Abstract

Feed laboratory is a facility that guarantees feed quality in the feedlot industry. But the existence of this laboratory has not been fully considered both in terms of facilities and layout that ease the movement of workers. This research aims to analyze machine and raw material properties in the feed laboratory, to find total closeness rating between facilities according the need and  designing the layout of facilities in the laboratory that can streamline the material flow. The problem is how to design facility layout in feed laboratory which has different tool and machine characteristics in limited space, how to plan material flow that can minimize work flow. The method used is computerized relationship layout planning (CORELAP). The result obtained is the design of the laboratory layout by comparing the optimum distance on the inter-work track. The calculation value from allocation relationship diagram showed the biggest total closseness rating is the testing room. From the calculation of the distance difference layout design, it is known that the second alternative provides a better solution with the largest distance difference of 41.52 for space with condition should be close and the distance difference of -31.21 for space with the condition should not be close. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis kerapatan kelurusan di daerah penelitian yaitu di lapangan panasbumi Suoh-Sekincau yang terletak pada Kabupaten Lampung Barat Provinsi Lampung. Kerapatan kelurusan diproses dengan menggunakan citra satelit berupa digital elevation map (DEM) yang diunduh pada laman Badan Informasi Geospasial  (BIG). Citra tersebut diolah dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak Geomatica dan Arcgis dan menghasilkan peta kerapatan kelurusan dengan berbagai kelompok nilai dari tinggi hingga rendah. Geologi daerah penelitian didominasi oleh batuan gunungapi (volkanik) dengan kelurusan dominan berarah baratlaut-tenggara dan merupakan bagian dari Sesar Besar Sumatera pada segmen Semangko. Morfologi daerah penelitian terdiri dari punggungan dan beberapa puncak gunung dengan adanya cekungan pull-apart pada Danau Suoh. Dari peta kerapatan kelurusan yang dihasilkan, pada sekitar Gunung Sekincau memiliki nilai yang tinggi dan diinterpretasikan bahwa daerah tersebut memiliki tingkat permeabilitas yang baik. Selain itu daerah di sekitar Danau Suoh juga memiliki nilai kerapatan yang tinggi. Daerah dengan densitas tinggi ini merupakan daerah yang baik sebagai daerah resapan panasbumi. Abstract

In this paper, design of solar energy harvesting system which integrated in building glass window was proposed. The location as the design reference is Bandar Lampung Building. Bandar Lampung Building uses 90% of the glass on the outside walls building with facing the sunrise and sunset. The design solar energy harvesting system was consisted of solar glass and electronic power system. Solar glass using several mini PV affixed on the glass with space in between, so partially of sunlight pass into the room. The solar energy harvesting system used for DC house network and not connected to the grid system. The solar energy harvesting is also equipped with power electronic system such as MPPT, lead acid battery, and DC-DC converter. The design of solar energy harvesting system is using calculative method based on secondary data several references for this case. Area of the solar glass reaches 16.32 m2 for 1 office room scale. The ratio between PV and room glass about 0.35. The power average of the solar glass on the glass building with facing to the sunrise is about 74.35 W, and then the average power of the solar glass with facing to the sunlight about 161.32W.

Abstract

Electrospray as an alternative method to fabricate thin film is studied. High voltage is required by the electrospray system. The requirement of high voltage is different for various liquid depending on the surface tension property. Ethanol was used to resemble the solvent used in thin film deposition. From the experimental work, jetting performance did not occur despite of the high applied voltage which is around 1 KV. In this work, numerical calculation is carried out to find the reason behind of unsuccessful jetting at 1 KV applied voltage. The percentage of Rayleigh limit is around 0.4. Electrospray performance at walking distance 5 mm using ethanol is predicted to be stable when the applied high voltage is approximately 1.1 KV. The numerical investigation indicates that the jetting performance will occur if the applied voltage is more than 1.1 KV.

Abstract

Indonesia's electricity needs are increasing in line with increasing population and living standards. Renewable energy is an alternative in avoiding dependence on conventional PLN electricity. This research is a further study of solar energy as an alternative energy to meet the electricity needs of Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA) which always increases every year with the increasing number of students and the infrastructure of lecture infrastructure. Research on the potential of solar energy at the ITERA has been carried out before using conventional methods. This study further examines the potential of solar energy by considering various factors. This study uses solar cells with 100 WP specifications and uses Arduino UNO instrumentation to facilitate the measurement of current and voltage automatically which can be stored directly in memory cards. Based on the measurement results obtained a maximum power value of 66 watts that occurs at 11:00 and 12:00 WIB.   Keywords: Solar cell, solar energy

