Abstract

This study discusses about mathematical problem solving ability of sudents of SMA Negeri 1 Wundulako, Souteast Sulawesi province. Discussion is done by descriptive and inferential analysis to reveal mathematical problem solving ability of sudents after being taught by cooperative learning model. Results of statistical analysis of the data concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students of SMAN 1 Wundulako based on three aspects classified in a good category, but these three aspects have different average. From those three aspects, the average of students are low at problem solving aspect namely choosing and applying strategy to solve model or mathematical problem and out of mathematical problem. However, the learning spirit of students is incrieasing enough when taught with cooperative learning model, of Jigsaw and TSTS types. This condition causes average of mathematical problem solving ability of students which taught with cooperative learning model, Jigsaw type is better than TSTS type or STAD. While inferentially concluded that there is an interaction between cooperative learning model and character behavior of the mathematical problem solving ability.

Abstract

EFFECT OF EMPOWERMENT AND JOB SATISFACTION TOWARD JOB PERFORMANCE OF LECTURER IN MAJALENGKA UNIVERSITY, WEST JAVA. The objective of this research is to understand comprehensively the effect of empowerment and job satisfaction toward job performance of lecturer in Majalengka University, West Java. A survey method with path analysis techniques was used by applying a questioner as a research instrument. 80 responders were involved by sending their feedback within the questioner. Those responders were decided using simple random sampling among all lecturers that working at the Majalengka University. The data result, analysis and interpretation reveal that (1) empowerment has a direct positive effect toward job performance, (2) job satisfaction has a direct positive effect toward job performance, (3) empowerment has a direct positive effect toward job satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether there is relationship between the ability of mathematical problem solving with emotional intelligence at students of Junior High School.The hypothesis of the study is that the students’ ability of mathematical problem solving which using discovery strategy in learning is better than students’ ability which using conventional learning strategy. The sample obtaining of the study is conducted by purposive sampling at the second year students of one of SMP in Purwakarta regency in academic years 2013/2014. The method used in this study is a qualitative study that quantified where quantitative method it self is used top rove the hypothesis by comparing the two classes with different treatments by using quasi experiment research design. The results hows that the mathematical problem solving ability of students who learning using the discovery method is the same as the conventional learning students.The results obtained from the mathematical problem solving ability of students who have completed the learning with discovery method, those quality does not in crease well. Although the obtained scores a chieved by students at the beginning of learning until the end of the lesson for the better.

Abstract

This research is mixed method with concurrent embedded strategy that aims to find out: (1) How the ability of mathematical creative thinking of superior students and asor students ; (2) Iscreative thinking ability of students who learn by learning cognitive conflict better than the conventional learning based on students' pre requisites  ability (superior andasor). The population of the research is SMAN CMBBS students, with two classses of class XI IPA as sample. The instruments used in this research are multiple choice mathematics test reasoned and description, teachers and students activity observation sheets, and interview about learning. The data are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively that obtained from pre-test and post-test results and gain normalized. The results show that: (1) The creative thinking ability of superior students and asor students before learning is same; (2) The creative thinking ability of students who learn by learning cognitive conflict is better than the conventional learning based on students' pre requisites ability (superior).

Abstract

Mathematics is very important lesson to learn by students. But, in the reality most of the students are get low result in mathematics. One of the problem is the weakness of the skill to communicate the ideas systematically. It caused by the mathematical writing skill students and it is part of communication aspect that has not developed yet optimally. One of teaching alternative it can be used to increase the mathematical writing skill students is teaching collaborative through Writing from A Prompt (WfAP) strategy and Writing in Performance Tasks (WiPT) strategy. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of collaborative teaching through WfAP strategy and through WiPT strategy to the increase of mathematical writing skill at junior high school students. This method use experiment research and the data analysis of this research use test one way ANOVA and test Scheffe. Based on the data analysis it can be conclude that there are the differences between the mathematical writing skill students who get collaborative teaching through WfAPstrategy, collaborative teaching through WiPTstrategy, and convensional teaching. The mathematical writing skill students who get collaborative teaching through WfAP strategy and collaborative teaching through WiPTstrategy better than convensional teaching.

