Abstract

Ground nut (Arachis hypogaea) is a seasonal crop that have been cultured in many place as for interspace crop or as monoculture crop. Though the demand of ground nut is high, its yield productivity not optimal and still considerate as moderate. Therefore, a new treatment is needed. Boron is one of essensial nutrition for plant that rarely used when planting, although boron have many function including to increase plant productivity. This research is purposed to see about boron influence in the ground nut productivity and fat contain on it. The result of the research showed boron can increase the flowering time of ground nut. The result of ground nut productivity not shown any significant differences, but inclined to had increased productivity up to 20% than control in 5 mg B2O3 dosage and keep decreasing as the boron dosage increased. Boron also have real influence in increasing the ground nut seed quality with the increased of gound nut weight, and the calculation of fat contain in ground nut that also increased as the boron dosage increased.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of fertilizer dose combination of N, P, and K on growth and yield of peanut on Alfisols dryland. The experiment was conducted from April to September 2014 in Sukosari Village, Jumantono, Karanganyar with 3 factor completely randomized design arranged N (Urea) fertilizer dose (50,100,150) kg ha-1, P (SP-36) fertilizer dose (100,200,300) kg ha-1 and K (ZK) fertilizer dose (75,150,225) kg ha-1. Statistical analysis using F test 5% followed by DMRT with 95% confidence level. The parameters observed were wet and dry weight of plant per sample, number of filled pods per sample, weight of pods per sample, and weight of dry seed per sample. Fertilizer dose combination of N, P and K significantly affect on dry weight. Fertilizer dose combination N and P significantly affect on number of filled pods and weight of pods per sample. Combination of P and K fertilizers significantly affect on dry seed weight. N fertilizer dose significantly affect on weight of dry seed per sample. The best fertilizer dose combination is P3K3 treatment (300 kg ha-1 and 225 kg ha-1) that can increased 57 % weight of dry seed if compared with recommendation dose.

Abstract

Erosion is the main factor causing? land degradation in area of planting vegetables dominated by Andisol soil. Andisol soil contains more fraction of dust so it is easily transported by runoff. This study aim to determine the influence of mulching corn stem with a terrace strengthen (Vetiveria zizanioides, Coix? lacryma-jobi? L., Panicum muticum, Annona squamosa) to surface runoff, erosion, growth and result of plant (red lentils, cabbage and white lentils) in Andisol soil. This study uses a randomized complete block design with four (4) treatment and repeated three (3) times as a group so that there are twelve (12) experimental unit. The grouping based on kinds of plant that are cabbage, red lentils and white lentils. The results showed that MS4 treatment (mulch corn stem twelve (12) ton/ha with panicum muticum+ Annona squamosa as terrace strengthen) produces smallest of surface run off, erosion and dry weight of weeds, increased growth and canopy and increased crop yields 40.27% of red lentils, 57.10% of cabbage and 14.54% of white lentils.

Abstract

Soybean is one of the commodity with high market demand. Soybean production process is limited by the lack of land. One of the efforts to improve the usefullness of land and production of soybean is an intercropping method between soybean and corn. Intercropping that over using chemical fertilizers have impact negatively on the land. Therefore, utilization of organic fertilizer to reduce the chemical fertilizer is necessary to prevent the damage of the land. This study aimed to examine the utilization of organic fertilizer to replace a part of chemical fertilizer. This study was conducted at the Center for Dryland Research Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta, Jumantono, Karanganyar started on February until May 2013. The experiment was conducted using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with one factor fertilization consists of 6 levels, one control and two comparators monoculture. The results showed that application of organic fertilizer 800 kg ha-1, Urea 125 kg ha-1, SP-36 83.33 kg ha-1 and KCl 83.33 kg ha-1 with the highest yield for soybean 1.52 tons ha-1 and corn 1.25 tons ha-1 is optimal balance dosage of organic and inorganic fertilizers to soybean-corn intercropping. The treatment did not significantly different with inorganic fertilizer intercropping experiment. The research treatment showed that N, P and K fertilizer can?t be reduce by organic fertilizers.

Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is vegetables with high nutrient content and interest more people, meanwhile producing optimum, yet, therefore, need hydroponic substrate to increase productivity. The orange wood fiber is a waste produced by palm industry manufacturer. The waste of Arenga wood fibers has not used maximum yet, so if it?s piled up will be affects the ecosystem in around. We need to utilize the waste of Arenga wood fiber to be a substrate hydroponic. The aim of this research is to know the maximum of Arenga wood fiber composition in several sizes which is combined with the sands. It?s for increasing the growth and lettuce yield. The method of this research is completely randomized design with two factorials. They are the Arenga wood fiber composition with sand and size of Arenga wood fiber. The main variable of observation is root length, wide of leaves, and fresh weight of lettuce. The result of observation showed that the Arenga wood fiber composition and the sand composition for cultivation lettuce consist of 25% of Arenga wood fiber and 75% (1:3) of various size of sand. The highest root was 12.6 cm and it produced wide of leaves was 1602.3 cm2 and increased the fresh plants until 53.7 g.

