The KALAM Journal is a scientific journal published by Lembaga Studi Agama dan Masyarakat Aceh (LSAMA) since 2013. This journal focuses on Acehnese Islamic and social studies that encompass religious, educational, political, and social thinking. This journal aims to enrich, deepen and also develop the study of Islamic and social community in Aceh. The journal was established and initiated by a group of experts in education, politics, and social religion. This journal is published biannually March and October.

Abstract

Kehidupan masyarakat Aceh erat kaitannya dengan lembaga-lembaga sosial dan keagamaan, antara lain: meunasah, masjid, dayah, madrasah, dan kantor urusan agama. Hubungan antara masyarakat dengan lembaga-lembaga tersebut adalah karena sifat religius dan fanatik dalam beragama. Meskipun kadang-kadang pengamalan ajaran agama jarang dilaksanakan secara utuh dan disiplin oleh sebagian masyarakat, karena lemah keimanan dan ketaqwaan, rasa simpati terhadap agama sangat menonjol. Semua lembaga sosial dan keagamaan tersebut merupakan pusat perkumpulan anggota masyarakat meskipun secara umum peranan dan fungsinya berbeda antara satu dengan yang lain; namun tujuan akhir adalah sama, yakni sebagai wadah pemersatu. Para ulama Aceh dalam rentang waktu kurang lebih tujuh abad tergolong produktif dalam melahirkan karya-karya Melayu dalam berbagai bidang keilmuan, termasuk ilmu tauhid, fiqh, tasawuf, tafsir, ilmu hadits, ilmu falak, sastra dan kisah-kisah masa lalu. Produktivitas kitab-kitab Melayu menemukan momentumnya pada abad ke-16 sampai abad ke-19. Pada abad-abad ini, koneksi ulama-ulama Aceh dengan dunia luar begitu aktif dan intensif sehingga terjadi transmisi ilmu di kalangan para ulama antar benua, terutama kawasan India, Persia,  Arab dan Nusantara.

Abstract

Western democracy has ruined the eastern world, especially the Islamic world. For that Muslims should teach the Western people about the meaning of democracy. Khomeni is a the father of Iran's revolution of fundamentalism, it did not escape the thinking pattern influenced by mystics, philosophy and tasawuf based on the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith. The concept of a Government that demanded the Muslims to plunge into the political scene to direct the life of the Islamic community in line with the laws of God, both in terms of relating to the Government and the community. Khomeini offered a new model of democracy which is based on the teachings of Islam with the mention "genuine democracy". Therefore the prerequirement to be a leader should be a Muslim. The will of the people should be in line with the will of God. And alignment of the will are guarded and kept with the supervisory mechanism of the al-faqih over Government concept of Imamate in Shi'a teachings.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan hubungan dari kerangka etik dalam berfatwa yang digagas oleh Khaled M. Abou El Fadl dengan pendekatan hermeneutika yang ditawarkannya. Tujuannya adalah untuk melihat pemikiran hukum Islam Abou El Fadl terutama dalam upayanya mengarahkan fikih yang bersifat otoriter menuju otoritatif, sehingga pemaknaan baru di dalam interpretasi hukum lebih humanis dan tidak terjebak pada otoritarianisme pembaca. Kerangka etik yang dikemukakan oleh Abou El Fadl ini merupakan sebuah modifikasi dan pengembangan kerangka etik yang dibuat oleh ulama salaf di dalam adāb al iftā’ yang lebih mengedepankan kualitas keilmuan dan kematangan kepribadian, bukan kepada prasyarat etika yang harus selalu dijaga oleh seorang mufti. Maka dalam hal ini, Abou El Fadl menetapkan lima prasyarat etika dalam berfatwa, yaitu kejujuran, kesungguhan, keseluruhan, rasionalitas dan pengendalian diri. Dari kelima prasyarat ini, seorang wakil Tuhan atau pembaca (reader) harus memiliki kewaspadaan untuk menghindari penyimpangan atas peran Tuhan atau pengarang (author) yang diwakili oleh teks (text). Dengan demikian, seorang pembaca harus mengenal batasan peran yang menjadi haknya, sehingga hasil pembacaan pun lebih otoritatif dan benar-benar mewakili suara Tuhan.

