Abstract

Background: Surgery is one of medical interventions which can cause fear, anxiety, and stressed because of its effects toward the integrity of body and soul. Nurses have significant roles in any preoperative care which is helping patients to decrease preoperative anxiety by using complementary therapy. The use of music therapy as one of the complementary therapies is not common in Indonesia. Therefore, scientific studies to prove the role of this therapy to decrease the level of anxiety of pre-operative patients is needed. Objective: To investigate the effects of music therapy in reducing anxiety levels of preoperative patients. Methods: A quasy experimental study with pre-test and post-test design with control group was applied to 50 respondents from medical ward in Panembahan Senopati Hospital of Yogyakarta who met the inclusion criteria.Dara were then analyzed by using t-test statistical analysis. Results: The control group showed the increased value of anxiety level of0.8 without music intervention (t= - 1503, df = 24, p<.05), whereas the intervention group showed the decreased value of anxiety level of -5.52 (t=5.081, df=24, p<.05). Meanwhile the independent t-test results for both groups showed a significant difference between group (t= 3,373, df=48, p<.05). Conclusion: Music therapy has significant effect in reducing preoperative anxiety levels of patients. Keywords: anxiety, preoperative, music therapy

Abstract

Background: Health degree is an important component of health development. One of the indicators is morbidity rate. Based on National Health Survey in 2008, the number of morbidity rate is 33.24% where 65.59% of population applied self-medication to treat their health problems. Many factors influence people to use self-medication. Family economic status is suspected to be one of them. Objective: This study aimed to identify the correlation between family economic status and self medication behavior. Methods: A quantitative cross sectional design study with retrospective approach was applied. Cluster random sampling technique was employed to 71 respondents. The Kendall Tau test was performed to analyze the data. The probability risk factors of self-medication was identified using odds ratio. Results: The family economic status were gained with 81.7% in high category and 15.5% in low category. The result of self-medication behavior showed 69% of the respondents often did self-medication, 15.5% rarely, and 15.5% never. The Kendall Tau correlation was 0,515 (p<0.05) and the odds ratio was 8,941. Conclusion: There is a moderate correlation between family economic status and self-medication behavior where the family with high economic status is more likely implement self-medication 8,941 times more than the one with low economic status. Abstract

Background:Sleep is a very fundamental need for every individual, especially for elderly people in social institutions. Poor quality of sleep in the elderly may lead to several disturbances, such as vulnerability to diseases,forgetfulness, psychomotor disorders, disorientation and difficulty to make decision. Some intervention may include pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. One of non-pharmacology therapies that isused to increase sleep qualityis rose aromatherapy. Objective: To determine the effect of rose aromatherapy on the quality of sleep in elderly at PSTW Budi Luhur Kasongan Bantul, Yogyakarta. Method: This study was a quasi-experiment research,with one group pretest-posttest design. Samples were taken with simple random sampling technique, involving 24 respondents. Each respondent was given rose aromatherapy for 5 minutes for 5 consecutive days. Result:Statistical analysis with marginal-homogeneity test showed p-value of 0,000 (p value<0,05).It suggested that there was a significant effect ofrose aromatherapy on the quality of sleep in elderly at Social Institution of Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur Kasongan Bantul, Yogyakarta. Conclusion:Roses aroma therapy has effect in improving sleep quality in the elderly at Social Institution of TresnaWerdha Budi LuhurKasonganBantul, Yogyakarta. Abstract

