Abstract

The research aims at describing the insight level of the Kindergarten Teachers in Jakarta on the language competence of the 4-6 years aged children. Employing survey method, the research selected 100 teachers undertaking PLPG as samples. The research was conducted as from May to July 2012. Having analyzed the data, the research found the highest score is 71 and the lowest is 38. It concludes the insight of Kindergarten teachers on the language competence of 4-6 years aged children in Jakarta still low.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce a hypothetical training model to improve the competence of multicultural counselor candidates. The research was conducted at Guidance and Counseling Department, School of Education, State University of Jakarta as from March through December 2012. The samples were selected from the nonregular program students of 2009 attending Social-Cultural Study Course. Employing Research and Development Mode, the data were collected by using KKM instruments for counselor candidates which had been validated. The model produced from this research consists of frame work component, training phases, training format, training curriculum (content, method, process), training norm, counselor educator’s role, and training evaluation. The research recommends to do do further research to evaluate the effectiveness of the model.

Abstract

A profesional teacher should have expertice and responsibility supporting by strong professionalem etique. He/She should have competence qualification including intellectual, social, spiritual, character, and moral competence. This article discusses the important role of the teachers for Early Childhood Education in Indonesia. Considering their important tasks and responsibility in educating the children, the article is of the opinion that not anybody or any teacher can become an Early Childhood Education teacher as he/she does not only teach the children but also have to manage and pratise a lot of educational activities and to become the children’s parent at school careing them with love. However, this article observes that the existing efforts to improve the Early Childhood Education teachers’s ]competences have not met the demanded qualification. It is suggested some improvement should be done in the the Early Childhood Education teachers’ education and training.

Abstract

In general, there are several problems in the practice of functional literacy instruction. In the independent business literacy instruction at Community Learning Activity Center, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, verbal method is the only method used and not enriched with other methods making the learners bored and not motivated to learn. To solve this problem, this research implemented problem possing method at the Center as from January through April 2012. This method enables the learner to identify and formulate problems and search for the alternative solutions. This research employed pra-experiment with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design approach. The research findings indicated problem possing method successfuly incrcreased the learners’s motivation and the learning outcome could improve the learners’ aditional income and family welfare.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to obtain empirical information on improving intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence with project approach instruction particularly for Kindergarten children of B group. The research was conducted at Taman Tumbuh Kembang Anak Ceria, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Jakarta, as from November 2008 through February 2009, employing action research method in two cycles. After comparing and analyzing the results of cycles I and II, the research concluded there is significant improvement of intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence with project approach instruction, achieved by the kindergarten children in TTKA Ceria.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe woman empowerment and gender equalization through community education service at Community Learning Activity Center in Jakarta. The research which was conducted as from Agust through December 2012 used survey method with descriptive questionnaire and the data were analyzed descriptively . The findings showed (1) the education community service program mostly undertaken by the respondents (61.4%) is gender equalization, and the female respondents of the research is 75.8%, (2) Woman empowerment and gender equalization through community education service is 61.5%. The woman empowerment and gender equalization is regarded as very strategic by integrating various programs designed by the government known as life skills to create good, intelligent, and independent human resources.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine: (1) the condition of education practice, and (2) the condition of Nationality Insights of learners / students in the border area. The first aim is intended to describe the condition of education in the border area which is consists of the aspects of student input, infrastructure, human resource, education financing, curriculum, and learning outcomes. The study also attempts to analyze the effect of 5 aspects including students learning outcomes. The second one is intended to describe the condition of nationalism insight, then propose alternative ideas related to the effort of instilling and establishing the concept of nationalism to learners / students in the border area. The study obtained that the conditions of education and the nationalism insight of learners / students classified as inadequate, low, or poor. On that basis, there are some suggestions for improvement, namely: it is required to improve all aspects of education in the border area, related to the construction of school buildings, provision of learning facilities, fulfillment of textbooks, teachers’ abilities and skills, to build a residence (mess / home office) for educators and non-educator staff. Specifically in the establishment of nationalism insight of learners / students, it is required a deployment and expansion of the concept of nationalism education more intensively through intra-and extracurricular activities, along with the need to increase the role of local government, school principals, teachers, and supervisor as an agent or mediator of Nationality Insights.

Abstract

Homeschooling is a family-based school to provide specific education but referring to national education curriculum. Homeschooling becomes an effective choice in the failure of formal school to produce qualified graduates. Having critically discussing homeschooling in a number of aspects, this article concludes (1) home schooling can be organized as a pure homeschooling, a homeschooling model which independently develop and implement curriculum without others’ assistance; instructional achievement of pure homeschooling is equalization program and (2) homeschooling with partnership which maintains cooperation with formal school in planning and implementing instruction, developing curriculum, and evaluation. The students of homeschooling with partnership follow all processes learning evaluation in mid and final semester. Homeschooling can be organized by any community or family and protected by law. It is a right choice for the children to create qualified graduates under supervision and abundant love of the family.
