Abstract

The goal is this research to see the symbols of figurative language and to analyze the meaning and significance of symbols figurative language in the wedding ceremony manjapuik marapulai in Paninjauan village, Tanah Datar district, West Sumatera. The research employs qualitative study using content analysis (symbolic) and analysis of Roland Barthes semiology be the significance of the two stages (two orders of signification) denotation and connotation, as well as mythical as the development of connotation. The study found that symbols contained in panitahan at a ceremony manjapuik marapulai conform with values and philosophy of Minang adopted by local community. Symbols are included in the 15 sentences that comes from nature, conform with the philosophy of alam takambang manjadi guru as the sentence Tantangan kato ayam lai barinduak, which is a lesson from nature that chickens need of parent in guiding his life as well as humans who need parents in shows about customs. One sentence that comes to the religious teachings of Islam: Adat badiri di nan patuik, syarak mamakai pado dalil, limbago duduak bajauahan, tarapak sambah ka tangah, taunjuak ka muko rapek, the doctrine greeting to people who attend an event. Then 11 sentences that comes to tradition, philosophy, ideology and ethics of society as a sentence Pusako duduak di nan rapek, kato surang dibulati, kato basamo dipaiyo, direnjeang kato jo mupakat which is the ideology of the people in Paninjauan village that is discussion.

Abstract

This study aims to find an effective communication model counselor in Narcotics Prison of Class IIA Sleman Yogyakarta in rehabilitating drug users. This study uses qualitative method for its ability to help clarify the picture of the development of models of effective communication patterns counselor Narcotics Prison Class II A Sleman Yogyakarta in rehabilitating drug users. The research found that the pattern of communication and coaching in the rehabilitation of drug users in Narcotic Prison of Class II A Sleman Yogyakarta consists of two patterns. The first is informal and formal communication patterns. The second concept is carried out by community terapeutic concept, a method aimed for the social rehabilitation for victims of drug users. This patterns aimed at forming prisoners in to a human who returned intact after dependence on drugs, fostering awareness of the law, reintegration in to society, job skills training, and counseling and rehabilitation programs.

Abstract

Karonese Batak tribe has ertutur tradition. It is communication of someone when meet people for the first time to get position in the custom and family relationship (pertuturen). When someone meets people for the first time, he or she reduces uncertainty by information seeking. This paper aims at analysing ertutur Karonese tradition as interpersonal communication model for Karonese young people living in Yogyakarta using uncertainty reduction theory. Using qualitative method, data were collected by in-depth interview and participatory observation to Karonese young people living in Yogyakarta. The research found that many young Karonese people living in Yogyakarta have difficulties in starting communication. Ertutur tradition can be one way to start communiation.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the discourse of motto used by Silet, the most favorite infotainment programs of Panasonic Gobel Awards. The research found that Silet has used language that can transform reality. Using language, Silet has constructed meaning to audiences that information presented has changed from original form. Something that is taboo now can be worthy to discuss it after broadcasted by Silet. Silet gives suggestion and ‘false consciousness’ to audiences that everything presented by Silet is good and right. The use of words and motto is a tactic to make proper banality of news content presented by Silet.

Abstract

The existence of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) can’t be separated from the figure of a clerics (kyai) and the communication between clerics and students (santri). Using qualitative research approach, this study aims to to prepare, understand and analyze communication models between clerics and students in Pesantren Raudhatul Qur’an An-Nasimiyyah. Communication Model between clerics and students in Islamic boarding school is influenced by the concept of Morals, status and charisma of clerics. Moral education is a way to establish communication that facilitates management of transfer of knowledge to students. Status and charisma of clerics are enhancer factor communicator legitimacy in the context of Islamic boarding school. The research concludes that the construction of communications models of clerics and students was formed by high-intensity interactions between clerics and students.

Abstract

This research aims to find out model of communication marketing as means to increasing the power of women’s UKM in informal sector of Yogyakarta. Research methodology in qualitative descriptive is used with collect data, focus group discussion (FGD). These research methodogy are service, food, and farm. Result of this research found model of communication marketing which is used media social methodology in informal sector to increasing the power of women’s UKM of Yogyakarta. This research extend give recommendation for women’s UKM of Yogyakarta to optimize their effort through social media such as facebook, twitter, instagram, and website.