Abstract

Dayah (Islamic Traditional Boarding School) is a non-formal educational institution in which the system is highly reliant on the leader of Dayah. On the other hand, a university is a formal education whose system is administered nationally under the Ministry of RISTEK DIKTI. Along with  the advancement of the era, some students of the salafiyah Islamic traditional boarding school have shown their motivation to pursue their study at highereducation level to acquire insights  and experiences in order to keep up with the development. The problem in this study isstudent yet his education to college, it is often  assumed to be a marginalized society and it tends to be apthatic about the development of scieace and technology so that it causes than not to be able to compete globally because it does not posses enongh skilly in the field of science and technology. However, recently more students are able to continue their study at universities . This study look at: 1. The motivation of students of salafiyah traditional boarding schools of Aceh Selatan to continue their education at universities. 2. The perception of the students of salafiyah traditional boarding schools of Aceh Selatan towards universities. 3. The enabling factors and constraining factors confronting the students of salafiyah boarding school of Aceh Selatan in the pursue of their further study at universities. The aim of this research is to highlight the motivation of the students of the boarding school in terms of continuing their study at universities. To shed light on the perception of the students towards universities and to delineate the motivation and challenges of the students of salafiyah traditional boarding schools of Aceh Selatan to continue their study at universities.This study anchors a qualitative method with an analytical and descriptive approach. The primary data is directly acquired from the site of this study through  interviews. The secondary data is gatlered from the documentation as well as formal archives. Observation depth–interviews and documentation are applied as data collection technigues. The finding of this study is that the motivation  of the students of salafiyah traditional boarding school to continue their education at universities is considerably enthusiastic because the education system of the  universities is able to widen the horizon of the students on the part of insights or science due to the demand of the change of the era. In addition, there are universities which provide scholarships to prestigious students. The motivation of the students to continue their study at universities is also influencedby the fact that a lot of the people in their areas work for the government office as civil servants. They assumed that the vocational opportunity and the people with secured income must love university credentials. The supports of teachers, parents and leaders of boarding schools pose marvelous motivation for them to continue their education. The perception of the students at salafiyah traditional boarding schools of Aceh Selatan towards universities may be classified as both  positive and negative. The students who had a wide horizon of thoughts view the universities as the institutions of higher education which are needed by the society to educate the next generations to be intelligent intellectually and spiritually. On the onther hand, the students of salafiyah boarding school who narrow minded thoughts take a negative attitude to wards universities. They argue that universities have not yet educated the next generations with  moral values and pious personality. There are several factors which enable and constrain the students to continue their education at universities. Some of the enabling factors are that there are supports and recommendations from the leader of the boarding school to continue their study at universities. The support of the parents pose the material support which is also classified  as the enabling factor for the students to continue their study at universities. The  containing factors of the students to continue their study at universities are an economic problem, longevity and the thoughts of the students themselves which inhibit the students to think and induce the  development of their future interest.

This articles explores the thought of Abdullahi Ahmed an-Na'im's about the relation of Islam and the state, focusing on the concept of secularism. This theme has become an interesting discourse studied by academics including an-Na'im. However, in addressing the issue of secularism, an-Na'im has different methods and approaches with previous Islamic thinkers both from the traditionalists even from secular circles though. For an-na'im, secularism is an important concept as a mediation space between religion and state

Abstract

Sumber daya manusia merupakan kunci sukses sebuah organisasi atau lembaga yang merupakan sebagai insiator dan agen perubahan terus-menerus, pembentuk proses serta budaya yang secara bersama meningkatkan kemampuan organisasi atau lembaga. Sumber daya manusia yang ada dalam tiap-tiap organisasi atau lembaga memiliki keanekaragaman yang cukup tinggi. Dengan perbedaan (diversity) yang cukup besar tersebut berarti kemampuan sebagai ‘agent of change’ juga akan berbeda-beda. Disinilah dituntut supaya pemimpin mampu menggerakkan sumber daya manusia yang ada untuk mencapai tujuan dari organisasi atau lembaga.

