Abstract

AbstractSelf-regulation is considered as one of the success key for students. Self-regulation process involves one?s activities to produce thoughts, feelings, and actions, to plan and continuously to adapt in order to achieve the targeted goals. This study aims to describe the experiences of best students in self-regulating themselves, particularly in improving their achievement as a student as endorsed by the university. Two students who won the Best Students Competition held by a university had participated in this study. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used in this study. Data was collected using interview and subsequently were analyzed using the transcendental phenomenological method. The study focused on finding meaning and understanding the selfregulatory process of students in pursuing their academic achievement. The findings showed that self-regulation was defined as having an integrated thoughts, feelings, and actions, continuously, and targeted in pursuing the achievement. Self-regulation was a process in guiding self towards a holistic person, academically (to be a best student), socially (to be a good child as well as a good sister), and existentially (to be a useful person).

Abstract

This study aims to compare the level of intelligence between male and female, especially in the learning process in college. Someone who could complete their undergraduate study with a shorter period of time is assumed to have a higher level of intelligence. This research was conducted on Syiah Kuala University students who graduated on the second period of 2017 with a population of 758 people. The number of samples used was 262 people that were determined through Slovin formula with a margin error of 5%. The sampling technique used was Stratified Random Sampling with scientific disciplines as the basis for population stratification. The data analysis method used was the Cox Proportional Hazard (Cox PH) model to find a graduation hazard ratio based on gender and scientific disciplines variables. This study showed that female students have 125.5% potential to graduate faster compare to male. More detail, female students have the potential of 127% to graduate faster on the field of social science, economics and humanities, and 123.9% on the field of sciences and technology. Survival analysis also showed that female student has higher probability to be able to complete their studies faster. Accordingly, it can be concluded that female have a higher level of intelligence than male, especially in the learning process in college.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the relationship between psychological capital with work engagement employees of PT. Bank Mega Regional Area Semarang. Psychological capital is an individual?s positive psychological state of development and is characterized by self- efficacy, optimism, hope and resiliency. Then, work engagement is defined as a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind that is characterized by vigor, dedication, and absorption. This study used proportional sampling technique. The subjects were all employees of PT. Bank Mega Regional Area Semarang which have staff levels (N=73). The research instrument was psychological capital scales with 28 items (? = 0.953) and work engagement scales with 29 items (? = 0.938). The results by simple regression analysis obtained rxy = 0.716, with p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). The results indicated that there was a positive correlation between psychological capital and work engagement. The higher psychological capital was higher work engagement. Coefficient of determination by 51,3, it meaning that psychological capital effectively contributed for 51,3 % of work engagement. The remaining 48,7 % determined by other factors that are not revealed in this study, for example: job resources and job demands.Keywords: Psychological capital, work engagement, employee

Abstract

Mother in law also has role to support the success of exclusive breastfeeding, beside biological mother. Thisstudy aimed to investigate differences between perceived breastfeeding social support from mother-in-law on working and not working-women. There are 200 sample of this study, which is divided to 2 groups of 100 working-women and 100 not working-women. Perceived breastfeeding social support scale (27 item, ? = .95) is used in this study and it is constructed by using social-functional support theory. Result shows that there is significant differences between perceived breastfeeding social support from mother in law on working and notworking women (t (198)=2.42; p= .016; p < .05). Emotional support and informational support from mother-inlaw more perceived by not working women than working mom, in the other hand, working women and not working women have no different perception about instrumental support. Result of this study may be one of information that can be used to inform mother-in-law about how precious social support is to exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Biologi merupakan salah satu pelajaran yang sangat penting dan berhubungan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Biologi tumbuh seiring perkembangan zaman dan teknologi dan memiliki prosepek yang menjanjikan. Untuk dapat berhasil dan menghasilkan hasil yang optimal dalam pelajaran Biologi, guru perlu memperhatikan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan sehingga motivasi siswa untuk belajar Biologi dapat meningkat. Motivasi belajar Biologi adalah keseluruhan daya penggerak di dalam diri siswa yang menimbulkan kegiatan belajar, yang menjamin kelangsungan dari kegiatan dan memberikan arah pada kegiatan belajar pada pelajaran Biologi, sehingga tujuan yang dikehendaki oleh subjek belajar dapat dicapai. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang kemungkinan dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar adalah metode pembelajaran kontekstual. Penerapan metode pembelajaran kontekstual ini pada pelajaran Biologi akan dinilai oleh siswa baik secara kognitif maupun afektif. Persepsi siswa terhadap metode pembelajaran kontekstual akan mempengaruhi perilaku belajar siswa. Siswa yang memiliki persepsi positif akan memiliki motivasi belajar Biologi yang tinggi sedangkan siswa yang memiliki persepsi yang negatif terhadap pembelajaran kontekstual memiliki motivasi belajar Biologi yang rendah. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kerinci berjumlah 153 orang siswa. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah sampel jenuh. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah skala persepsi terhadap pembelajaran kontekstual yang berjumlah 29 aitem (? = 0.919) dan skala motivasi belajar Biologi yang berjumlah 29 aitem (? = 0.914). Hasil analisis data dengan metode analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan hasil rxy sebesar 0.804 dengan p = 0.000 (p<0.05). Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan positif yang signifikan antara persepsi terhadap metode pembelajaran kontekstual dengan motivasi belajar Biologi. Efektifitas regresi dalam penelitian ini adalah sebesar 64.7%, artinya motivasi belajar Biologi siswa kelas XI IPA 64.7% ditentukan oleh persepsi terhadap pembelajaran kontekstual.Kata kunci: persepsi, pembelajaran kontekstual, motivasi belajar Biologi, siswa kelas XI IPA

