Abstract

Educational practitioner and educational staff play an important role in reaching the national education objectives, including in non-formal education. Teachers of Kindergarten, Early Childhood Education, and Community Education are expected to provide all level of society with quality educational services. The purpose of this article is to describe various efforts which have already done and to be done by The Directorate of Teacher Development for Kindergarten, Early Childhood Education, and Community Education, particular in 2017. The article presents in detail priority programs such as (1) strengthening the roles of teachers and supporting educational staff, (2) developing the teachers and supporting educational staff of Early Childhood Education and Community Education, and (3) improving the quality of management of teachers and supporting educational staff of Early Childhood Education and Community Education. In addition, considering the exisiting and the future condition, a number of problems and threats are also mentioned with some alternative solutions suggested.

Abstract

Father’s involvement in parenting and early childhood education and development (ECED) is a form of active participation in supporting child’s development. Father does not often actively participated in parenting particularly in the community having patrilinial system. The study, conducted from October 2015 to March 2016 in Kupang, aimes at identifying father’s involvement in parenting and ECE. Research design used was qualitative with interview as data collection method. Four heads of urban community participated in this reseatch. Thematic analysis was conducted.The result of the study indicates that fathers in Kupang city have involved themselves in parenting and ECED, but the involvement are limited to economic needs fulfillment while attention and emotional needs are less fulfilled. The study suggests to improve father’s involvement through socializations, seminars or discussions.

Abstract

Taman Anak Sejahtera (TAS) is one of the forms of social service which aims to provide treatment, care and protection to children of three months up to eight years. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of nurturing principles in TAS . The study was conducted in Jakarta as from August through October 2016 applying descriptive-qualitative method, with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. While, the data was analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. This research was conducted at TAS Lentera Nusantara in South Jakarta, TAS Akur Kurnia in East Jakarta, and TAS Kesuma in Central Jakarta. The selection of the three TAS is based on the consideration given by the Ministry of Social Affairs as the Department which supervises the existence of TAS. The results from this study revealed that caregivers can not provide care services that include health and nutrition, education, and care and protection in accordance with the objectives of TAS.

Abstract

This article aims to discover the competence of early childhood teachers in developing early gross motor skills based on academic qualifications and find out the improvement efforts. This library research with qualitative descriptive approach, was conducted as from September 2016 through January 2017. The data obtained from internet and other resources were processed and analyzed qualitatively. The results indicate that the competence of early childhood teachers whose academic qualification of early childhood education is adequate, although there are differences in quality based on the study program. The competence of teachers whose academic qualification of other relevant educational and psychological degrees is not sufficient because their provision of knowledge is also lacking. This research recommends to revise the existing regulations stated in the Government Regulations and Ministry Regulations related to the provision of the early childhood teachers.

Abstract

The limited ability of women is a very crucial problem in the community, especially in fulfilling their daily needs due to the gap between the required ability and the low the ability they have. The main priority in improving the women’s life quality is by providing that can improve their ability to utilize the local natural resources for commercial purposes. The purpose of this study is to describe the process, outcome and effects of the training. Applying quantitative and qualitative approach and descriptive method, this study was conducted in LKP Yuniza Desa, Kecamatan Salawu in August 2016. The data was collected by using participative observation, interview, and document study. Research subjects included learning community members, tutors, and LKP’s management. The result of the study indicate women can be empowered through enterpreneurship training which provide them with knowledge, attitude, and skills enabling them independent and self employed to improve their life quality.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find out (1) the condition of the course institution and training in tourism sector, (2) the mechanism of leraning of tourism in the institution of the course and training, (3) the programs that can be developed in the field of tourism, (4) tourism profession, and (5) competency test mechanism in the certification body. The research was conducted at the Institution of Course and Training (ICT) in the field of toursm in Central Java and Yogyakarta as from August - September 2016. This quantitative descriptive research with survey approach collected primary quantitative and qualitative data using interview and observation techniques and secondary data obtained from literature and document study. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The research results show that almost all ICT in tourism field targeted in this research are good enough. However, the instructional programs and strategies to develop are still mostly applying local curriculum created by the Institution itself not based on Indonesian Qualification Framework and international standard.

Abstract

Cases of sexual violence in children are so alarming that making parents who have young children become more vigilant and fearful of the safety of their children.This article discusses the importance of interpersonal communication between parents and children, especially those aged early to give an understanding of self-protection. Good communication is essentially applied between parents and children in order to generate a positive relationship. The communication must be built starting from early childhood, it is intended that the creation of a good relationship between parents and children to create a harmonious relationship. Families who have problems with family characteristics that are not reasonable and have children who need care the family problems that must be fixed first. Children who do not have a father or mother becomes the main to be considered by the government. Families who have the ability to raise children well and have sufficient knowledge to equip and protect children from violence and child abuse then can the communication between parents and children is necessary, through sex education for children, expressing themselves honestly, communication Interpersonal Harmonious, an example by using good language and motivation to become independent.

Abstract

Local language is one of the characteristics as well as a cultural richness of an area that needs to be preserved existence. In Gorontalo, some teenagers are not confident in their local languages, and children who are unable to communicate with Gorontalo language even in very simple contexts, especially people in urban areas. Learning local languages of Gorontalo at the level of Early Childhood Education is considered to be one solution, considering the early age is a potential moment to develop various potentials, including the potential for language. Conditions encountered in early childhood education institutions show that learning / language activities in Gorontalo are not structured, resulting in the development of Gorontalo language ability in children is very low. For that reason, learning language of Gorontalo in early childhood needs to be organized in a systematic and structured based on clear guidelines. These guidelines include: (a) learning programs that are appropriate to the characteristics of early childhood development, (b) learning materials appropriate to the characteristics of early childhood development, and (c) evaluation guidelines that can clearly measure the development of local language skills in children aged early.
