Abstract

Abstrak. Kebiasaan merokok merupakan prilaku yang dapat mengakibatkan dampak negatif  bagi kesehatan tubuh seseorang, yaitu dapat menyebabkan perubahan struktur, fungsi saluran pernapasan dan jaringan paru. Asap  rokok mengandung susunan senyawa gas dan partikel seperti karbon dioksida, air, karbon monoksida, partikular (kebanyakan tar), nikotin, nirtogen oksida, hidrogen sianida, amoniak, formaldehida, fenol dan puluhan lainnya senyawa beracun terkenal. Saluran pernapasan adalah bagian tubuh manusia yang berfungsi sebagai tempat lintasan dan tempat pertukaran gas yang diperlukan untuk proses pernapasan, jika ada asap rokok maka mudah terjadi obstruksi jalan napas yang dapat mengakibatkan sesak napas.Abstract. The smoking habit is a behaviour which can cause a negative impact for someone?s body helath, particularly it causes a stucture change, an airway function and a lung biopsy. A smoke consists of a gas compound structure and particle, such as carbon dioxide, water, carbon monoxide and particular (mostly tar), nicotine, nitrogene, oxide, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, formaldehyde, pheno and other tens of poisonous famous compounds. An airway is a part of the human body which has a function to be a place for the passage and the gas exchange which are needed for a breathing process, so that if there is a smoke, the airway obstruction occurs easily which causes a short of breath.

Abstract

Abstrak. Paru dapat mengembang dan mengempis dengan terjadi pertukaran gas yairu inspirasi pengambilan oksigen (O2) dan ekspirasi pengeluaran karbondioksida (CO2) melalui saluran pernapasan, jika terjadi peningkatan produksi sputum dan viskositas yang sulit untuk dibersihkan (obstruksi), juga akibat penyempitan saluran udara sehingga daya kembang paru terganggu. Tujuan penulisan efek obstruksi saluran pernapasan terhadap daya kembang paru supaya dapat memahami di saluran pernapasan mudah mengalami gangguan pembengkakan dan penyempitan sehingga berefek tidak kuat melakukan ekspirasi paksa, bila lama tidak sembuh maka mudah terjadi penyakit paru obstruksi (PPOK). Mendiagnosis daya kembang paru berdasarkan kapasitas vital paksa dan volume udara ekspirasi paksa adalah metode yang sangat membantuuntuk memeriksa fungsi saluran pernapasan dengan pengukuran spirometri, pada orang normal tidak obstruksi nilai ukur Forced Expiratory Volume In One Second (FEV1) mencapai ? 75%, bila ada obstruksi ? 75%. Lungs can inflate and deflate with the exchange of gas, the inspiration of oxygen (02) and the expiration of carbon dioxide (C02) through the respiratory tract. If the production of sputum and viscosity increases which is difficult to clean (obstruction) and the airways narrows, it can hinder the expandability of lung. The purpose of writing the effects of airway obstruction on the expandability of lung is to understand that the respiratory tract is easily swelling and narrowing, resulting in one?s inability to perform forced expiratory. If not immediately treated, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) may develop. Diagnosing the expandability of lung based on forced vital capacity and forced expiratory of air volume is a very helpful method to check the function of the respiratory tract using spirometry measurements. In normal people who are not obstructed, the value of Forced expiratory volume in One Second (Fevi) is 75%, while in those who are, the value is 75%. Abstract

The lack of Indonesian students achievement in the international assessment is due to several factors. Students are not familiar with the problems requiring reasoning, in particular the proportional reasoning. This research aims to identify the distribution and the Level of Cognitive Demands (LCD) of the proportional reasoning problems found in the Year 7 and Year 8 mathematics textbooks based on the 2013 curriculum (revised edition 2014). The data collection was conducted by identifying the proportional reasoning problems found in the whole chapters of the textbooks which are then analysed and classified using the Smiths and Stein?s criteria of LCD (1998). The results reveal that the proportional reasoning problems were only found in the three of 17 chapters namely ratio and proportion, rectangle and triangle, and Pythagorean Theorem, which represent different LCD including Lower-LCD (Low-M and Low-P) and Higher-LCD (High-P). Out of 69 proportional reasoning problem found in the textbooks, the percentage of higher-LCD problems (n=29 ; 42.03%) is less than lower-LCD (n=40;57.97%). In addition, the higher-LCD problems found were only the high-P type. None was found to meet the requirement of High-DM demanding students to conduct ?doing mathematics?, complex approach and self-monitoring or self regulation of students? cognitive process. It is recommended that the proportional reasoning problems, including some High-DM problems, should be provided in each topic in Indonesian mathematics textbooks.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jme.9.1.4145.55-68

