Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of the portfolio in Physics teaching on scientific attitude by controlling prior knowledge. This study was conducted at public senior high schools in Singaraja by using the experimental method with single factor independent group design with the use of covariable. This study involved 152 Class X MIPA students of senior high schools as a sample selected by multistage random sampling technique. Portfolio assessment was made by integrating it with Physics teaching. The implementation of portfolio assessment involved 4 basic elements: the presence of the student’s work folder, clear assessment criteria, self-assessment, and teacher and student conference. The data that were needed in this study were students’ scientific attitude as the independent variable and prior knowledge as covariate variable.

Abstract

This paper compares performance measures in the corporate and strategic entrepreneurial activities of firms. The paper develops the concepts of strategic entrepreneurship and that of corporate entrepreneurship with the aim of identifying the measures suitable for determining their “end-points” and hence, performance, with respect to the firm’s activities. The paper concludes the performance measures for both entrepreneurial processes need to consider and exploit the salient differences in their operations. When this is done, a “balanced” picture of the firm’s strategic as well as corporate entrepreneurial performance that aligns itself with the dynamic environment, operational processes and stakeholders and such that can enhance continuous improvement will be attainable.

Abstract

The application of photovoltaic technology is necessary to reduce the harmful effects of an intense earthquake in the city of Portoviejo. It is based on the information obtained about the occurrence of the earthquake on April 16 and considering data from other events of the same nature occurred in the territory, an assessment of the seismic risk for the city and by characterization of one of the zones is made subject to danger, the introduction of photovoltaic luminaires is proposed in order to provide certain strengths that can facilitate the work of the first urgency in the rescue and urgent repair of breakdowns, as well as the evacuation of the population to safer areas especially at night. An analysis is made of the technological structure of photovoltaic luminaires and the prices they have in the market, both internally and internationally.

Abstract

The extraction and industrialization of the oregano oil in Ecuador can represent an important source of work, from the harvest to the transformation of the raw material into finished product. The oregano is a plant known from many years back and has always been used for medicinal purposes and is currently being used in many fields such as perfumery, gastronomy, toiletries; But its main use is in medicine. The work proposes a methodology that allows extracting the essential oil of the plant for different medical uses such as: anti - inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant and antibiotic, being of social benefit representing an economic impact in its industrialization

Abstract

People are relying upon oil for primary energy and this will continue for a few more decades. Other conventional sources may be more enduring but are not without serious disadvantages. The renewable energy resources are particularly suited for the provision of rural power supplies and a major advantage is that equipment such as flat plate solar driers, wind machines, etc., can be constructed using local resources. Without the advantage results from the feasibility of local maintenance and the general encouragement, such local manufacture gives to the buildup of a small-scale rural-based industry. This communication comprises a comprehensive review of energy sources, the environment, and sustainable development. It includes the renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency systems, energy conservation scenarios, energy savings in greenhouses environment and other mitigation measures necessary to reduce climate change. This study gives some examples of small-scale energy converters, nevertheless, it should be noted that small conventional, i.e., engines are currently the major source of power in rural areas and will continue to be so for a long time to come.

Abstract

Renewable energy is a topic frequently discussed due to the need to change the forms of generation, from the centralized to the distributed form and take advantage of the potentials that are scattered in the territory and use local resources and thereby diversify the schemes of distributed generation that allows the man in his daily work to pass from consumption of energy to generator, in this way the environmental impacts are reduced that today accelerate the change of temperature in the planet, noticing in recent years the oil and its derivatives are responsible for this phenomenon. The objective of the research is to reflect on tidal energy, knowing that the province of Manabí, is the one that has the largest coastal area and where there is a potential that can be studied for future use.

Abstract

Distributed generation and smart grids are the reality of an efficient electricity grid, at work an analysis of the advantages that distinguish both concepts related to the scenario generation, transportation, distribution and supply of energy is provided. Some results achieved in the related study of the solar potential and wind energy, focused on the use of these resources will improve in quality future university exposed electrical service. The main elements that have been considered to be incorporated in the roadmap for the introduction of smart grids in Ecuador expose.

Abstract

First – order orthotropic shear deformation equations for the nonlinearly elastic bending response of rectangular plates are introduced. Their solution using a computer program based on finite differences implementation of the Dynamic Relaxation (DR) method is outlined. The convergence and accuracy of the DR solutions for elastic large deflection response of isotropic, orthotropic, and laminated plates are established by comparison with various exact and approximate solutions. The present Dynamic Relaxation method (DR) coupled with finite differences method shows a fairly good agreement with other analytical and numerical methods used in the verification scheme. It was found that: The convergence and accuracy of the DR solution are dependent on several factors including boundary conditions, mesh size, and type, fictitious densities, damping coefficients, time increment and applied load. Also, the DR large deflection program using uniform finite differences meshes can be employed in the analysis of different thicknesses for isotropic, orthotropic, or laminated plates under uniform loads. All the comparison results for simply supported (SS4) edge conditions showed that deflection is almost dependent on the direction of the applied load or the arrangement of the layers.

Abstract

The aquifer was a rock form wherein the water was collected and as well as able to release water economically. The aquifers near the beach were susceptible to intruded sea water, especially areas that have a lot of groundwater taking, therefore, if building a well, should be chosen aquifer that had not been intruded sea water. It was needed a way thus, the water taken is not salt water or brackish water. This study has a long-term goal of finding a way to choose aquifer by geoelectric method aid. In order to build a drilled well, for getting the right aquifer. The research had been conducted in Candidasa Karangasem Bali with the geoelectric method. The results showed that there were two aquifers types, i.e. free aquifer with resistivity was 33.9 ohm.m and distressed aquifer with a resistivity was 70 ohm.m. Taking into account the two resistivity magnitudes, then, the free aquifer was thought to have been intruded by the sea water, while the distressed aquifer was thought to have not been intruded by sea water.

Abstract

The emergence and development of Microgrids emerge as an alternative to the distributed generation that is becoming more and more effective at an international level. The research aims to perform an analysis on the behavior of a microgrid designed in an urban environment operating connected to the main electrical network or outside it. A technical evaluation of the connected photovoltaic power plant is carried out as a microgrid obtaining as a result the improvement of the profiles of voltage, current and apparent power, at the same time that it favors the reduction of the electric energy consumption of the conventional network, with the potential to decrease The amount of the electric bill, contributing to the reduction of oil consumption and CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.