Abstract

Memahami kesinambungan dan kesamaaan agama-agama sebagai upaya membangun sikap beragama inklusif menjadi tema penting dalam kajian multikulturalisme beragama. Kesinambungan agama-agama Semawi; Yahudi, Kristen dan Islam dapat dilihat dari dialektikanya dengan konteks peradaban setiap kaum secara berkelanjutan sebagai respon terhadap realitas sosio-kultural yang terjadi pada masyarakat dimana agama itu diturunkan. Semua agama Samawi pada awalnya mengakui ajaran yang sama yaitu; penyerahan diri kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, kitab suci yang bersumber dari pemberi wahyu yang sama, mengajarkan ajaran moral amal ma’ruf bagi kebaikan manusia, dan memiliki ritual ibadah sebagai media penyembahan pada Tuhan Yang Esa. Semua ajaran wahyu tersebut kemudian didistorsi oleh para menganut setelah selesainya misi kerasulan setiap periode. Islam mengakui kebenaran ajaran kitab suci agama Yahudi dan Kristen yang termaktub dalam al-Kitab yang dapat dijadikan pijakan membangun kemanusiaan universal. Titik temu agama-agama Semit membuka ruang bagi dialog lintas agama bagi kedamaian bersama dengan menganut prinsip-prinsip kebenaran universal dan tolaransi agama yang meliputi; kebebasan menjalankan keyakinan beragama, saling menghormati tempat ibadah agama yang berbeda, tidak anarkis dalam menyelesaikan konflik antar agama, melindungi yang minoritas seperti yang dibuktikan oleh berbagai fakta historis multikulturalisme Islam sehingga tercipta harmoni beragama di tengah masyarakat Indonesia yang pluralistik.

Abstract

The Quran does not explain explicitly about the form of the Islamic State. This reality has created dynamics in view of some Muslim scholars about the concept of an Islamic State. By implication, the Islamic State of discourse continues to escalate the post-war collapse of the caliphate system of Ottoman Turkey (1924 M). The Muslim scholars who actively discuss the concept of the Islamic States were Fazlurrahman, Taha Husayn, Muhammad Natsir, and Ali Hasjmy. This thesis focus on the political thought of Ali Hasjmy, values that are contained in the concept of an Islamic State, according to Ali Hasjmy, and epistemology of Islamic State formation built by Ali Hasjmy. Some of the above problems will be examined by using the integration theory of the Islamic State developed by several Muslim scholars. The integration theory is applied in qualitative research methods with the approach of critical study on some works of Ali Hasjmy. The result of this research found that the style of political thought of Ali Hasjmy is a theological-interconnected meaning Islamic countries contain the value of religious, economic, political and humanitarian. The Islamic State’s epistemology built by Ali Hasjmy are based on principles of Ukhuwah Islamiyah. Ali Hasjmy indirectly confirmed that the existence of the Islamic State has no deadline, so that Islamic countries can only be understood through the mind that is universal. Moreover, the conception of the Islamic State that was initiated by Ali Hasjmy meet elements of epistemology and critical to consider in the process of implementation of Islamic countries at the international level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil dari penanaman nilai-nilai multikultural melalui Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMK 1 Gerung, Penelitian ini juga mengkaji tiga permasalahan utama yaitu: Nilai-nilai multikultural  yang terdapat dalam pembelajaran PAI di SMKN 1 Gerung;  Proses  penanaman  nilai  multikultural dalam pembelajaran PAI di SMKN 1 Gerung; Metode pembinaan karakter melalui nilai multikulturalal dalam pembelajaran PAI di SMKN 1 Gerung. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai multikultural yang terdapat dalam buku mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam meliputi nilai toleransi, nilai kesamaan, nilai persatuan, nilai kekerabatan, dan nilai keadilan. Penanaman nilai-nilai multikultural dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di   SMKN 1 Gerung menggunakan   dua   metode   yaitu   metode keteladanan dan metode pembiasaan. Dampak penanaman nilai-nilai multikultural terhadap siswa yaitu tumbuhnya sikap saling toleran, menghormati, menerima pendapat orang lain, saling bekerjasama, tidak  bermusuhan, dan tidak adanya konflik karena perbedaan budaya, suku, bahasa, adat istiadat, dan agama.

Abstract

Islam sebagai rahmatan li al-alamin mengatur umatnya dalam kehidupan di dunia maupun di akhirat. Islam membawa kemaslahatan manusia baik yang bersifat primer, sekunder, dan komplementer. Kehidupan beragama dalam masyarakat multikultural memerlukan pemahaman secara komprehensif terhadap nilai-nilai dan norma-norma agama agar dapat menciptakan kedamaian dan harmonis. Nilai-nilai universal dalam kehidupan manusia perlu ditumbuhkembangkan dengan baik. Sikap inklusif dibangun atas dasar nilai-nilai saling mengenal, toleransi, tolong-menolong, moderat, dan adil.
