Indonesia plays a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions because it has a large forest capable of absorbing and storing carbon in considerable forest biomass. This study aims to estimate the carbon potentials found in the Alahan Panjang Nature Reserve of Nagari Koto Tinggi West Sumatera Province. The study was conducted on a plot of 20 m x 100 m as much as seven plot measurements with a sampling intensity of 0.056% of the total area of forest area of 2,500 ha. In each plot the measurement was taken diameter data ≥ 5 cm <30 cm and the diameter of trees ≥ 30 cm and the uptake of plants on plot size 1 m x 1 m. And rough litter and fine litter taking with a plot size of 0.5 m x 0.5 m. Subsequently carbon potentials were assigned to the Allometric equation: B = 0.118 x D 2.53. After calculating the carbon with the formula C = 50% of the total biomass. The absorbed CO2 is used CO2 = C x 3.67. From the research result, the amount of vegetation with diameter ≥ 30 cm is 98/1,4 ha = 70 vegetation/ha, with average diameter 45,67 cm. Vegetation with diameter ≥ 5 cm <30 cm totaled 163 vegetation/0,14 ha = 1,164/ha. Total carbon stock from tree stand component of 182 ton/ha, lower plant of 2,6 ton/ha, rough litter of 10,139 ton/ha, fine litter of 34,8 ton/ha. So total carbon in Alahan Panjang Block of Manggani Nature Reserve is 114,769 ton/ha. The amount of CO2 absorbed is 3 x 114,769 ton/ha = 421,204 ton/ha.
