Abstract

This research paper aims to investigate the Effectiveness of text Completion Technique towards Students’ Speaking Skill at Eleventh Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Mathla’ul Anwar Pusat Menes. The research paper employs the quantitative research, with the quasy experimental design. Then, the researcher uses observation and performance test in which students of both classes use procedural text as the specific speaking material. In the data collecting technique, it compares pre-test and post-test results of both experimental and control class. Therefore, to analyze the data, the researcher used statistical computation. It works to count scoring, the result of the test, calculating the mean of both experimental and control class. Besides that, it calculated the standard deviation of each group and then found out the significant difference by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysis and interpretation of the research, it is clear that there is a significant difference after teaching speaking by using text completion technique in experimental class and teaching speaking by using lecture technique in control class.

Abstract

This research aims to compare the effectiveness of two methods, PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, State and Test) and SGD (Small Group Discussion). It was carried out at the second semester students of Penjaskesrek Department, Dehasen University. The design was a quasi-experiment. The sample consisted of two classes; one was taught by the PQRST method and another by the SGD method. The instrument was a reading test, which was tried-out; the reliability was 0.917 (very high). The result was as follows: at the pretest, there was no significant difference between both group on all aspects and at the post test, there were no significant difference between both groups on general comprehension, reading to learn from the text, and reading to integrate information. However, SGD was found to be more effective on finding general information while PQRST was found to be more effective on reading to skim and finding simple information.

Abstract

This study aims to determine  the effect of using Kim’s memory game towards students’ speaking skill at tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Malingping–Lebak under this research question: is there any effect of using Kim’s memory game towards students’ speaking skill?. The method used in this research is an experimental research. the population was taken 319 and sample 34 for experimental class and 34 for control class. The researcher uses English oral test (pre-test and post-test) as instrument of the research before and after giving treatment to each class, control and experimental class. From the result of the research, the researcher found that the students in experimental class got better result than those in control class. This can be seen from the data showed that t test (t0) is 3.17, while t table (tt) is 2.00, in other words t test > t table.  This means that there is significant effect of Kim’s memory game in teaching speaking. So the hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

This study investigated applying of hypertext to promote EFL for students to improve reading comprehension. The objective of this study is to find out the implementation of hypertext and to what extent the use of hypertext can improve students? reading comprehension. This study is applying classroom action research which was conducted at one of senior high school in Pandeglang and predicated by 27 second grade students of senior high school. For analysis of the data, this study used qualitative approach supported with observation, students? test, questionnaire, and interview. This study showed applying of hypertext in teaching and learning process was successful. The data gained from students? test showed that the applying of hypertext to promote EFL can improve students? reading comprehension. The mean of students score in the third cycle was 73.92 with twenty one students achieved score above minimum completion score or KKM (70). In addition, most students agree that applying of hypertext can improve their reading comprehension. For the finding it is recommended for further studies that the applying of hypertext can be implemented in teaching English lesson to improve the students? reading comprehension.

Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of ESA method towards students? writing on narrative text at the first grade students of MAN 3 Pandeglang in 2018/ 2019 academic year. The research paper employs non-equivalent control group design. It compares both of experimental group (O2-O1) and control group (O4-O3). In her research which is consisted of 172 that is took as sample 30 as Experimental Class and 30 as Control Class. In this research, the writers use the achievement test in calculating the need of data to the relevant problem, then, giving a treatment to the experimental class by using ESA method and using Lecturer method in control class. The writers use statistical computation in order to find out which hypothesis is accepted and which is rejected, (Ha) or (Ho). From research of data, it is found that tcount is higher than ttable in term of statistic, it could be seen that t-count ? t- table = 2,973 ?2,002. It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Based on the finding, the writers concluded that ESA method has an influence in teaching writing on narrative text because it can more explore their imagination on written form.

This research aims to investigate the effect of application guessing game pic-pow strategy towards students? speaking mastery at the first class of SMA Mathla?ul Anwar Menes. It employs the quantitative research with the characteristics of  the true experimental design. It uses achievement test in collecting data involving orally pre and post tests. The findings reveal that application guessing game pic-pow strategy is able to help students to improve their speaking skill mastery. In the pre-test, the mean of experimental class is 38 and the mean of control class is 39, 13 while in the post-test the mean of experimental class is 92,75 and mean of control class is  79, 29. In the post test of t-test, the researcher can conclude that tcount ? ttable or 3, 0858 ? 1, 672 therefore Ha is accepted and there is a significant effect of application guessing game pic-pow strategy towards students? speaking mastery.

Abstract

The purposes of this research is to analysis the source text from the novel with the title ?chamberof the secret? written by JK Wrolling with using software monoconc Pro (MonoPro). This researchused software Monoconc Pro (MonoPro) Version 2.0 invented by Michael Barlow as a tool in theanalysis contributes a great role. As corpus software that functions to show the concordance ofwords, this tool starts the analysis by searching the focusing word ?eyes?. Finding of this researchshowed that the making meaning is the most important aspect to avid readers since it is the placewhere the unity of the novel is. The research was done by using corpus-based analysis which itprovides objective result as it was gave evidences. In order to make meaning to the novel, theresearch made by searching on how the similarity of words that occur mostly in the novel andconclude the meaning by seeing on how they show based on its sentences and/ or its context asthis research has done.

Abstract

This study discusses the ability to read and write. The study aims to answer some problems, namely: 1) Knowing students’ reading comprehension, 2) Knowing students’ writing skill, and 3) To obtain whether there is a significant relationship between students' reading comprehension and writing skills or not. This research uses Mix method. The population is 183 students of MTs. Negeri 5 Pandeglang. The researcher took 30 students as sample. To test the research hypothesis, the researcher collected data analysis using inferential statistical techniques using Product Moment formula. The finding of research hypothesis shows that: 1) The level of students’ comprehension in reading was very low. This could be seen from the analysis that shows the mean 59.7. 2) The level of students’ writing skill was in the medium category. This could be seen from the analysis, showing the mean 68. 3) There is a significant positive relationship between reading ability and writing ability. Based on the quantitative analysis, the results of the research show that the observation value r is 0.963 above the 5% rejection limit of 0.361 and the 1% rejection limit of 0.461, in other words 0.963 > 0.463 at the 5% level and 0.361 > 0.963 at the 1% level. Thus the result is stated significant and the proposed hypothesis is accepted.