Abstract

Corn is an important food crop in the world. Downy mildew as a corn main disease causes a decrease of crop yields. Downy mildew can be prevented by seed treatment. The study aims to determine the effect of washing and adding fungicides on seeds to downy mildew attack, growth, and hybrid corn yields. The research conducted in Wedomartani Experimental Field, Ngemplak, Sleman with experiment in June ? October 2018. Field experiment with Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was set up, using single factor, which is seeds of P27 variety washed and added fungicides. There are 10 treatments: control, washed seeds, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 3g/kg + dimetomorph 2g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 3g/kg + dimetomorph 3g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 3g/kg + dimetomorph 4g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 3g/kg + dimetomorph 5g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 5g/kg + dimetomorph 2g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 5g/kg + dimetomorph 3g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 5g/kg + dimetomorph 4g/kg, washed seeds + fungicide metalaxyl 5g/kg + dimetomorph 5g/kg. The results showed that control effective to prevent downy mildew attack, increasing growth and hybrid corn yields. Washed seeds cause high level of downy mildew attack, slow growth, and low crop yields. Seed treatments with fungicides is not effective, because give same affect with control.

Abstract

Myzus persicae is the main pest in chili which causes decreasing production and qualities of chili. The was aimed to know the effect of Pomelo and Orange?s peel extract to controlling green peach aphids population. The research was conducted in screen house located in Colomadu, Karanganyar regency from October 2017- January 2018. This research used Randomized Complete Design with 2 factors i.e variety of orange?s peel extract and levels of concentration. The various Citrus?s peel extract consisted of Pomelo?s peel extract and Orange?s peel extract. Levels of concentration from each extracts i.e 1%, 2%, 4%, 8%, and 16%. Each treatment replicated 5 times. The result showed that Citrus peel extracts had effect on the green peach aphid population and had no effect on the growth of chili. The LC50 value of Pomelo and Orange?s peel extracts were 4,77% and 5,56%. Pomelo and orange peel extract treatment on differrent concentration was not give effect on the percentage of the attack intensity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the morphological characteristics and variability of planting sugar apple Gedangsari, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. Identify the morphological characteristics conducted on 36 plant samples (36 accessions) based method on stratified sampling and purposive sampling. The data were analyzed descriptively and clustering analysis. The results of the research showed that sugar-apple had pyramida canopy shape, plant height of 264?525 cm, oblongus leaves type, integer leaves margins, acuminatus leaves tip form, base acutus leaves, petiole cylindrical shape, dark green petiole, dark green color of the upper surface leaves, faded green color of the lower surface, leaves length 16.06?8.23 cm, leaves width 3,73?6,9 cm, leaves area 24,28?85,71 cm2, round shaped of rod, patens branching pattern, stem circumference 17,5?38 cm, axillary flos of flower layout, having 3 petals, whitish green of flower color, is cordate and round shape of fruit, fruit weight of 83,03?180,3 g, fruit circumference 22,4?19,36 cm, flesh thick 1,73?3,66 mm, whitish green and green of fruit color, the total amount of fruit scales 70?104,66, and the value of PTT between 18-29 obrix, blunt shape of fruit scales, ellipsoid shape of seeds, number seeds 7?70,66 and total seed weight 2,3?19,86g. There were variability include leaves length, leaves width, leaves area, stem girth, fruit weight, fruit girth, fruit flesh thickness, number of fruit scales, PTT values and fruit shape and the fruit skin?s color. The result of clustering analysis showed that similarity coefficient between the accessions was 66%.

Abstract

Kailan is a horticultural commodity that interest but productivity of kailan reduce caused by the cultivation of agricultural land which is getting slightly. Need effort to increase productivity of kailan by applying hydroponic substrate. This study uses merapi sand and arenga wood fiber as a hydroponic substrate medium. Merapi sand is easily porous. Arenga wood fiber is waste produced by palm industry which not used maximum. This study purpose to assess whether the treatment of a mixture of merapi sand and arenga wood fiber with hydroponic substrate systems affect kailan?s growth and product. The method used completely randomized design with one factor consists of 1 control and 13 treatments. The results showed that mixture of merapi sand and arenga wood fiber give different effect on variable. Mixture of 25% arenga wood fiber and 75% Merapi sand (1: 3) have inclined more great value in the roots fresh weight and plant fresh weight. Merapi sand 100% give inclined more great value in the variable plant height and amount of leaves.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the effect of volcanic sand, native sea sand and sea sand washing substrate on the growth and yield of tomatoes, measuring the effect of arengan wood fiber substrate on growth and yield of tomatoes, measuring the effect of the combination of volcanic sand, native sea sand and sea sand washing with arenga wood fiber substrate compared to the growth and yield of tomato. The research was conducted from August to December 2014 in the screen house Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University. This study uses a completely randomized design with 1 factors with 14 treatment. The analysis of the data was tested using the F test level of 5%. After that, if the result F tests 5% significant, the analysis continued with DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) level of 5%. The results showed treatment volcanic sand, native sea sand and sea sand washing substrate produce growth and good results in tomatoes when watering is often done so that the plants do not wilt. Arenga wood fiber substrate treatment resulted in poor growth of the roots and results of tomatoes. Treatment volcanic sand, native sea sand sea sand washing genuine with arenga wood fiber (1: 1) to produce growth and good results on tomato plants.