Abstract

The study aimed to produce learning module in studying of carbon chemistry for third grade of senior high school students which has value of character and to analyze their perception after use it. This study referred to R D method with Borg Gall?s model which is divided into ten steps; research and collecting of information; planning; product developing; preliminary test; revision of preliminary test; field trial; revision of field trials; field implementation test; improvement of final product; and dissemination and implementation. Data wereanalyzedby using grade of module properness, teachers? responses and students? responses to the module and their perception after use it. Initially, the preliminary test was done by three validators and showed the percentage of 86% with a category of ?very proper?. Then, field trials were graded by teachers among MGMP of chemistry in Banda Aceh and gave positive responses with a percentage of 84% of ?very proper?. After that, the final product was implemented to students in SMAN 10 Fajar Harapan Banda Aceh and indicated that it was ?proper? with a percentage of 76%. Besides that, dissemination and implementation stages were conducted for students in SMAN 1, SMAN 5 and SMAN 6 of Banda Aceh and their perception to that module was 85%. Therefore, it can be concluded that developing of module contained value of character was proper to be used in learning of carbon chemistry.  Keywords: module, learning values, character, carbon chemistry, perception.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of students in understanding of graph based on interpersonal and logical mathematical intelligence. The approach used in this research was mixed methods by using the stepwise mixed model especially sequence explanatory model. The subjects were six students on grade XI of MAN 1 Banda Aceh selected based on students who have interpersonal and logical mathematical intelligence. The results showed that student?s graphics ability with high interpersonal intelligence was in fair criteria, the student was able to translate the graph, but not yet able to interpret and extrapolate the graph. A student with medium interpersonal intelligence had good criteria in understanding the graph when viewed from the ability to translate and interpret the graph, but still made mistakes in interpreting the graph. The ability to understand graphics of low interpersonal students was in good criteria that was shown by smoothly translating graphs, being able to interpret graphs, and being able to extrapolate graphics appropriately. Student?s understanding of graphs of high mathematical logical intelligence was at excellent criteria that were showed by being able to translate graphs, being able to interpret and extrapolate graphs. The ability of understanding graphics in students with medium mathematical logical intelligence was having good criteria means that students are fluent in translating the graph but still lacking in interpreting and extrapolating the graph. Student understanding of graph with low mathematical logical intelligence had inadequate criteria, meaning that student was only able to translate graphs on some translational indicators.Keywords: interpersonal intelligence, logical mathematical intelligence, mathematical understanding.

Abstract

Student mastery of the basic arithmetic operations of mathematics is still low, especially for students who received school education background before heterogens. This research was conducted to determine the type of error that made the students in doing mathematics basic arithmetic operations, increase students' ability to perform basic arithmetic operations through the implementation of the mathematics matriculation, and suitability scores obtained by students with a score of predetermined targets. This research is a descriptive qualitative research subjects were 27 students of class X SMK 2 Langsa. Data were analyzed using the concept of Miles and Huberman: includes the step of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the errors made by the students in solving basic math arithmetic operations are procedural and conceptual errors. Procedural errors do end results is a mistake, an error in the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers. Conceptual error committed is a mistake to equate the denominator in the operation of addition and subtraction of fractions, simplifying error in root form, and errors in rationalizing the denominator.

Abstract

Questioning skills is one of the basic skills taught are important to master teachers. Lack of good questioning skills possessed by teachers can lead students in an attention too. This study aimed to describe the questioning skills junior high school teacher in mathematics. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive research. Subjects in this study are two mathematics teachers from two different schools: one teacher MTsN Matangglumpangdua and one teacher SMP N 5 Peusangan. Qualitative data analysis performed on both the teacher to see the questioning skills of teachers in learning. In general, teachers questioning skills include aspects of pausing, prompting and probing in mathematics has been done, but not all of the indicators on each aspect met for each meeting in both schools. In a study in MTsN during two meetings, at the prompting aspect is not done once the indicator solve the question into several sub-questions of the original question and the probing aspects of displacement indicators do not turn. Furthermore, in a study in junior high school for two meetings, on aspects prompting two indicators do not solve the question into several sub-questions of the original question and review (repeat) information previously provided.