Abstract

Being grandparents is an important role and valued in the family in which family members have a certain view of the existence of grandparents in the family especially about what will be taught to their grandchildren. When grandchildren have disability, grandparents form a special expectation of themselves and grandchildren resulting on adjustment in the interaction process with grandchildren. This study aims to explore how the interaction between grandparents and grandchildren with disabilities can influence the formation of self-identity and the role of grandparents in the family. The study used a qualitative method, semi-structured interviews were conducted on 10 grandparents of children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities located in Semarang, Central Java, obtained through purposive sampling techniques. An Interpretative Phenomenology Analysis resulted in three main themes, namely: the formation of a grandfather's self-identity, the role of grandparents, and the assessment of the development of their grandchildren. The results highlight the important role of grandparents when a child has a disability, which illustrates that the grandparents' experience and role in the family vary, depending on the child's disability and the context of each family.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the forms of aggressive behavior that received by victims of courtship violence and the factors that causes violence in long term courtship. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach using data collection techniques by observing and interviewing. The sampling technique used in this study is snowball technique. Data analysis techniques follow this stages: analyzing all the data, categorizing data, preparing the psychological dynamics, connecting with the theoretical basis and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, it shows the forms of aggressive behavior that received by victims of violence in courtship is verbal or symbolic aggression behavior, such as harsh words, words that is not worth to listen, mocking/scolding, threatening, insisting, and limiting intercommunication. In case of violation of property rights, is the property of the subjects used at one?s pleasure by their mate without permission. Physical assault is in the form of forced asking or confiscated subject as well as hitting or knocking head. While the reason for the victims to survive is feeling shy because everyone already knows their courtship relationship.Besides, the victim thinks and hopes theirmatewould be better and their relationshipwould be improved.

Abstract

Ranggawarsita (1802-1873), with his Serat Kalatida, attempt to analyze the condition which he considers his era full of doubt so devastated humanity. Ranggawarsita has been suggested the insanity period and his views on humanism through these serat, before the emergence of similar views in Europe. What is described in the Serat Kalatida with connotative language is considered to be still relevant today, because today's conditions are resemble with the era who Ranggawarsita described, so the serat was kept under review by various disciplines. Nevertheless, researchers are still very few studies assessing the work of this Ranggawarsita from the stand point of psychology. The purpose of this study was to examine and know the meaning of suffering as described in the Serat Kalatida. Researchers hope that by knowing the meaning of this suffering, it will be able to help many individuals to be able to reach the meaning of suffering. Serat Kalatida fiber is connotative and rhymes that require interpretation effort to it, then the hermeneutic method was chosen to be used in this study. Researchers in this study using a hermeneutical-phenomenological study presented by Heidegger, basing on the involvement of the text as subject, author and researcher himself, done by continuing to maintain these components to be in the relevant context. Based on the analysis, it can be explained that the existence of human beings to be able to reach most essential meaning of his suffering on the journey through the three stages of human existence. The first stage is kalatida, which is the root of suffering and the beginning of human personal spirituality dissapear, to later become the mode era, when the socially integrated in the flow of the flooded kalatida in the ati world, until then seep back into the ati in human personal level. The second phase is marked by a leap in human aesthetics in the kalatida to be the human darsana as ethical personality that is able to embrace the meaning of suffering in an ethical, with a through road pinikir sayekti, eling and waspada, niteni, and always doing kaelokan. Peak phase of this existential search is in mati sajroning ngaurip, where a mystical man who has been able to purify his tyas, and became a great man in santosa, so the individuals will lead bond (kawula) with the universal reality of the Divine (Gusti) in suksma, or is familiarly known as the manunggaling kawula gusti. The results of this study is the simulative discourse to psychology study based on local wisdom, especially Java, more broadly, however, because human beings as part of its cultural narratives can only be understood in its cultural relativity. With the understanding of cultural values as part of the internal psyche, the study toward Serat Kalatida is expected to be an alternative in understanding the human mind through the East, especially the way of Javanese people thinking.Keywords: the meaning of suffering, Serat Kalatida, hermeneutical-phenomenological, kalatida, mati sajroning ngaurip.Permalink :

Abstract

Setiap orang pasti mendambakan keluarga Sakinah, Mawaddah Wa Rochmah. Keluarga bahagia ibarat surga dunia, sebagaimana sabda Nabi Muhammad SAW, bahwa ? Rumahku Surgaku ?. Keluarga, pendidik pertama dan utama bagi anak dan menjadi dasar penting dalam pembentukan karakter anak. Anak diibaratkan seperti selembar kertas putih kosong yang harus diisi, dalam hal ini peran orang tualah yang sangat dominan mendidik anak semenjak dini, dengan penuh kelembutan dan kasih sayang membangun kebiasaan- pembiasan positif, mampu menjadi contoh yang baik dan memberi makan yang halal & toyib.
