Abstract

This research aims at analyzing the representation translation of Junior High School students in solving mathematical questions related to algebra. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. The focus of representation translation used in this research was the external representation which was a verbal translation into diagram, verbal into symbolic, symbolic into diagram, diagram into symbolic, and diagram into verbal. Based on the analysis of research findings, it shows that representation translation of students from verbal, symbolic, and diagram into verbal and diagram was not really mastered by the students. Meanwhile, the representation translation into symbolic was frequently used by the students although they were expected to do other translation rather than symbolic.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the process of thinking interaction of students in solving the open-ended problem. The thinking interaction of students' in this study is defined as an activity of exchanging thoughts between students one with other students through communication to produce the suitability of the thinking process between them through the resolution of open-ended problems. This study was conducted on a group of junior high school students with heterogeneous capabilities, consisting of 5 students, and have taken the material to build space. The data of thought interaction activity is obtained from discussion result in solving open-ended problem analyzed by information processing theory. Students' thinking interaction activities begin from one subject person who gives statement and understanding about the problem provided. Activity mutual ideas, complement or give feedback to other subject's comments, ask questions that have not been understood, or give an explanation in deciding the answer to be agreed. Subsequent activities decide the answer orally to be written by each subject. All subjects poured the agreed result on the answer sheet, but there were still doubts from the two subjects on the answer, so the subject looked back at the answers from other subjects. Some subjects continue to write answers and in the end, each subject has a form of answer in accordance with their respective understanding.

Abstract

Imitating performance is not a mediocre element, yet it is a unique ability possessed by humans. Researche concerning on imitating performance has been widely conducted in early childhood education and in adults educations. However, imitating performance studies related to elementary school context is rarely explored. This study was intended to figure out the imitating performance of 5th grade student. This study was analyzed qualitatively where the researcher involved in all stage of the research. The results of the research indicated that there were few imitating performance indicators that were not fullfiled. The students were not able to apply the examples in the new context, in other words the students had failed in applying the examples. Consequently, they faced difficulties in communicating the solutions of mathematical problems.  Instead of helping the students, the key words provide by a teachers make the students confuse in resolving different problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the initial conception of prospective teachers about creative thinking in mathematics. This research used a qualitative research method. The Research was conducted at private universities in Semarang, held in the second semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The subjects were six students of the seventh semester. This research used two instruments; test to explore the concept of creative thinking and interview. This study provides findings that there are similarities in the concept of prospective teachers in mathematical creative thinking. The prospective teacher's conception of the creative thinking of mathematics leads to the emergence of new concepts or ideas in completing mathematical problems based on experience. The appearance of the new idea in question is to solve a different problem from the existing procedure and solve the problem with a different perspective that is still logical. The prospective teacher's said that it was necessary for prospective teachers to understand the concept of creative thinking in mathematics to solve mathematical problems from various perspectives based on his learning experience.

Abstract

this research focus of describing the skill of metacognitive experience student of mathematic learning in elementary school of kotalama 1 malang. Description the skill of metacognitive experience about character for metacognitive feelings dan metacognitive judgment student. Research of procedur used is with do observation, documentation, then interview. Research for subject  what index finger that is student grade IV B as many as 5 people with character is different. Research of result acquisition that is metacognitive feelings student still not yet appear, metacognitive judgment student no happen because there is connect between metacognitive feelings with judgment. Beside it?s, feelings for student can acquisition because there is support principle of learn from around area. Method of teach by teacher so influence character for metacognitive feelings and metacognitive judgment student.

Abstract

The research was conducted in SDN Sumberejo 03 Malang wich has purpose to understanding concept fraction the IV grade students. That was because in SDN Sumberejo 03, the understanding concepts mathematis were low, that was because the teacher still use conventional methods to teach their students. This research was classroom action research.  Date analysis technique used was descriptive qualitative analysis, with the subject 21 students. This research used some data collection methods such as observation, documentation and test. This research was done on two cycles. There were 3 sessions (meetings) on the first cycle, and the second cycle there were 2 sessions. The result of this research shows that there was an improvement of the understanding concepts mathematis the IV grade students SDN Sumberejo 03. This is can shown the learning outcoming on the cycle 1 was avarage 82,9, and the improvement on the cycle 2 was avarage 88,4. On completenes class the cycle 1 the students achievement percentage was 76,2%, on the cycle 2 was 90,5%,Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SDN Sumberejo 03 dengan tujuan untuk memahamkan konsep pecahan siswa kelas  IV. Hal ini dikarenakan di pemahaman konsep   siswa masih rendah, salah satunya diakibatkan karena guru masih menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. dengan subjek penelitian terdiri dari 21 siswa. Pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Pelaksanaan penelitian dengan ini sebanyak dua siklus. Siklus 1 terdiri atas tiga kali pertemuan dan siklus 2 terdiri atas 2 kali pertemuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dapat memahamkan konsep siswa. Hal ini dapat ditunjukkan pada hasil belajar siswa pada tes siklus 1 sudah mencapai rata-rata  82,9 dan mengalami peningkatan pada siklus 2 yaitu 88,4.  Pada ketuntasan secara klasikal mencapaipada siklus I mencapai 76,2  dan siklus II mencapai 90,5%

