Abstract

Hoof trimming aims to restore normal hoof position, cleaning up dirts at slit hoof, avoiding lameness, facilitate early detection of laminitis and infection. This final report is purpose to explain the hoof treatment and trimming in dairy cows at Koperasi Peternakan Sapi Bandung Utara (KPSBU) Lembang West Java. Primary data obtained discuss with interviewees and join activities of hoof trimming and treatment such as preparing equipment, handling dairy cows, and hoof trimming implementation. Thus secondary data supported by study literature. Hoof trimming in dairy cows at KPSBU Lembang is carried out every 4-6 months. First, farmer should report hoof trimming implantation to officer of health. Officer prepared hoof trimming equipments. Dairy cows were handled before hoof trimming began. Hoof trimming done in a standing position cows starting from the axial and abaxial wall then continued at the sole. Hoof trimming implementation for avoiding hoof infection which disserves dairy cow production.

Abstract

Prolaps organ reproduksi vagina pada sapi perah jarang terjadi dan belum banyak dilaporkan. Prolaps vagina harus ditangani dengan segera untuk mencegah terjadinya infeksi sekunder yang mengganggu siklus reproduksi. Tulisan ini melaporkan kasus prolaps vagina yang ditemukan di peternakan rakyat, anggota Koperasi Peternak Sapi Bandung Utara (KPSBU), Kecamatan Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat. Seekor sapi betina Friesien Holstein (FH) pada laktasi kedua seminggu pascamelahirkan dan mengalami protrusi mukosa vagina yang tampak menggantung di vulva. Kasus ini ditangani dengan membersihkan mukosa vagina menggunakan air bersih dari keran dan dialirkan bersamaan dengan proses memasukkan mukosa vagina kembali ke posisi normal secara lege artis. Jahitan tipe simple interrupted di labia vulva dilakukan menggunakan tali rafia untuk mencegah prolaps terjadi kembali. Jahitan kemudian dilepas setelah seminggu. Sapi terjadi persembuhan dan tidak mengalami prolaps yang berulang.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to find out the effectiveness of a metacognitive reading strategy to teach descriptive reading text and to find out how significant metacognitive reading strategy is for teaching descriptive reading text at tenth-grade students of SMA Islamiyah Pontianak in the Academic Year 2014/2015. In this study, the researcher used pre-experimental research design. The sample of this study was tenth-grade students of SMA Islamiyah Pontianak in the Academic Year 2014/2015. The researcher used deciding to sample as sampling technique. The researcher took one class (X IPS 2) which consisted of 24 students. The technique of collecting data was measurement technique. The tool of collecting data was written test in multiple-choice form. Based on the result of this study, the researcher concluded that using metacognitive reading strategy to teach descriptive reading text at tenth-grade students of SMA Islamiyah Pontianak in the Academic Year 2014/2015 was the to be applied for teaching and learning process descriptive reading text. Nevertheless, to achieve the teaching and learning goal by using metacognitive reading strategy to teach the descriptive reading text. The teacher should explain metacognitive reading strategy clearly, giving example, and practice. To make students understand the metacognitive reading strategy.
