Abstract

The oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) seed generally in form of germinated seed. Germinated seed purchased from oil palm seed producers often contained twin seedlings. The twin seedlings must be separated in pre-nursery before transplanted to the main-nursery. The aim of this research was to determine the best time of oil palm twin seedlings separation in nursery. The research was conducted on April to November 2016 in Politeknik Negeri Lampung. Single-factor experiment was arranged in randomized block design with three replications. The treatment was the age of twin seedling i.e.: 8 weeks after sowing (W1), 9 weeks after sowing (W2), 10 weeks after sowing (W3) and 11 weeks after sowing (W4). The data were analysed by general linear model analysis of variance (ANOVA). The means were separated using HSD at α=5% level. The result show the best time to separate the twin seedling in pre-nurserys is 9-11 weeks after sowing. Keywords: main-nursery, multi embryo, pre-nursery, twin seedlings

Abstract

The oil palms (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) are highlyefcient oil producers. It produces ve to seven timesmore vegetable oil per hectare than soybean, sunower,and rapeseed. The objectives of this research were tostudy the role of organic and N, P, and K fertilizers ongrowth of one-year-old immature oil palm on marginalsoil in Jonggol. The research was conducted at IPBCargill Teaching Farm (ICTF) of Oil Palm, Jonggol,Bogor,West Java from March 2013 to March 2014. Theexperiment was arranged in a factorial experimentfollowing a randomized block design with threereplications. The rst factor was organic fertilizer(manure) consisting of 0 (O), 15 (O1) and 30 (O2) kg pertree per year. The second factor was inorganic fertilizerconsisting of 0 (S0); 0.25 kg N + 0.25 kg P O + 0.39 kg 2 5K O(S ) 0.50 k N+ 0.50 kg P O + 0.78 kg K O(S ) 2 25 2 1and g 2per tree. The results demonstrated that application ofmanure up to 30 kg per tree per year did not affect thegrowth of one-year-old oil palm. Application of 0.50 kg N+ 0.50 kg P O + 0.78 kg K O highest 2 5 2 per tree gave theresult in increasing frond production, stem girth, and leafnutrient concentration. The results of leaf analysis andplant growth responses suggested that the rates ofmanure and inorganic fertilizers applied in this study arenot sufcient to improve young oil palm growth inmarginal soil in Jonggol.Keywords: cow manure, critical nutrient level, inorganicfertilizer, soil fertility, vegetative growth

Abstract

ABSTRACTOil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is the most efficient vegetable oil producer. It produces five to seven times more vegetable oil per hectare than the other vegetable oil producing crops. The objective of this research was to study the role of organic and NPK compound fertilizers application to one-year-old oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) on marginal land. The research was conducted at IPB-Cargilll Teaching Farm of Oil Palm, Jonggol, Bogor, West Java from March 2013 to March 2014. The experiment was carried out as factorial experiment in a randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was organic fertilizer consisted of 0, 15, and 30 kg per palm. The second factor was NPK compound fertilizers 15:15:15 consisted of 0, 1.3 and 2.6 kg per palm. The results showed that no interaction effect between organic and NPK compound fertilizers on all of variables observed. Marginal soils in Jonggol required high rate of fertilizers to produce good performance of one-year-old oil palm. Application of 30 kg organic fertilizer per palm or 2.6 kg NPK compound fertilizers 15:15:15 per palm resulted in the highest vegetative growth of one-year-old oil palm on marginal land in Jonggol.Keywords: cow dung, critical nutrient level, slow release fertilizer, Ultisols, vegetative growth

Abstract

Pepper is one of the spice crops that contribute to improving the Indonesian economy. Pepper cultivation is carried out on a small scale to a large scale. Pepper propagation by cutting is considered quite effective and efficient. Politeknik Negeri Lampung has been develop the Pepper Nursery Unit since 2007. This unit runs a business in the production of climbing pepper seedling, shrub pepper seedling, and pepper nursery training. The aim of this program is to support the mission of Politeknik Negeri Lampung in preparing itself to face college campus autonomy through the acquisition of revenue from established business units, accelerating the process of developing an entrepreneurial cultural system in the campus environment, providing competency development opportunities for staff and students, and increasing the role of the Politeknik Negeri Lampung for the community, especially in agriculture. The impact of this program is the availability of hight quality pepper seedling, increasing income generating Politeknik Negeri Lampung, establishment of the Pepper Nursery Unit and training service, improving the skills of Politeknik Negeri Lampung students in pepper nursery, developing entrepreneurial potential for students and staff, as well as increasing the role of Lampung State Polytechnic in community service activities.Keywords—Campus entrepreuneurship, estate crop, nursery business.