Abstract

Until now student mastery of the material geometry is still relatively low. Many difficulties experienced by students in understanding the geometry of the material, one of which is the difficulty in proving. In addition, the study is not yet available devices that can specifically serve the needs of teachers in the teaching of mathematical proof. Therefore, it is necessary to develop learning tools of proof that can help teachers and train students in the proof of the geometry in school. In this study the evidence used strategy is the strategy of abductive-Deductive. This study aims to develop and produce learning device geometry proof. This type of research is the development of research refers to the model of Plomp through four stages, namely a preliminary investigation stage, the design stage, the stage of realization / construction, and stage of the test, evaluation and revision. This research trials in SMA Laboratorium Unsyiah Banda Aceh. The research showed the average score validator for RPP 4.52, 4.58 LKPD, teaching materials and test 4.54 4.30 learning outcomes, adherence to the 91%, the average score of 3.73 practicality test, 86% students with a positive response, and 80.7% of students complete. This shows that the learning device valid criteria, practical and effective way to improve the geometry of high school students.

Abstract

The purpose of mathematics learning in Permendikbud No. 59 of 2014 requires students are able to understand mathematical concepts, explain the link between concepts and apply concepts or algorithms, are flexible, accurate, efficient, and precise in troubleshooting. But the facts show the students have not been able to understand mathematical concepts well. This condition can be caused by many factors, including students' motivation in learning, models and media used by teachers during the learning process. One model of learning that is presumed to help students to improve understanding and motivation is model of discovery learning aided Macromedia Flash 8. The purpose of this study to determine the increase of understanding mathematical ability and motivation taught with discovery learning aided Macromedia Flash 8 as well as the correlations between mathematical understanding ability and motivation to learn mathematics. This study was an experimental study with pretest-posttest study design group design. The population throughout class XI student of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Sigli, random sample selection is done to determine the experimental class (XI IPA3) and the control class (XI IPA6). The instrument used in this study consisted of mathematical understanding ability instrument and motivation questionnaire of study mathematics.  Based on the results of data analysis using t-test and test of product moment correlation of Pearson gained increased mathematical understanding ability and motivation to learn math through discovery learning model aided Macromedia Flash 8 is better than applying the model of discovery learning but not significant, there is a relationship between the ability of mathematical understanding and motivation through discovery learning model aided macromedia flash 8, the degree of closeness relationship is in enough category.

Abstract

The result of PISA and TIMSS showed that students' mathematics abilities Indonesia is still low, including the ability to think creatively. The ability to think creatively influenced by psychological factors, one of them is anxiety. The efforts that teachers can do to improve creative thinking and coping with anxiety is applying problem posing approach. The problem posing approach can make students creative in issuing ideas to create questions and resolve them through three forms of cognitive activity, namely: presolution posing, within solution posing and posing post solution, then it ramble positive anxiety of students in learning. This study aims to determine the increase in the mathematics creative thinking ability and changes anxiety in learning by using problem posing approach. The study uses a quantitative approach to the type of experimental design pretest-posttest control group. The collecting data by using mathematics creative thinking ability tests and questionnaires anxiety. The data were analyzed using t-test and Two Way Anova. The results showed that the overall increase in the mathematical creative thinking ability of students taught through problem posing approach better than students taught through conventional learning. The same is also happened for students with medium and low KAM. As for students with high KAM increase creative thinking abilities of students taught through problem posing approach is no better than students taught through conventional learning. The results also show that there is no interaction between the learning and human factors to improving the students' ability to think creatively. In addition, overall there is a decrease both anxiety in students being taught by problem posing as well as conventional, as the decrease of anxiety in intention is the decrease of anxiety with ideal criteria. The decrease anxiety in students taught with problem posing better than conventional students. It also happens to students with high and medium.