Abstract

Origami is an art of folding that originated in Japan. Origami is not only fun, but to accommodate the diversity of learning styles helps children understand math and this is an innovative method for the development of education, culture, and social skills. Origami also encourages interaction and train students in the group student collaboration. The use of origami media can also help the learning process of students in mathematics due to make the students involved in the learning process. Origami to create a form. Forms related to spatial intelligence, spatial intelligence thinking skills while using the pictures and imagine the mind in the form of two three-dimensional.Origami adalah sebuah seni lipat yang berasal dari Jepang. Origami bukan hanya menyenangkan, tetapi menampung keanekaragaman gaya pembelajaran yang membantu anak-anak memahami matematika dan ini adalah metode inovatif untuk perkembangan pendidikan, budaya,dan kemampuan sosial. Origami juga mendorong interaksi siswa dalam kelompok dan melatih kerjasama siswa. Penggunaan media origami juga dapat membantu proses belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika dikarenakan membuat siswa terlibat langsung dalam proses pembelajaran. Origami untuk membuat suatu bentuk. Bentuk berhubungan dengan kecerdasan spasial, sedangkan kecerdasan spasial kemampuan berpikir menggunakan gambar dan membayangkan dalam pikiran dalam bentuk dua tiga dimensi.

Abstract

Skafolding metakognitif dengan menanyakan-diri mempromosikan kemandirian belajar atau memecahkan masalah matematika siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan, bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran berbasis skafolding metakognitif (PBSM) yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, efektif, dan efisien. Tahapan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tahapan pengembangan model masalah umum bidang pendidikan dari Plomp (2007), yaitu: (1) investigasi awal; (2) perancangan model; (3) realisasi dan konstruksi; serta (3) tes dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model PBSM berdasar penilaian ahli memenuhi kritera valid dan dari implementasi menunjukkan telah memenuhi kriteria praktis, efektif dan efisien

Abstract

Hasil observasi dan uji pendahuluan pada beberapa SMP di kota Malang menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan masalah aljabar. Hal tersebut karena siswa masih kesulitan dalam membuat koneksi matematika dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, koneksi konsep aljabar dengan konsep lain dimatematika, serta koneksi antar konsep aljabar. Respon yang ditunjukkan beberapa siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah aljabar pada uji pendahuluan hanya sampai pada level multistructural pada taksonomi SOLO. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi respon yang diberikan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah adalah gaya kognitif. Gaya kognitif berdasarkan penggunaan waktu dan jumlah kesalahan yang dibuat menurut Kagan dan Kogan adalah gaya kognitif reflektif dan impulsif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan proses koneksi matematis siswa bergaya kognitif reflektif dalam menyelesaikan masalah aljabar berdasarkan taksonomi SOLO. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan instrumen tes gaya kognitif, tes koneksi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa bergaya kognitif reflektif mampu menggunakan semua informasi yang diketahui kemudian menghubungkan semua informasi tersebut sehingga dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan yang diberikan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka proses koneksi matematis siswa bergaya kognitif reflektif dalam menyelesaikan masalah aljabar mencapai level relational hingga level extended abstract pada taksonomi SOLO.

Abstract

Learning mathematics in grade 1 using pieces of instructional media will generate motivation, stimulating learning activities, abstract concept and bring the psychological effects of a child. This study aims to generate media box material to know numbers and operations are valid, practical, effective and attractive. The model of development used modification 4D model developed by Thiagarajan. Validation results declared invalid by subject matter experts and very valid by media experts. Practicality and attractiveness of the product reaches 94 % categorized as very practical and very attractive. While the effectiveness of a product is marked with the positive response of students who achieve mastery of at least about 82 %
