Abstract

Agricultural activities always produce solid waste which originated from residues of livestock and crop. Chicken feathers and banana trunk are waste that have potential to be utilized as compost material. It is due to chicken feathers contains high protein so that it can be used as a source of nitrogen. Meanwhile, banana trunk contains high potassium. Decomposition of compost material needs a lot of time. However, composting can be conducted faster by using microorganisms. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of banana trunk and the effectivity of local microorganism in the decomposition of compost material. This study uses randomized block design factorial with six treatments. First factor is banana trunk (0.5 and 1 kg). The second factor is activator types (EM4, MOL tapai and MOL papaya).The variables were temperature, water content, color, pH, N-total, C-organic, ratio C/N, phospor, and potassium. The result showed that banana trunk was statistically significant to water content, ratio C/N and potassium. Furthermore, the activators did not affect physical and chemical properties of compost.

Abstract

Kabupaten Bangka, Provinsi Bangka Belitung memiliki potensi di sektor hortikultura yang cukup besar, salah satu diantaranya adalah Desa Air Duren. Desa Air Duren terkenal sebagai daerah pemasok nenas terbesar di Kabupaten Bangka. Selain nenas, desa ini juga menghasilkan komoditi sayuran dan lada. Beberapa permasalahan yang dihadapi masyarakat di desa ini adalah adalah biaya produksi untuk pengadaan pupuk masih tinggi, limbah kulit nenas yang belum  termanfaatkan,  minimnya pemanfaatan pekarangan untuk menanam sayuran, kurangnya promosi dari produk yang dihasilkan dan masih rendahnya pengetahuan tentang penanganan penyakit lada. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut dilaksanakanlah pengabdian masyarakat dalam bentuk Kuliah Kerja Nyata-Tematik. Program yang dilaksanakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah pemanfaatan kulit nenas sebagai pupuk organik, pemanfaatan lahan untuk budidaya tanaman secara vertikultur,  pelatihan  pembuatan  blog sebagai  sarana  promosi  produk  pertanian dan pelatihan singkat cara aplikasi Trichoderma  untuk  mengatasi  penyakit kuning tanaman lada. Secara keseluruhan kegiatan   pengabdian   terlaksana   dengan baik, namun terdapat beberapa kendala seperti susahnya jaringan internet sehingga menyulitkan pengecekkan web/ blog yang telah dibuat, dan kebiasaan memelihara hewan   ternak   yang   tidak   dikandangkan menyebabkan kerusakan tanaman sayuran yang ditanaman di pekarangan rumah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the utilization of organic waste of green mustard and crab waste as materials for producing liquid organic compost. This study was conducted in experiment station and laboratorium of Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Fisheries and Biology, University of Bangka Belitung in February 2014. The design of experiment used randomized block design with formulation ratio as treatment. The treatments consist of F1 (100% green mustard organic waste), F2 (75% green mustard organic waste + 25% crab waste), F3 (50% green mustard organic waste + 50% crab waste) and F4 (25% green mustard organic waste + 75% crab waste). The results showed that green mustard organic waste and crab waste could produce quality of liquid organic compost in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 19-7030-2004). All formulations between green mustard organic waste and crab waste, including F3 (50% green mustard organic waste + 50% crab waste) produced liquid organic waste in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 19- 7030 2004).

Abstract

R. cinerea leaf is one of leaves with anti-fungi compound that is able to inhibit the growth of C. capsici. This research is aimed to know the impact and the effectiveness as anti-fungi of R. cinerea leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of C. capsici on the chili seeds. This research was conducted at Biology Laboratory, Experimentation and Research Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Fishery and Biology Bangka Belitung University. The experimentation was carried on Januari 2014 to April 2014. The experiment was conducted in two stages, using randomized completely design with 6 level of treatment (research I), and 4 level of treatment (research II), and 3 replication. Observation data were analysed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the level of significance 95%. If the result showed significantly effect, it continued to be tested with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) (research I), and the Least Significance Difference (LSD) (research II). The result showed that the concentration of R. cinerea extract has significantly impact in inhibiting the growth of C. capsici on the chili seeds. The most effective concentration was found on the level of concentration 35% (90,9%) with the least percentage of affected seeds.

Abstract

The research aimed to find the appropriate plant spacing and weeding period to onion growth and production in ultisol land. Furthermore, the objective of the research is to identify interaction between plant spacing and weeding period and its effect to onion growth and production. The experiment conducted in May 2014 – July 2014 in Experimental Field, Faculty of Agriculture, Fisheries and Biology, Bangka Belitung University. It used Factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors and three repeated. First factor is plant spacing, consist of J1 (10 x 15 cm) and J2 (20 x 15 cm). Second factor is weeding period, consist of P0 (without weeding), P1 (weeding in 7 day after palnting), P2 (weeding in 14 day after palnting), P3 (weeding in 21 day after palnting), P4 (weeding in 28 day after palnting), P5 (weeding to harvest time). The result showed plant spacing 20 x 15 cm and weeding period until harvest time give the great result to onion growth and production. Furthermore, it showed that no interaction between plant spacing and weeding period.