Abstract

Average production of pepper obtained from the of farmers in Air Naningan regency is between 350-450 kg/ha/year, which still very low, so that they must be helped to overcome the problems. The purpose of this activity was to conduct the pepper seedlings have mycorrhiza technologies. The methods that used include a survey to identify the feasibility and desire targeted farmers, extension with a lecture and sharing, training, and demonstration plots. The output from extension program was increasing knowledge, understanding, and skills farmer members in applying the pepper seedlings have mycorrhiza technologies so that cultivation can become a sustainable pepper production and became a mainstay of alternative sources of income of targeted farmers. In addition, these activities can increase Politeknik Negeri Lampung role in efforts to disseminate applied technology in an effort to improve social welfare in Lampung. Keywords : MFA, pepper seedling, single internode seedling

Abstract

Land degradation due to intensive soil tillage can decrease agricultural production. This research aims to obtain the effect of soil tillage system, to obtain the effect of various rate of N on soil chemical properties, and to gain interaction between soil systems and N residues on soil chemical properties of the 29th year using leguminosae plant indicator. The research was conducted at State Polytechnic of Lampung from May 2016 to November 2016. The research use randomized block design with two factors. The first factor is the various of tillage soil systems consisting of intensive soil tillage (IST), minimum tillage (MT), and no-tillage (NT). The second factor is the residue of nitrogen fertilizer (Urea) from the previous plant with three levels i.e. 0 kg N/ha (N0), 100 kg N/ha (N1), and 200 kg N/ha (N2). The experiment was repeated 4 times. Observational variables were pH, organic carbon, total Nitrogen, available phosphorus (H2O), total Potassium, and weight of shoot. Data were analysed using Anova and  followed  by LSD-test at α = 0,05. The Result showed that no interaction effect between soil tillage system and N fertilizer residue. No-tillage resulting the highest  available phosphorus (10,713). Nitrogen fertilizer residue at the rate of 200 kg/ha resulting the lowest soil pH value (5,980).

Abstract

Bibit kelapa sawit di pembibitan utama membutuhkan air sekitar 2 l/hari/tanaman. Hal ini menimbulkan kendala dalam penyediaan air pada musim kemarau dan daerah dengan tingkat curah hujan yang rendah sehingga diperlukan upaya mengurangi kehilangan air akibat penguapan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan jenis mulsa organik terbaik pada pembibitan utama kelapa sawit, mendapatkan volume penyiraman terbaik pada pembibitan utama kelapa sawit dan mendapatkan interaksi terbaik antara jenis mulsa dan volume penyiraman pada pembibitan utama kelapa sawit. Percobaan lapangan telah dilakukan pada Juli 2017 hingga Desember 2017 dengan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial. Faktor pertama yaitu jenis mulsa organik yang terdiri atas empat taraf: tanpa mulsa (M0), mulsa jerami padi (M1), mulsa sekam padi (M2), dan mulsa tandan kosong kelapa sawit (M3). Faktor kedua yaitu volume pemberian air irigasi yang terdiri atas dua taraf, yaitu pemberian air 1 l/hari/tanaman (I1) dan pemberian air 2 l/hari/tanaman (I2). Satuan pengamatan terdiri atas tiga bibit kelapa sawit dalam polibag untuk tiap kombinasi perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian mulsa organik belum mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit di pembibitan utama. Pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit terbaik dicapai dengan volume penyiraman 2 l/polibag/hari. Perlakuan kombinasi terbaik adalah mulsa tandan kosong kelapa sawit dan volume penyiraman 2 l/polibag/hari yang memberikan pengaruh terbaik pada kelembaban media tanam di pembibitan utama.

Abstract

Upaya meningkatkan produksi dan pengembalian kesuburan tanah dapat dilakukan dengan aplikasi pupuk organik kompos asam humat, kiambang, dan pupuk kandang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan bagian setek bud chip terbaik, komposisi pupuk organik yang paling efektif, dan interaksi terbaik antara bagian setek bud chip dan komposisi pupuk organik dalam meningkatkan kandungan glukosa, fruktosa, dan sukrosa. Percobaan factorial disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama yaitu tiga bagian setek antara lain: bud chip bagian pangkal (B1), bud chip bagian tengah (B2), dan bud chip bagian puncuk (B3). Faktor kedua yaitu komposisi pupuk organik perbandingan asam humat:kiambang:pupuk kandang yaitu: tanpa pemberian pupuk organik (P0), 70%:20%:10% (P1), 10%:70%:20% (P2),  20%:10%:70% (P3), 30%:30%:40% (P4), pupuk organik asam humat 100 % (P5), kompos kiambang 100 % (P6), dan pupuk kandang 100% (P7). Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis dengan analisis ragam kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT pada taraf nyata 5% jika hasil sidik ragam nyata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan bibit asal bud chip bagian pangkal dan kombinasi pupuk organik 30% asam humat:30% kompos kiambang:40% pupuk kandang menghasilkan perbandingan jumlah kandungan sukrosa:fruktosa paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan kombinasi perlakuan yang lain.
