Abstract

Background: Psychosocial support for mothers in the implementation of the Prevention ofMother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV is very important in reducing the psychosocialburden so that people living with HIV/AIDS (ODHA) continue to enjoy good quality of life andfunction well in society. PMTCT program in the Province of Yogyakarta has started from2006, and some existing hospitals such as Dr. Sardjito General Hospital routinely reported onthe program in 2006-2009. Dr. Sardjito General Hospital is a referral hospital for somehospitals in Yogyakarta to receive people with HIV / AIDS, especially pregnant women whichare HIV positive. Objective: To find out the overview of the mother's psychosocial support in theimplementation of the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV in Dr.Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta. Methods: This was a qualitative study with a case study design. The research was conductedin Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta. Data collection was done with in-depthinterviews on maternal psychosocial support in the implementation of the Prevention ofMother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. Research subjects were 7 people and twoPMTCT officers taken by purposive sampling. Analysis of data was through some stagesnamely transcription, data reduction and coding, data presentation, conclusion drawing andverificationResults: The overview of support received by mothers in PMTCT implementation could beseen from the forms and sources of psychosocial support from family, relatives and healthpersonnel while from society it was not seen yet because the mothers had not been able toopen up about themselves. The impact of psychosocial support for mothers was that the lifebecame more meaningful and had more spirit, but in society the impact was not yet seenbecause the mothers were afraid to be isolated in the activity of the society environment. Conclusion: The mothers in the implementation of the Prevention of Mother-to-ChildTransmission (PMTCT) of HIV in Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, Yogyakarta, received fullsupport from the family but they had not been able to reveal their current condition to thepublic because of the fear that the public would not accept them leading to a feeling to beisolated and exiled. The officers had given their best services from the early time when themother knew to be infected by HIV and tried to eradicate stigma from other health providers. Keywords: Psychosocial Support, PMTCT of HIV

Abstract

Background: The administration of breast milk since early after birth is highly recommendedbecause it provides many health benefits for mother and baby. In the first hour, a baby willlearn to get used to sucking nipples and this prepares the mother to start producingcolostrums. The open access to maternal and infant closeness and unlimited frequency offeeding the baby for the first days after birth are the beginning of the acceleration of milkproduction. Objectives: To determine the postpartum mothers’ breastfeeding frequency, to determine theonset of lactation in primiparous postpartum mothers and to determine the effect ofbreastfeeding frequency on the onset of lactation on postpartum mothers in YogyakartaMunicipal Hospital. Methods: This was an observational study with a prospective cohort design. The number ofsamples was 54 determined purposively. The collection of data used observation sheet andchecklist. The study was started immediately after birth and followed until the third day. Thebivariable analysis used chi-square test with significant level of p <0.05 and CI95%.Results: The study found the majority of mothers had breastfed their babies with sufficientfrequency (72.2%) and with more rapid onset of lactation (64.8%) found in primiparouspostpartum mothers. There was a significant relationship between the frequency ofbreastfeeding and the onset of lactation, based on the analysis with p = 0.03, RR 2.3 andCI95% 0.95-4.23. Conclusion: Mothers who breastfed their babies with sufficient frequency were likely to havea 2.3 time opportunity to not delay the onset of lactation. Keywords: breastfeeding frequency, onset of lactation, primiparous

Abstract

Background: Wound is defined as an epithelial integrity damage of skin or separation of thenormal anatomic structure of tissues due to sharp or blunt trauma, temperature changes, chemicals, explosions, electric shock or animal bite. The process of wound healing beginswith the inflammatory process which is an important phase in wound healing. In the processof inflammation, white blood cells through a process would kill bacteria and debris using it’sneutrophils, therefore antibacterial or antimicrobial necessary to assist the process. Onecommon action that is practiced by the people is to utilize the binahong leaf. According toRawat et al. binahong leaves contain antimicrobial which is reactive to infecting bacteriaincluding Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is harmful germs in the wound. Objective: This study aims to determine the benefits of binahong leaf in the process of woundhealing (inflammatory phase)Methods: This type of research was an experimental quasy design with prospective cohortand quantitative approaches. Number of samples in this study were 10 mice (Mus musculus).Object of study was divided into 2 groups: group 1 was the control group and group 2 was agiven treatment group. Each group was consisted of 5 mice. Observations began aftersubjects were given wound and continued to take place every 12 hours for 4 days. Results; According to the analysis result, The average length of inflammatory phase in thecontrol group are 84 hours whereas the length of inflammatory phase in the treatment groupare 45,6 hours. Between those average lengths of the inflammatory phase in the 2 groups, there is an interval of 38,4 hours. It means that the treatment group has 38,4 hours shorterlength of inflammatory phase compared to control group. Conclusion: From the results of analysis and the discussion, it is found out that binahongleave is prove useful in the process of wound healing. Abstract