Abstract

Creating optical illusions or invisible objects by using cloaking devices is still being a concern for many researchers in the world. The cloaking devices are working in visible spectrum regime, large dimention, and replicable. Addition with the full-field of light, no new materials, simple infrastructure, and scale easily may be considered an ?ideal? cloaking device. Based on four lenses cloaking system by Choi?s work shows an idea for solution of blindspot large vehicle?s problem. The set up for this optical system is regular covex lenses non-aberation based on educational laboratory framework. The experimental confirmation that cloaking area with 4f convex lenses is limited to certain areas only, not 100 % of the object to be observed can disappear from the view. Vibration disturbance generated by rotor module (wheels disturbance analogy on vehicles) applied on the system demonstrate that below on 2000 rotation per minutes (rpm) equal 33.34 hertz, optical illusion is still consistent. The results support the information to create optical cloaking prototype for optimizing large vehicle driver?s visibility as alternative solution blindspot?s problem.

Abstract

The optimization of extraction procces for Sirih Hijau leaves (Piper betle L.) have been attempted. The aim of the research was to knowing the influence and the ratio of total yield on two different methods, that was using maceration and reflux method and followed by microbial antibacterial by microdilution test to show the qualitative value of MIC percentage of Sirih Hijau leaves extract against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The analysis was conducted descriptively for subsequent use as a basis to determined MIC percentage quantitatively. The result of extraction with two methods showed that the highest yield was yielded in reflux process with 18.5% rendement value with the weight ratio of 1: 5 to the maceration process. Phytochemical screening shows the ethanol extract of Sirih Hijau leaves contains flavonoid, saponins, and tannins compounds that have activated as antibacterial. The results of microbial antibacterial testing showed MIC percentage in Staphylococcus aureus at 5% and Eschericia coli at 3%. The test results indicate that Sirih HIjau leaves (Piper betle L.) have potential as an antibacterial candidate.   Keyword : Sirih Hijau, reflux, maceration, antibacterial, microdilution

Abstract

Rangka Terbreis Eksentris (RTE) merupakan sistem bangunan tahan gempa yang mempunyai keunggulan dari segi kekuatan dan kekakuan serta mempunyai daktilitas dan kemampuan energi disipasi yang baik dalam kondisi inelastis. Link adalah elemen penting yang berfungsi untuk mendisipasikan energi gempa melalui perilaku inelastis struktur. Kinerja link geser berupa kekuatan, kekakuan, daktilitas dan disipasi energi tergantung pada profil penampang yang digunakan pada link. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku struktur RTE dengan link menggunakan sambungan baut yang menggunakan variasi mutu baja serta pelebaran ujung pelat sayap (Side Extended Plate/SEP) dan tanpa SEP. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan menggunakan software MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN. Sebanyak 8 (delapan) variasi model link dikaji untuk menentukan kinerja struktur yang paling optimum ketika dilakukan pembebanan statik monotonik dan siklik dengan kontrol perpindahan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa variasi mutu baja link pada pelat sayap dan pelat badan dapat meningkatkan kekuatan, kekakuan, dan daktilitas struktur secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan penggunaan SEP.    Kata kunci :      Rangka Terbreis Eksentis (RTE), link geser, link sambungan baut dan las, variasi mutu baja, pelebaran pelat sayap

Abstract

Conventional drug delivery systems have a shorter residence time in the stomach that causes less optimal drug absorption, the presence of food in the stomach also affects the absorption of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract so that it takes a drug that can stay and last longer in the stomach without being affected by the emptying process Stomach. In this study beads preparations are made that can stay and float so that lasts longer in the stomach. Alginate-containing beads are formulated by gelation method in which the alginate solution is dropped into a calcium chloride solution to form beads. The effects of oil type and alginate on morphological forms and buoyancy characteristics have been optimized. Beads containing alginate and paraffin can float on a gastric medium simulation for 240 minutes. The presence of paraffins can maintain the integrity and release of alginate beads during contact with the gastric medium. The SEM results describe the paraffin forming globules on the entire surface of the beads. Beads also show the ability to be able to float depending on the concentration of paraffin used.

Abstract

In the developing country or poor country difficult to access meteorological data such as air temperature, it's caused by the limitation of equipment or funding. Air temperature is one of the meteorological data commonly used to predict evaporation or to understanding climatic condition in a specific location. Nowadays from satellite data can estimate some meteorological data. But the detail of explanations about how to get and how to use satellite data is limited and difficult to adopt for beginners. This paper explains how to get MODIS LST data to estimate air temperature data study case in Gifu City, Japan. The results show data from MODIS LST is higher than data from the local meteorological station for day time and lower for night time, but still can use because the pattern is similar. Mean of maximum air temperature and minimum air temperature can be used as daily average air temperature. MOD11A2 product data was better than MYD11A2 data to predict air temperature. MODIS LST data can be used for untouched areas like desert or forest.
