Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was aimed to asses the quality of food consumption and analyze the associated factors to improve the quality of food consumption of Riau Province, the food deficit region. A descriptive analytical study method was applied; and the data used in this research was secondary data. Descriptive and multiple regression analysis were applied for this study. The results showed that the food consumption quality was low which was dominated by food derived from grains, oils and fats and sugar. Food availability quality, income percapita, and food prices were not significantly associated with the food consumption quality. The strategies to improve the quality of food consumption are through developing a better institutions for food processing and marketing in rural in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of food distribution, and the value-added; increasing people knowledge on food and nutrition.Keywords: deficit region, food quality, food security, nutrition educationABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan menilai kualitas konsumsi pangan penduduk daerah defisit pangan Provinsi Riau dan menganalisis faktor yang memengaruhinya. Pendekatan penelitian adalah deskriptif analitis. Jenis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data sekunder dan uji yang digunakan adalah regresi berganda. Hasil kajian menunjukkan kualitas konsumsi pangan penduduk belum baik, karena masih didominasi oleh konsumsi pangan yang berasal dari kelompok padi-padian, minyak dan lemak serta gula. Ketersediaan pangan, pendapatan per kapita penduduk, harga pangan secara bersama-sama tidak memengaruhi secara signifikan terhadap kualitas konsumsi pangan penduduk. Peningkatan kualitas konsumsi pangan penduduk di daerah defisit pangan dapat dilakukan antara lain dengan mengembangkan kelembagaan pengolahan dan pemasaran di perdesaan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas distribusi pangan dan peningkatan pengetahuan pangan dan gizi masyarakat yang berkelanjutan.Kata kunci: daerah defisit, ketahanan pangan, kualitas pangan, pendidikan gizi

Abstract

Ecotourism is developed in accordance with the existing potential and natural conditions based on 3 (three) main principles, namely efforts to conserve natural resources, environmental education for the community, especially tourists, and empowering the surrounding community. The three main ecotourism destinations in Pariaman City are Angso Duo Island, Turtle Breeding and Mangrove Forest. The research is aimed to describe ecotourism activities and identify its impact to economy of pariaman local poeple in Pariaman City. The study used survey methods with qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data on the implementation of ecotourism is obtained through in-depth interviews with key informants (key informants) consisting of managers, tourists and communities using qualitative descriptive analysis. In other hand, the data related to the impact of developing ecotourism on the economy of the Pariaman local poeple is obtained through surveys of respondents consisting of pariaman locel poeple who owned economic activities both directly and indirectly with ecotourism activities using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that Ecotourism activities in Pariaman City had not yet been managed according to this principle as well, but the existence of destination ecotourism had shown a positive impact on the economy of the pariaman local poeple.

Abstract

Development of rural areas is one of the targets in achieving national development. Industry is a way to accelerate rural development in an effort to improve the living standards of the community, one of them is through a local wisdom-based industry, the Halaban Songket industry. This industry is believed to have great potential for the economy in Nagari Halaban. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the Halaban Songket home industry and the pattern of relations between entrepreneurs and craftsmen in the Halaban Songket Home Industry, and the role of the Halaban Songket industry as an alternative source of household income. This research was conducted with quantitative methods, namely surveys supported by qualitative data. 35 respondents were chosen randomly by multistage sampling method. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of the Halaban Songket industry as a handicraft industry carried out by almost 70 percent of women in Nagari Halaban with an average age of craftsmen is 37 years and the level of junior high school education. Craftsmen and entrepreneurs form patron-client patterns in work relations and social relations activities. As well as the Halaban Songket Industry contributed 55.34 percent to the income of songket craftsmen households.

Abstract

Community Based - Critical Land and Water Resources ManagementProgram is a program to handle critical land and poverty alleviation inIndonesia. The objective of this program is to improve the condition ofthe poor living surrounding critical land forests. Participatory approach isemployed in this program by involving multi-stakeholders to improvecritical land to become productive land in order to increase income andwelfare of the community. The purpose of this study was to analyze theimpact of Community Based - Critical Land and Water ResourcesManagement Program on community?s income who were directlyinvolved in managing the critical land. This study uses a case studyapproach with application of descriptive quantitative and qualitativemethod in data analysis. Nagari Tanjuang Bonai, Lintau Buo UtaraDistrict, Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra Province was purposivelyselected as research location. The respondents were 32 farmers who aremembers of Sago Lestari farmer group (Poktan) as program implementersfrom 2012 to 2016. The primary data were collected using questionnairesfrom farmers, while interview guide was used to obtain information fromkey informants. The results of this study indicate that the program hasbeen able to provide benefits to community in form of increasing infarmers? income. The average income increases by 34.11% of the totalfarmers? income participating in the program. This implies that theprogram has been able to improve the community?s welfare. It indirectlyreduces the area of critical land and change it into productive land.
