Abstract

Penelitian    ini    bertujuan    untuk:    (1)    mengidentifikasi    dan   menganalisis    kompetensi-kompetensi    dan    topik-topik    yang   harus    dicapai    oleh    mahasiswa    dalam    pembelajaran    English for FB Service yang    mencakup    mengembangkan    tema    dan   subtema    yang    dapat    dimasukkan    ke    dalam    bahan    ajar;   dan    mengembangkan    jenis    dan    bentuk    asesmen    yang   dapat    digunakan    untuk    mengukur    ketercapaian    masingmasing   kompetensi    yang    telah    dirumuskan;    (2)    mendesain    prototype bahan ajar berbasis e-learning untuk mata kuliah English for FB Service;   dan    (3)    mengetahui    kualitas/validitas    bahan    ajar    yang   dikembangkan.    Desain    utama    dari    penelitian    ini    adalah   penelitian    dan    pengembangan    (Research and Development). Pentingnya    dan    keutamaan    dari    penelitian    ini,    yaitu    upaya   dalam    meningkatkan    pemahaman    mahasiswa dalam mata kuliah English for FB Service,    pengembangan    kurikulum    dan    material development, dan    kontribusi    dalam    pengembangan    e-learning   dalam    pembelajaran.    Data    penelitian    dianalisis    secara   kualitatif.    Hasil    penelitian    menunjukkan    bahwa    ada    13   kompetensi    yang    harus    dikuasai    mahasiswa    dalam   pembelajaran    English for FB Service    dan    13    topik-topik    yang   dikembangkan.    Uji    validasi    produk    menunjukkan    tingkat   validasi    dalam    kategori    sangat    tinggi    yang    berarti    bahwa   produk    penelitian    ini    sudah    siap    dipakai.    Kata kunci: bahan ajar, English for FB Service, e-learning

Abstract

The design of this study was a classroom action research design that was done by using two cycles. This study is aimed to find out the appropriate learning steps in the problem based learning method that can improve the creativity in writing speech text of the 3rd semester students in Indonesian Language Education Department. The subject of this study were the 3rd semester students in Indonesian Language Education Department. The data of this study were collected by using three instruments, they are observation, interview, and questionnaire. Besides, the result of this study are the effective learning steps related with the creativity in writing a speech text. Not only to improve the creativity in writing speech text for the college students, the appropriate learning steps in problem based learning method can also improve the learning activity of college students in the classroom. That improvement was proven by their responses which show that they are agree with the application of the problem based learning method. Thus, this study suggested the other researchers that observe this kind of topic to be able to research this kind of study from the other aspects.

Abstract

Need analysis is conducted to get the data about the Balinese local culture that could be accommodated in the development of supplementary instructional devices for teaching English in Class VII in the form of material (textbooks), electronic media, and assessment instrument. The data is collected through documents study, questionnaires, and interviews by involving English teachers and seventh grade students from nine secondary schools in the District of Buleleng shows that supplementary instructional devices which contain of Balinese local cultural need to be developed. The panel analysis which involved the expert of Balinese local culture shows the findings that there are some local culture such as brahman, jemet, brahmacari, maître, lascarya,  segilik seguluk,  menyama braya, selulung sebayantaka, pasidikaran, jengah, tri kaya parisudha, jemet, swadharma (catur asrama), tat twam asi, rwa bhineda, menyama braya, tri hita karana, de koh ngomong, tri hita karana, lascarya, satya laksana,  kesenian bali, pramana, jele melah wenang sambat, madue idep, maitri, karuna, dan bani meli bani ngadep could be accommodated to develop the products and they are expected to be able to support the development of national character building, such as religious, discipline, curiousity, nationalism, hard work, responsibility, social care, self confident, logical thought, critical thinking, creative, innovative, love reading, and independent. Key words: assessment, local culture, instructional material, electronic media, nation character build-       ing, instructional devices ABSTRAK  Dalam rangka pengembangan suplemen perangkat pembelajaran mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris Kelas VII dalam bentuk materi (buku teks), media elektronik, dan perangkat asesmen yang meng-akomodasi budaya lokal Bali untuk menunjang pengembangan karakter bangsa dilaksanakan analisis kebutuhan dengan melakukan analisis dokumen, wawancara, pengisian angket dan panel analisis. Data dikumpulkan dengan melibatkan guru Bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas VII dari 9 SMP di Kecamatan Buleleng serta pakar di bidang budaya lokal Bali. Berdasarkan panel analisis ditemukan budaya lokal seperti brahman, jemet, brahmacari, maître, lascarya,  segilik seguluk,  menyama braya, selulung sebayantaka, pasidikaran, jengah, tri kaya parisudha, jemet, swadharma (catur asrama), tat twam asi, rwa bhineda, menyama braya, tri hita karana, de koh ngomong, tri hita karana, lascarya, satya laksana,  kesenian bali, pramana, jele melah wenang sambat, madue idep, maitri, karuna, dan bani meli bani ngadep dapat diakomodasikan dalam pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran. Pengakomodasian tersebut diharapkan akan dapat mengembangkan karakter siswa seperti religius, disiplin, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, kerja keras, tanggung jawab, cinta damai, jujur, toleransi, kerja sama, bersahabat/komunikatif, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, percaya diri, berpikir logis, kritis, kreatif, dan inovatif, gemar membaca, mandiri, kerja keras, menghargai prestasi, dan patriotik. Kata kunci: asesmen, budaya lokal, materi ajar,  media elektronik, pengembangan karakter bangsa,         perangkat pembelajaran

