Abstract

The Simpang Heran dand Sugihan rivers has been planned for outlet factory by the OKI Pulp and Paper. The changing function of these areas give some effects to quality of water and biota around the river. The aims of this research is to study of plankton structure community as biomonitoring instrument. The re-search was conducted during August 2017. The location sampling was determined by purpossive random sampling method in 3 stations. The sampling in the moody area was carried out by Eckman grab. The results showed that 70 genera have been classified into 9 classes. Plankton abundance ranges from 372 - 408 ind/l highest found in the confluence of Sungai Simpang Heran and Sungai Sugihan. The species diversity index ranges from 3 - 3.08 and, the low dominant index is around 0.03.

Abstract

It has been tested the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract and some fractions of leaves marigolds (Cosmos caudatus Kunth.) againts the bacteria Shigella dysentriae ATCC 13313, Shigella flexneri ATCC 12022 dan Shigella boydii ATCC 12985. Extraction is done by maceration method with a yield 3.62% b/b results of the fractionation was then performed using the solvent n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water. Chemical content ob-tained in the test phytochemical that leaves marigolds (Cosmos caudatus Kunth.) Are chemical compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, saponins and steroids. Antibacterial activity assay carried out using agar diffu-sion method with 5 variations of concentration of test substance, wich is 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% with used destilation etanol as negative control and tetracyclin as positive control. The results of inhibition zone di-ameter measurements the ethanol extract and some fractions have a antibacterial activity againts Shigella dy-sentriae ATCC 13313, Shigella flexneri ATCC 12022 and Shigella boydii ATCC 12985 At 30% concentration of test subtance to bacteria Shigella dysentriae ATCC 13313 inhibitory zone diameters on ethanol extract leaves marigolds of 17.0 mm, n-hexane fraction of 13.8 mm, ethyl acetate fraction of 14.3 mm, and water fraction of 10.9 mm. Againts Shigella flexneri ATCC 12022 the diameter of inhibitory zone diameters on ethanol extract leaves marigolds of 18.6 mm, n-hexane fraction of 15.3 mm, ethyl acetate fraction 15.7 mm and water fraction of 13.8 mm. Againts Shigella boydii ATCC 12985 the diameter of inhibitory zone diameters on ethanol extract leaves marigolds of 20.2 mm, n-hexane fraction of 16.1 mm, ethyl acetate fraction of 16.9 mm and water frac-tion of 15.5 mm. So, that has the greatest antibacterial activity shown in the ethanol extract of leaves marigolds to the bacteria Shigella boydii ATCC 12985 at 30 % concentration of the test substance with inhibition zone di-ameter of 20.2 mm.

Abstract

Nebulizer compressor has been realized. It utilizes photodiode, LED, comparator, and relay as a control on/off nebulizer. It stops working if the sensor detect asthma drug liquid running out. Relay will work if it get input voltage 3 V (high) of comparator circuit which is used to control compressor. Reference voltage of comparator is 2.98 V.

Abstract

Determination of Chloramphenicol content in ear drops has been performed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The purpose of this research was to determination and know the sui-tability of Chloramphenicol contents in ear drops by reversed phase reversed phase with ultraviolet detector at a wavelength of 273.4 nm. The C18 column was used as stationary phase, methanol : water (70 : 30) v/v as mobile phase, with flow rate of 1 ml/minute. Determination of calibration curve linearity showed a linear cor-relation between the peak area and chloramphenicol concentration with concentration 5-25 μg/ml (r = 0,998). The equation of regression was y = 39020,92x + 196296, the limit of detection (LOD) value is 1,4920 μg / ml and the value of limit of quantitation (LOQ) is 4,9734 μg / ml. The precision test showed a coefficient of variation was 0.8711%. The result of determination of chloramphenicol content in ear drops were sample A = 1,17 %, sample B = 1,20 % and sample C = 1,19 %. Based on the test, samples of ear drops with contents crite-ria was fulfilled the requirements of Indonesian Pharmacopoeia fifth edition.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang sintesis, uji fisis dan mekanik keramik forsterite dengan metode sol-id state reaction (sintering). Keramik forsterite disintesis dengan menggunakan powder silika dan magnesium oksida sintetik. Selanjutnya silika dan magnesium powder dicampur dan digerus hingga halus. Ke dalam cam-puran tersebut ditambah etanol dan ditirrer dengan magnetik stirrer agar menjadi homogen, dan dikalsinasi pada suhu 110oC hingga membentuk bubuk/serbuk. Selanjutnya serbuk digerus kembali dengan mortar dan pastel untuk menghasilkan serbuk forsterite. Serbuk dicetak menjadi pelet silinder dan kemudian disintering dengan suhu yang berbeda yaitu 850, 950 dan 1050oC. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengukuran/uji porositas, densi-tas dan konduktivitas, hardness/kekerasan dan fracture toughness/keretakan.Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa densitas meningkat dengan seiring dengan kenaikan suhu sintering, sebaliknya porositas dan fracture toughness menurun dengan meningkatnya suhu sintering. Hasil analisis frac-ture toughness dengan SEM menunjukkan bahwa keretakan pada suhu sintering 850oC lebih besar dibanding-kan dengan sampel yang disintering pada suhu 950 dan 1050oC. Dengan kata lain, tingkat keretakan pada sampel yang disintering pada 850oC lebih besar dibandingkan dengan sampel yang disintering pada suhu 950 dan 1050oC. Fenomena ini menunjukkan bahwa butiran-butiran semakin besar disertai jumlah pori yang se-makin sedikit. Kekerasan meningkat seiring dengan kenaikan suhu sintering. Semakin tinggi suhu sintering, semakin tinggi kekerasan yang sesuai dengan meningkatnya densitas, serta diikuti menurunnya porositas. Pen-gukuran konduktivitas menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi suhu sintering, konduktivitas semakin kecil yang se-suai dengan meningkatnya densitas dan menurunnya porositas. Berdasarkan karakteristik perubahan konduk-tivitas, keramik forsterite yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini mendekati sifat isolator sehingga dapat diaplikasi-kan sebagai bahan isolator listrik.

Abstract

A study has been conducted on influences of various chitosan concentrationas coating and storage time to Vitamin C concentration of green grape (Vitis vinifera L.) by dipping method. This study aims to de-termine the difference of chitosan concentration to physical characteristics, weight loss and vitamin C concen-tration of green grape. Chitosan coating was conducted on 50 grams of green grape by dipping method at var-ious concentration of chitosan that is 0%, 0,5%, 1%, 1,5% and 2% (w / v), kept on variation of one, four and seven day storage time. Determination of vitamin C concentration of green grape was done by UV-Vis spec-trophotometer measured at 256 nm wavelength with regression equation y = 0,0344 x + 0,101 and r = 0,998. Based on statistical test showed that chitosan concentration of 1% (w / v) with 4 days storage time is the most optimum because the chitosan layer is able to close all green grape pores, so the process of anaerobic and CO2 respiration can be inhibited by chitosan solution.