Abstract

The quality of Muntok white pepper can be improved through a good immersion process, with regard to several activities such as immersion time delaying and thresing. This research was conducted at experimental farm of Bangka Belitung University and quality testing in UPTD, Certification and Quality Control, Laboratorium, Departement of Industry and Commerce Bangka Belitung islands. This study used factorial completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor (A) was consisted of 4 levels of immersion time delaying: (A0) without delaying, (A1) 2 days, (A2) 4 days and (A3) 8 days. The second factor (B) was threshing, consist: (B1) without threshing, (B2) threshing. The results showed that immersion time delaying could incerase the blackish seeds levels, foreign matter levels, and mold contamination levels. Two days and four days immersion time delaying were the optimum limit to maintain a better quality of pepper in term of blackish seed levels, foreign matter levels, volatile oil levels, piperine levels, water content and light seed content. The interaction effect of threshing and immersion time delaying hads no effect on the blackish seeds levels, foreign matter levels, mold contamination levels and essential oils levels. Abstract

Jurnal Lahan Suboptimal: Journal of Suboptimal Lands 9(1): 31-40. Pepper cultivation in tin mining sand tailings requires the amelioration of organic matter to improve soil characteristics. The paper investigates the effect of chicken manure dosage on the growth of three pepper cultivars in sand tailing medium. This study was conducted on April-August 2016 at Experiment Station of Universitas Bangka Belitung, Balunijuk Village, Bangka Island. This study was arranged in a completely randomized design with two factors and three replications. The first factor was the dosage of chicken manure (5 kg; 6 kg; 7 kg/plant). The second factor was pepper cultivars (Lampung Daun Lebar; Lampung Daun Kecil; Merapin). The. result of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment of chicken manure dosage significantly affected only on total leaf area. The treatment of pepper cultivars significantly affected the total of chlorophyll, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight. There was no interaction between chicken manure dosage and pepper cultivar. Pepper cv. Lampung Daun Lebar tends to grow better than the other cultivars in the sand tailing medium.

Abstract

Halal Lifestyle merupakan gaya hidup yang sesuai dengan tuntunan ajaran Agama Islam. Sekarang ini gaya hidup halal telah menjadi trend baru bagi masyarakat baik di Indonesia dan masyarakat internasional. Kampus UBB sebagai wahana meningkatkan kecerdasan intelektual, emosional dan mental mahasiswanya, rasanya tepat jika gaya hidup halal menjadi gaya hidup yang dijalankan oleh seluruh civitas akademika. Metode kegiatan ini dengan presentasi dari narasumber LPPOM MUI dan diskusi interaktif. Hasil kegiatan ini, mahasiswa memahami konsep hidup halal sebagai gaya hidup dan memahami proses terbitnya sertifikat jaminan halal. Disamping itu terbentuknya Ikatan Mahasiswa Peduli Halal (IMAPELA). Tindak lanjut, pelatihan TOT bagi mahasiswa agar mampu melaksanakan Halal goes to campus dan menginisiasikan unit kegiatan mahasiswa (UKM) halal center di kampus.

Abstract

Penyakit antraknosa merupakan salah satu masalah penting dalam budidaya pepaya, yang disebabkan oleh C.gloesporioides. Salah satu cara penanggulangannya menggunakan fungisida nabati. Bahan alami yang mempunyai khasiat sebagai fungisida nabati adalah mengkudu, kemangi dan jambu biji. Penelitian dilakukan dilaboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Pertanian, Perikanan, dan Biologi Universitas Bangka Belitung pada bulan Januari sampai April 2016. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial (RALF), faktor pertama ekstrak (E) yaitu ekstrak daun mengkudu (E1), kemangi (E2) dan jambu biji (E3), faktor kedua yaitu konsentrasi yaitu 0% (K0), 10% (K1), 20% (K2), 30% (K3), 40% (K4), 50% (K5) dan 60% (K6). Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis varian pada α 5% dengan menggunakan program SAS (Statistical Analitic System), jika berpengaruh nyata dilakukan uji lanjut DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak daun jambu biji konsentrasi 30% paling baik menghambat pertumbuhan C.gloesporioides pada buah pepaya.

Abstract

Perendaman lada putih dengan penambahan daun karamunting (Melastoma malabathricum) merupakan salah satu upaya penanganan pascapanen lada. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mempercepat proses perendaman dengan penambahan daun karamunting yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas lada putih. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Balunijuk, Kabupaten Bangka Induk, pengujian kualitas di Balai UPTD Sertifikasi dan Pengendalian Mutu, Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Kepulauan Bangka Belitung dan Lingkungan Hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap Faktorial (RALF) dengan 2 faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama (P) 4 taraf lama perendaman: (P0) kontrol 14 hari, (P1) 9 hari, (P2) 7 hari, (P3) 5 hari. Faktor kedua (K) penambahan dosis daun karamunting: (K0) kontrol tanpa pemberian dosis, (K1) 100 g, (K2) 150 g dan (K) 200 g. Setiap unit percobaan terdiri 2 kg buah lada. Uji lanjut menggunakan DMRT dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lama perendaman berpengaruh terhadap peubah kadar benda asing, kadar biji kehitam-hitaman, dan kadar minyak atsiri. Perendaman selama 5 hari menghasilkan nilai minyak atsiri lebih tingggi yaitu 2,44%. Tidak ada interaksi antara lama perendaman dengan penambahan daun karamunting terhadap kualitas lada putih.