Abstract

A good literary work is certainly timeless. When tsunami struck Japan, two poems and a song were continuously broadcasted on the television. The poems: Ame ni mo Makezu and Kodamadeshouka and the song: Ue o Muite Aruk? were written long before the disaster. These works were able to motivate the Japanese people to unite and bounce back in facing the disaster. The author uses a liberal-humanist approach and literary sociology in analyzing the three factors. Based on the results, it is known that through liberal humanism the three literary works are indeed a good literary work since they have eternal significance. The repeated words are an emphasis that the Japanese people would not give up. While literary sociology reveals that when they were first written, these three works also served as a source of motivation to the people who were in the midsts of troubles. Since they were first written until today, especially when the tsunami struct, these three works continuously exist to motivate the Japanese people. Abstract

Political rhetoric tends to have certain political motives and goals. These political goals are under the study of the axiological domain of language philosophy. Related to the phenomenon of democracy in Indonesia, Joko Widodo as one of the president candidates owned a strategy of political rhetoric. The results of the study on the political rhetoric of the speech delivered by Jokowi in Deklarasi Pemilu Berintegritas dan Damai [Declaration of Honest and Peaceful Presidential Election] on June 3, 2014 suggested that from axiological point of view, Jokowi?s speech led to public image creation, formation of general opinion, and persuasive-participant politics.Key words: political rhetoric, axiology

Abstract

In Japanese language, there are various greeting expressions according to the situation or season. Japanese people greet each other in many different ways depending on the relationship you have with the person you are greeting. Japanese can be roughly separated into three levels of politeness; casual, polite, and honorific/humble. Social status of speaker and listener should be considered. Japanese expressions are sometimes have difficulty to find a equivalent into Indonesian language. Therefore, to avoid language of mistakes , it is necessary to know how to use the Japanese expression correctly especially to Japanese learners. This research is the analysis of how to say greeting, thank you, apology expressions in Japanese and how the meaning of an expression of Japanese Language in the novel Norwey no Mori by Haruki Murakami. The method that used in this research is descriptive method. In analyzed form and the meaning of Japanese expressions, writer used Pateda theory (2001) and based on the concept of Edizal (2001), which analyzed how to equivalent the meaning of Japanese expression into Indonesian Language. The research result in novel Norwey no Mori by Haruki Murakami shows the usage of greeting or daily Japanese expressions are Chotto, Anata, Watashi, Iie (iya/uun), Wakaru dan wakaranai, Taihen, Anou, Sukoshi, Sayounara, Moshimoshi, Okagede, Kekkou. And the expressions for saying thank you and apology are Daijoubu, Arigatou, Gomennasai, Doumo. The data are then analyzed how to equivalent the meaning of Japanese expressions into Indonesian language based on formal, informal situation and Japanese cultural. Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas tentang pelestarian kearifan lokal Bali melalui konservasi naskah lon-tar, dimana naskah lontar merupakan salah satu warisan budaya yang patut dilestarikan keberadaannya sehingga nantinya dapat dinikmati oleh generasi yang akan datang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah me-nyelamatkan dan melestarikan naskah-naskah lontar Bali dalam bentuk konservasi naskah lontar. Peneli-tian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik observasi. Adapun proses pelestarian naskah lon-tar dapat dilakukan dengan menyelamatkan sumber data kearifan lokal yang terekam dalam manuskrip (tulisan tangan) pada lontar dengan cara membersihkan naskah lontar serta menyusunnya menjadi sat-uan yang utuh serta menginventarisasi pengetahuan kearifan lokal yang tersaji pada manuskrip, dimana naskah-naskah lontar yang telah dikonservasi diklasifikasikan menjadi kelompok weda, agama, wariga, itihasa, babad serta tantri. Mengelompokkan jenis kearifan lokal Bali yang tersaji dalam naskah lontar menurut tujuh unsur kebudayaan yaitu bahasa, sistem pengetahuan, sistem kemasyarakatan/ organisasi sosial, sistem peralatan hidup dan teknologi, sistem mata pencarian hidup, sistem religi dan kesenian.

Abstract

This study was conducted as an attempt to investigate in what step of scientific approach theteachers most frequently use translation in English Language Teaching as well as to find out the teachers?reasons toward the use of translation in English Language Teaching based on scientific approach atSMP Negeri 4 Singaraja and SMP Negeri 5 Singaraja. It was conducted in qualitative research design.There were two teachers chosen as the subjects of study. The data were collected through audio recordingthe teaching and learning process and interviewing the subjects of study, while the techniques ofanalyzing data were done descriptively following the four processes according to the theory of Miles &Huberman (1984), namely: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Theresults of analysis indicated that the teachers most frequently used translation in exploring step of scientificapproach. In addition, there were seven teachers? reasons found in relation to the use of translationin the classroom, namely to help the students? difficulty in: (1) understanding the instruction given bythe teacher, (2) understanding the English vocabulary, (3) asking something in English, (4) understandingthe tenses or grammar, (5) understanding the material deeply, (6) doing the task, and (7) presentingtheir work. The related parties interested in the same area of the research should give deeper concern indoing wider range of aspects involved in further study.Keywords : Translation, the Use of L1 in ELT, Scientific Approach
