Abstract

The purposes of this research were do describe the process of character building through life skill simulation and to develop the children’s character through life skill simulation. This action research was conducted in three early childhood education institutions for six months started from March through July 2013. The researcher did the research in collaboration with the local teachers to assess, plan, implement, observe, and do reflection. T test indicated a significant difference between the character development degree before and after the simulation. The hindrances in developing the character through life skill simulation are the children’s shy feeling and low self-confidence as well as the teachers’ limitation in designing the simple, interesting, and easy simulation scenario.

Abstract

The existing life skill education program is not effective to reduce community poverty as the program just focus on producing more community hardskills than community softskills. This research aimed to create a model of entrepreneurship based 4-H lifeskills to decrease rural poverty. This research was conducted as from May through November 2013, in three regions of Gunung Kidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The data were collected by interview, documentation, observation and questionaire then analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. Research result shows: (1) most of the target research group members have dificulties in implementing several skills they obtained in the previous training; (2) the 4-H lifeskills model designed on the basis of empirical community condition is able to optimalize the use of the target group member resources; and (3) the model testing shows all of the three target groups have increasing mean of 4-H lifeskills perception. It means the model 4-H developed by researcher are effective.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to answer the problem of how to improve the social skills of children aged 4-5 years through group -based manipulative motion activity. The research was carried out in the children group of 4-5 years old at The Kindergarten of IPEKA Sunter, North Jakarta as from March through May 2011. The research method used an action research approach through cycles: initial assessment planning, action, observation and reflection, the research carried out in 2 cycles, data collected by the instrument type observation, interviews and documents,with mixmethod data analysis, and data validity by triangulation methods and sources. The results of data analysis show an overall group -based manipulative movement has increased the social skills of children aged 4-5 years was 76.77 % , makes no difference that drives the improvement of learning outcomes is through manipulative motion activity -based group has given children the opportunity to interact intensively, fun atmosphere, providing the freedom of choice of activity , active child, role sharing, collaboration, and empathy. The implication of this study is if the activity group -based manipulative movement properly made and programmed it will have a positive impact on the development potential of the socialization of children.

Abstract

This research aims to know the pattern of parenting to social child ability of age 6-7 year at SDN Menteng 02 Pagi Jakarta Pusat. Research method used by Ex Post Facto. Technique of Intake sample is cluster random sampling with the amount sample is 46 child, then conducted spreading quesioner to determine the pattern group of the autoritary and democratic parent. Technique analyze the data used to test the hypothesis is uji-t after beforehand conducted by a prerequisite test that is test the normalitas. Result of examination of normalitas data use the test Liliefors of group A that is Lacount 0,113 < Ltabel 0,173 and group B by Lacount 0,065 < Ltabel 0,173 meaning data have normal distribution. Hypothesis examination use the uji-t of level signifikansi α = 0,05 obtained tacount =94,8 bigger than ttabel = 1,68, this means hypothesis of zero (Ho) refused, so that mean hypothesis alternative (ha) it’s accepted that pattern of parenting have an effect on to social child ability. Matter of this means social ability of child is higher with the democratic parent than the autoritary parent. Result of research show there are influence which are positive significant between pattern of parenting to social child ability, where social ability of child is higher with the democratic parent than the autoritary parent. Implication from this research that pattern of the democratic parent can develop the social ability of high child as tool interaction with the area. Parent can give correct of take care so that the social ability of child is advance.

Abstract

The Community Learning Center (CLC) as an educational institution to implement Package A Program is assigned to produce the graduates having equivalent competence as Junior High School does. Besides, the learners are also expected to be able to meet their needs and solve their problems. CLC has to develop the existing curriculum to complete its tasks as expected. This research is intended to know the curriculum at CLC of Tunas Bangsa, Probolinggo District, East Java, and how it develops and implements the curriculum. The research conducted as from April through July 2010, reviewed the existing curriculum using qualitative method and then developed the curriculum on the basis of local needs and potentials. The result of the study is an integrated curriculum to be used by tutors and will encourage them to improve theircompetence.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to discover how the equivalency educational program of B package to support the the nine years compulsory educational program in Gorontalo District. The research conducted as from April 2011 through February 2012, used phenomenology approach and design multi cases. The data were collected using deep interview, participation observation, and documentation study and analysed employing case individual analysis and analysis multy cases. The result of this research is related to the program content, learning and teaching process, program structure, and learning resources.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of functional literacy education towards the professional actuality of the community members in Kayumerah village, Lomboto Subdistrict, Gorontalo District. The research conducted as from April through June 2013, collected data by interviewing 20 resource persons with various professional backgrounds. The data were analysed qualitatively and concluded that the participants of functional literacy education are motivated to complete the program and the result has significant effect to do their jobs.

Abstract

In the pluralistic society, the insight of multiculturalism is essential in creating peaceful life of the society. This article discusses how education plays in building mutlicultural character among the society members. If the children learn and understand multiculturalism at their early age, they will be tolerant of the differences. Having reviewing the existing literature critically, this article concludes that the institution of early childhood education has a strategic role in multicultural education. The early childhood education institution should design and develop multicultural learning environment in growing their appriciation of multiculturalism. The teachers are encouraged to work together with the parents, society members, and nongoverment organizations to meet the multicultural needs of the children.

Abstract

Playing games is a part of the children’s life. In playing games the children are exploring and understanding their world. This article discusses how playing games can be used in children’s education. The children can play anywhere and anytime they want. The context, place, and time will determine the forms, activities, and game content. In playing games, the children plan, concentrate on doing certain tasks, solve problems, and express their ideas. This article concludes that playing games can be designed and used as a strategy of the children self development. Learning activities to be done by the children are integrated in playing activities. These activities facilitate the children to gain new knowledge and experience.

Abstract

The golden age of children aged 0 to 8 years is a phase in which children begin to know the world and will determine how it will grow, develop, live and move on through life. This step of life will take place only once in human life, as well as the growth rate of rapid growth to reach about 50 % the capacity of the human intellect has occurred when the age of 4 years, 80 % occurred when the age of 8, and 100 % when the child reaches the age of 8-18 years, means such a vulnerable age in the elementary age child development. One of the things that must be understood for the development of early childhood literacy is the ability of information that must be developed early on, it can help children to have the skills and ability to identify, locate, evaluate, organize and effectively create new knowledge, use it and communicate it in a series of problem solving at hand. This paper describes the importance of information literacy as an initial stage for the child to progress in his new knowledge, the organization of early childhood education by looking at the quality and the added ability to make information literacy prior knowledge of the child so that the child develops to become intelligent, wise and noble.