Background : Approaching the year 2020 cardiovascular disease will become the leadingcause of death in the world before the age of 65 years. National Health Survey in 2001 showedthat deaths due to cardiovascular diseases including coronary heart disease amountedto 26.4%, and until now CHD is also a major cause of premature death. Thus, responsibilityfor the disease is not only done by the medical worker but also every individual. Recentresearch suggests that increasing HDL cholesterol can prevent cardiovascular disease.Anthocyanins that are found in various plants Including strawberrie may reduce the risk ofcardiovascular disease.Purpose : to identify the effect of strawberry juice administration on levels of HDL in old peoplewith dyslipidemia. Methods : The study design used in this study is quasi experimental research (quasiexperiment) with the type of control group pretest-postest design that examines the influenceof strawberry juice on the levels of HDL in patients with dyslipidemia by measuringthe levels of HDL before treatment and after treatment. The population in this study were oldpeople with dyslipidemia aged 55-65 years old . The population is divided into two groups, which were the control group and test group. The control group did not receive anytreatment, while the test group consume strawberry juice for 14 days with a dose of 100g/day.Result : The results in each group obtained by calculating the average difference in thecontrol group and test group. In the control group decreased HDL cholesterol levels of 0.285mg / dl and in the test group there was an increase in HDL cholesterol of 24.582 mg / dl.Conclusion : Juice of strawberries which contain anthocyanin can increase levels of HDL inold people with dyslipidemia Keyword: Strawberries, HDL, dyslipidemia

Abstract

Background: The neonatal jaundice (icterus neonatorum) is a frequent problem encountered ininfants during the first week after birth. Sixty percents of healthy infants born full term are at riskof neonatal jaundice and 5-12% of infants are at risk of developing severe jaundice. Bilirubinencephalopathy causes severe jaundice/kernicterus and the baby suffering from cernicterus willexperience impaired growth and development. Severe neonatal jaundice can be prevented byutilization of sunlight. Sunlight helps the process of bilirubin degradation as to preventaccumulation of excessive bilirubin in the blood in the newborn. Objective: To determine the effect of utilization of sunlight on the risk of severe icterusneonatorum. To determine the reasons mothers do the utilization of sunlight and the reason themothers have not done proper utilization of sunlight. Methods: This study was an observational study with a prospective cohort design. The study wasconducted with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Sampling used purposive sampling. Thesample size was 86 pairs of mother-infant who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The datawas collected using monitoring sheets, check lists, and questionnaires. The qualitative data wereobtained from interviews to 6 respondents. Hypothesis test used chi-square with p<0.05 and 95%Confidence Interval. Analysis of data used univariable, bivariable, and qualitative analyses. Results: There were differences in the proportion of the incidence risk of neonatal jaundiceamong infants who received the good utilization of sunlight with infants who had less utilization ofsunlight. Babies who lacked the benefits of sunlight had a 2.5 times greater chance to experienceneonatal jaundice compared with infant with good benefits of sunlight. The reason why motherstook advantage of sunlight was because they felt confident that the sun could cope with jaundicein infants. They received knowledge about the benefits of sunlight from the information providedby health workers and family. The mothers had enough knowledge about the techniques ofappropriate utilization of sunlight but with less knowledge about the risks of ultraviolet on skin. Conclusion: Infants who benefited less sunlight had higher risk for having neonatal jaundicecompared with infants who benefited adequate sunlight. Abstract

Background: Attachment is a mutual bond between mother and child that occurs in the earlydays of life and extends to other caregivers. Secure attachment is due to the interaction betweenthe child and significant caregivers. Secure attachment is useful for the development ofpsychological health, cognitive, emotional, and social development of a child. Replacement of themain caregiver (mother) to substitute caregiver affects the sensitivity of parenting that willultimately affect the quality of child’s attachment. Objective: To determine differences in the quality of attachment to children aged 3-5 yearsbased on substitute caregivers and to determine the relationship of parenting sensitivity to theattachment quality of migrant workers’ children in East Lombok District. Methods: This was an observational study with a cross sectional design with quantitativeapproaches. The independent variables were substitute caregivers and parenting sensitivity andthe dependent variable was quality of attachment. Parenting sensitivity was measured by makingobservations based on the Caregiver Interaction Scale and child’s attachment was measured byAttachment Q-Set (AQS). Based on total population sampling, the sample in this study was 136pairs of children and caregivers. The bivariable analysis used independent t-test and ProductMoment correlation test. Results: There was no difference in the child's attachment to his/her aunt and grandmother as asubstitute caregiver, but there was a positive relationship between parenting sensitivity ofsubstitute caregivers to child’s attachment. The child who was left at the age more than 24months had greater attachment 19.34% than that left at the age of less than or equal to 24months (with a coefficient of 24.21).Conclusion: There was no significant difference in child's attachment to grandmother and auntas a substitute caregiver; however, there was a relationship between parenting sensitivity ofsubstitute caregivers and child’s attachment.
