelestarian lingkungan, penyediaan pupuk organik,mewujudkan tanaman organik dan berpeluang berwirausaha baru pupuk organik cair serta meningkatkanpendapatan kedua kelompok mitra. Kegiatan berlangsung lima bulan, melibatkan tiga orang dosen dandua mahasiswa. Metode yang diterapkan adalah penyuluhan, rancang bangun alat komposter, demostrasidan pelatihan produksi pupuk organik cair, rekomendasi dan  penerapan pupuk cair pada tanaman.  Hasilevaluasi kegiatan,  80% anggota kedua mitra trampil mengolah pupuk organik cair selama 21 hari. Teksturpupuk organik cair cukup baik yaitu kental dan warnanya hitam.  Pupuk kompos cair berbahan organiklimbah potong ayam, mengandung Nirogen (N) 0,26 %;  fosfor (P2O5)  0,03 % dan  K (KO) 0,04. Pupukorganik cair berbahan organik limbah pertanian/pasar sayuran (bonggol pisang, kangkung, sawi)mengandung unsur Nirogen (N) 0,08 %; fosfor (P2O5)  0,02 % dan  K (KO) 0,04.  Kapasitas alat komposterdapat menghasilkan 100 L lindi (pupuk kompos cair) dalam waktu 21 hari. Peningkatan produksi tanamanjagung dan kacang putih setelah penggunaan pupuk organik cair adalah 28,57 % dan 20,00%.

Abstract

The Dipterocarpaceae plant, raru (Cotylelobium melanoxylon) is widespread in Southeast Asia. The bark of raru has been used by local communities in North Sumatera as antidiarrheal drugs due to its antibacterial compounds. The antibacterial activity of the rarus bark is induced by endophytic fungi that live in the region of the bark. This study aimed to identify the endophytic fungi-producer of antibacterial compounds in the bark of raru (C. melanoxylon) by means of molecular analysis. In general, endophytic fungi have the ability to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Thirty-eight isolates of endophytic fungi were isolated from the bark of raru. Selection of isolates for antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 35218 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 used the dual culture assay. Selection using the dual culture assay yielded 6 endophytic fungal isolates that have the ability to inhibit the growth of test bacteria. EF10A sample was the most powerful isolate inhibiting the growth of both bacteria test. Those six bacteria molecularly identified used a sequence generated from ITS rDNA region. Based on rDNA ITS region sequences, isolate, the producers of the antibacterial compound were identified as Talaromyces cellulolyticus, Penicillium purpurogenum, Aspergillus sp., Trichoderma harzianum, and Aspergillus orizae. The results of this study can be used by researchers to explore more potential endophytic fungi in raru plants (C. melanoxylon) as a source of medicine. The data obtained need to be supported by further research to isolate the bioactive compounds that can inhibit the growth of microbial pathogens.