Background: Labor is the process of delivering a baby that occurs in full-term pregnancy (37-42 weeks). One of the efforts to reduce anxiety during labor is to provide support from a significant person, a husband. Husban’s support in labor process is a source of strength for woman who cannot be replaced by health personnel. Objective: To identify the relationship between husband’s support and anxiety level during labor on primigravida at Mlati II Health Center Sleman. Methods: This study was descriptive quantitative, with cross sectional approach. The samples were 20 respondents who were selected withaccidental sampling technique. Research employed questionnairesto measure husband’s support and mother’s anxiety level. Study used univariable and bivariable analysis. Result: Most of the husband's support during labor on primigravida at Mlati II Health Center Sleman were at high category (75.0%). The majority of mothers experienced mild anxiety (50.0%). The relationship between husband’s support and anxiety during childbirth in primigravida mother at Mlati II Health Center Sleman district was at strong category; r = -0.632 (.600 to .799). Conclusion : There was a relationship between husbands’ support andprimigravida mothers’ anxiety level during labor at Mlati II Health Center Sleman.

Abstract

Background:Physical and psychological changes during climacterium phase could influence quality of life in climacteric women. Eightypercent of womenreported anydiscomfortthat occurs as climactericsymptomssuch asheadaches, sexual problems, tachycardia, hot flushes, sweatingandinsomniathat can significantlydegrade the quality oflive. Factorsthat determinethe quality of lifeare age, menopauseduration, marital status, education level, income, employment status, healthstatus, health insurance, and parity. Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine thefactorsassociated withthe quality of life ofclimactericwomen. Methods: The study wasa quantitave research with cross sectional design. The samples were 88 subjects. Data collection used Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) and the WHOQOL-BREF.The data analysis used Spearman rank correlation test and contingency coefficient. Result: There was a significant relationship between parity and employment status with quality of life (p<0.05), but not to the variables of age, duration of menopause, marital status, education level, income, and health insurance. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between parity and employment status with quality of lifein climacteric women.   Keyword: quality of life, climacteric women

Abstract

Background:A sensitive indicator to monitor child growth is weight changes. Monitoring children health is one of Posyandu’s (Integrated Services Post) activities. KMS is a card that is utilized to record children growth. It is very pivotal for cadres to have knowledge and skill to fill the card, especially the weight graph, so the interpretation will be accurate. In instance, malnutrition should be early detected to provide immediate intervention. Objective: This study aimed to explore the KMS utilizationby cadres at Posyandu “Balita Sehat” in Bedoyo Kidul, Bedoyo village, Ponjong Sudistrict, Gunungkidul Regency. Research method: This was a survey study, with non-analytic descriptive design. Population was 12 active cadres in Bedoyo Kidul, Bedoyo village, Ponjong Sudistrict, Gunungkidul Regency. All cadres were involved in this study. Research result: The result showed that the KMS utilization by cadres was in poor category, both for knowledge and follow-up intervention (9 respondents, 75%). Conclusion: The KMS utilization by cadres in Bedoyo Kidul, Bedoyo village, Ponjong Sudistrict, Gunungkidul Regency was in poor category. Key words:KMS utilization, Cadres

Abstract

Background: Husband’s role is very crucial in supporting their wives in a process of delivery. The lack of a husband's role will lead to low participation in caring activities during the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period. Husband should be given knowledge about birth preparedness, which includes the planning of laborand preparing for a decision-maker in a case of emergency. Objective: To determine the role of husband in providing moril support to their wives in labor process at Pleret Bantul Puskesmas. Methodology: This research was descriptive quantitative, conducted at Pleret Bantul Puskesmas in 2015. Thirty-two respondentswere involvedassamplesby total sampling technique. Results:The husband's role in providing moril support on the expected date of birth was mostly high (87.5%). The husband's role in providing moril support during the pregnancy check was high (50.0%). The husband's role in providing moril support during the process of delivery is mostly high (81.3%).The husband's role in providing moril support in planning the labor process was high (59.4%). Conclusion:The role of the husband in providing moril support to their wives in labor process at Pleret Bantul Puskesmas washigh (59.4%). Keywords:Husband’sRole, Moril Support, Childbirth