Abstract

This study is a quasi-experimental study designed control group of non-equivalent that aims to investigate the effect of cooperative script learning model use on the students’ ability of mathematical understanding and communication. The sample of this study is class X AP 1 and class X AP 2 students. The instruments used in this study are: understanding ability test, mathematical communication test, and the student attitude scale. The findings and data analysis show: There is an interaction between cooperative script learning model and conventional learning with MEA of students are capable of high, medium and low towards the increase of students’ mathematical communication, there is a relationship between understanding ability and mathematical communication of students, and students respond positively on cooperative script learning model in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair. Tujuan lain adalah untuk mengetahui dampak self confidence siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis antara siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model think pair share dengan konvensional. Karena rerata gain ternormalisasi pada siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model think pair share lebih kecil dari kelas kontrol. Hal tersebut menunjukkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share tidak lebih baik daripada kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika secara konvensional berdasarkan kemampuan awal matematika (tinggi, sedang, rendah). Sedangkan data hasil self confidence siswa dapat disimpulkan bahwa dampak self confidence siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share adalah sangat tinggi. Hal ini diperlihatkan dari data hasil angket self confidence. Berdasarkan hasil analisis hubungan (korelasi), ternyata tidak terdapat hubungan yang positif antara kemampuan pemahaman matematis dengan self confidence siswa.

Abstract

This experimental study aims to identify how significant the effect of collaborative MURDER teaching model towards students’ speaking skill, the effect of learning style towards students’ speaking skill and the interaction effect of teaching model and learning style towards students’ speaking skill. The population is students of Al-Qudwah and Al-Bayan Integrated Junior High School, and the sample are students in class VIII grade consist of thirty and thirty one students in which their English ability are almost same. The technique of getting the samples in this research is clustersampling to get sample randomly. Data is got by using test, posttest after treatment. This research uses oral test to measure students’ speaking skill. The result of this research are: (1) there is significant effect of collaborative MURDER teaching model towards students’ speaking skill. (2) There is significant effect of learning style towards students’ speaking skill. (3) There is no interactive effect of teaching model and learning style towards students’ speaking skill. The effect of teaching model towards students’ speaking skill that has been taught by collaborative MURDER teaching model is better than students’ speaking skill that has been taught without collaborative MURDER teaching model. In learning style, students in visual learning style are better than students in auditory learning style. CollaborativeMURDERcanbe an alternativelearning modelthatcanbe usedinJunior High School.

Abstract

This study deals with the investigation between teaching methods and learning style. The process in conducting the study, two classess were chossen as sample in sixteen classes. The implicit and explicit methods choosen to know which method gives significant effect to the students deals with their learning style, holistic and sequential learners. The study focused on student’s writing ability, recount text. The first class used the implicit method as the experiment class and the other used explicit method as a comparison class. To see which methods were more effectives to introduce the simple tenses that are on the recount text. It also to see whether learning style gives significant effect on both method. The result of the study suggest that the materials given are not deep enough to see the difference on both methods. It was suggested to provide more materials related to the structure of grammar to deeply see the difference between the methods.

Abstract

The research aims to enhance the students’ active involvement in reading learning and reading comprehension based on the reading text-based situational needs and interest. The research is conducted in SMAN Cahaya Madani Banten Boarding school (CMBBS) at the twelfth grade students. The data is collected from interview, observation and questionnaire. The data is analyzed from the students’ active involvement in reading learning and the students’ reading comprehension based on the reading text-based situational needs and interest. From the two types of the reading texts, the researcher sees the students’ active involvement in each group and amongst the group in reading learning and the students’ reading comprehension on the reading text-based situational needs and interest. The findings of the research are the students’ active involvement in reading learning using the reading text-based situational needs is well-enhanced and the students’ reading comprehension using the reading text-based situational needs is also well-enhanced. The students involved themselves actively in reading learning on the reading text-based situational needs in each group and amongst the groups and the students comprehended the reading text-based situational needs well. The conclusions of the research are the reading texts-based situational needs can enhance the students’ active involvement in reading learning and the students’ reading comprehension on the reading texts.
