Abstract

For researchers in Islamic economics and finance, publishing a journal article is one of the prerequisites to enhance the discipline of Islamic economics and finance. However, to fill out the gap in current research in the field, a researcher has to review various peer-reviewed journals. This paper utilizes a bibliometric analysis through VOSviewer software to help a researcher visualizing the performance of the Islamic economics and finance journals and the researchers in the field as well as their topic of interest. This method enables a researcher with a self-developed approach in the data collection. The result of this study shows top-five Islamic economics and finance Indonesian journals, along with the ten most productive researchers. We believe there should be an improvement in the journal management and collaboration among researchers in Indonesia for the betterment of the journals in Islamic finance in the years to come.

Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that affect waqif?s decision in selecting productive waqf. Data collection is done by the questionnaires given to the respondents. The respondents are 65 waqif at Dompet Dhuafa Republika. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis and logit regression. The result shows that waqif?s decision in selecting productive waqf is affected by their comprehension on productive waqf, age, subjective norm, and marital status.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of zakah revenues and job creation on poverty rates. Using a panel data set of 23 districts in Aceh for the period of 2011-2017, a fixed-effect method of the panel regression model and the Granger causality test was utilized to analyze the functional relationships between the three variables. The study found out that the zakah revenue and job creation have a negative and significant effect on poverty rates. However, the negative effect of job creation on poverty rates is greater than the negative effect of zakah revenues. The Granger causality test indicates that there is bidirectional causality between poverty rates and zakah revenues and between employment creation and poverty rates. Conversely, there is no causality between zakah revenues and job creations.

However, some of the previous researches have also shown inconsistent result in which it is stated that the religious factor is the main reason for Chinese Ethnic to choose Islamic Banks, whereas some other research concluded that religion has nothing to do with the decision to become customer in Islamic Banks. In line with the purpose of the research is to analyze how far the factors mentioned above could influence the preference of people with Chinese Ethnicity towards Islamic Banks. The approach used in this research is survey method. Sumarwan (2011) explains that survey is a design of a research which collects data from some respondents that are selected from a population. The sample of this research is Indonesian Chinese Ethnics,  including the Muslim ones and also include those who are already a customer in Islamic Banks as well as those who are not. The data is analyzed by using SEM (structural equation model) technique. An interesting phenomenon of the research is that Islamic Banks use Islamic principles which prohibited the act of Riba’, while the Chinese Ethnic customers and the prospective customers also considering the same thing. Most of Chinese Ethnics are Buddhist, Christian, and Catholic which prohibited interests in banking system. The result of this study concluded that the level of knowledge of Chinese Ethnics that are not yet a customer towards Islamic Banks is lower than the knowledge level of Muslim Chinese Ethnics who are already a customer in Islamic Banks. With AIDA model, it is found that environment variable which consists of social and culture has significant influence towards atribute perception and also towards other AIDA variables such as Awareness, interest and desire.