Abstract

Background:Elderly period is a part of growth process. During this time,elderly will gradually experiencephysical, mental and social degeneration. Elderlywill alsoencounterseveral health problems including blood vessel disorders, metabolic disorders, joint disorders, and psycho-social disorders. The elderly welfare is assessed from their quality of life. Quality of life is used widely as anindication of the psychological welfare of elder age. Objective: To investigate the relationship between social support and quality of life of the elderly in the village of Cebogan, Sleman Methods: This study was quantitative descriptive research with cross sectional approach. The population in this study was the elderly in the village of Cebongan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Sampleswere chosenwith random sampling. The data analysis used Pearson product moment. Results:Elderly in the village of Cebongan, Sleman, were mostly aged 60-70 years old, and male. Social support which was givenwasof average 3.87 (SD= 0.329). Quality of life of the elderly was of average values as follows; physical quality of 65.31, psychology quality of 62.47, social quality of 70.14, environmental quality of 65.48, and cumulative quality of 65.85 (SD= 11.531). The result of Pearson Product examination figured out p= 0,000<0,05 with correlative coefficient value of 0,616. Conclusion: There was a relationshipbetween social support and quality of life of the elderly in the village of Cebongan, Sleman, with closesignificance level. Abstract

Background:Cervical cancer is a type of malignancy disease that is often found among women in Indonesia. It has a relatively high frequency until 25.6%. According to the Ministry of Health, there are about 100 cases per 100 thousand population or 200 thousand cases annually, and the cases of cervical cancer in Central Java increase year to year. The high mortality rate of cervical cancer in Indosnesia due to the lack of general knowledge about the dangers of cancer, the early signs of cancer, the risks factors for cancer, the ways to overcome it correctly, as well as to familiarize themselves with a healthy lifestyle. The treatment as early as possible is an important thing by giving counseling and information about Cervical Cancer. It is one of promoted action to prevent and reduce the cervical cancer. The long-term goal of this research is to analyze and explore health issues within the scope of midwifery. Objectif This study has the specific purpose of analyzing the effect of health education on maternal knowledge about Cervical Cancer In the village of Tambakrejo, Tempel, Sleman, Yogyakarta. This study is a part of an effort to deepen the understanding of health knowledge among the community, especially in the obstetrics field. Result : This study is a quasi-experimental approach to one group pre-test to post-test design. The populations in this study are all couples of reproductive age in the village of Tambakrejo, Tempel, Sleman Yogyakarta. Conclusion The statistical test used is paired samples test. The research results show that there are differences in knowledge before and after giving health education about cervical cancer (p = 0.0001 <0.05). The knowledge of cervical cancer when pre-test with a category is 3% increased to 37% at post-test. Health education provides increase the knowledge of cervical cancer among the fertile age couples. Abstract

Background: Teenagers, especially femalearesusceptible to problems related to malnutrition such as Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED). Objective: To determine the characteristics of nutritional status based on age, weight, height, arm circumference, and Body Mass index (BMI) in X and XI grade students at SMAN 1 Depok, Sleman District, Yogyakarta. Method: The study was an observational study with cross-sectional approach. Measurement used a digital scale, mikrotoise, and upper arm circumference tape. Subjects in this study were 250 female teenagers. Descriptivequantitative analysis was employed for data with numerical/continuous scale (ratio and interval). Results: The majority of female teenagers aged between 14-18 years (mean= 16yo). The meanweight was 50.58 kg, the meanheightwas 155.65 cm, and the mean size of the upper-arm circumference was 24.9 cm. The measurement showed the mean BMI was 20.9 kg/m2. Ten percent of students were categorized as severeunderweight (severe CED) and 7.2% were in the obesecategory. Measurement of nutritional status with upper-arm circumference showed 33.6% female teenagerswere at risk of CED. Conclusion: There were female teenagerswho had problems with nutritional status (severe underweight and obese). Upper-arm circumference measurement results showed 33.6% of teenagers were at risk of CED. Keyword: Nutritional status, BMI, upper-arm circumference, CED
