Abstract

This article describes the implementation of the Batagak Urang Tuo Nagari ceremony. Batagak Urang Tuo Nagari is one of the most important ceremonies in the traditional order in the Balai Baru because traditional communities are beginning to be aware of the importance of the role of Urang Tuo Nagari in society and in other areas of Minangkabau.In Batagak Urang Tuo Nagari the ninik mamak, bundo kanduang, cadiak pandai, and anak kemenakan still retain the important elements contained in the procedures for their implementation. Abstract

This article is a description of Batimbang Salah tradition in Nagari Salimpek Lembah Gumanti, Solok Regency. Batimbang Salah is a customary law procession carried out if there are people breaking adat. The aim is to provide punishment and provide a deterrent effect to the Salimpek community.The Batimbang Salah tradition is part of the application of customary law in the Minangkabau region, especially for the Salimpek community. This tradition is one form of tradition that is important to maintain. This Batimbang Salah tradition is still relevant to maintain its existence in the life of the Minangkabau people today.Keywords: batimbang salah, customary law, Minangkabau, Salimpek

Abstract

This article describes words that have changed the Minangkabau language vocabulary by Old Speakers and Young Speakers in Kanagarian Gunuang Rajo and the causes of these changes.The method used consists of three stages, the provision of data, the data analysis stage, and the stage of presenting the results of data analysis. The methods and techniques used in the data provision stage are competent methods and referring methods. In the skillful method used proficient techniques, fishing techniques, note-taking techniques, and recording techniques, while the listening method was used tapping technique, then continued with several techniques, namely SLC technique and SBLC technique. In data analysis used referential and translational matching methods with basic techniques, namely PUP techniques. The follow-up technique is the HBB technique.The results of data analysis and classification found two forms of changes in vocabulary usage in Kanagarian Gunuang Rajo, namely 1) Words that are lost or not used anymore caused by internal and external factors. Internal factors, namely: homonymic conflict. External factors, namely: social aspects, age, education and foreign languages, 2) The emergence of new vocabulary found only in the form of new words formed from outside Kanagarian Gunuang Rajo.Keywords: Change, vocabulary, factors, old speakers, speakers

Abstract

This article describes the use of metaphoric words of T-shirt design produced by the Kapuyuak and Konco Clothing stores. T-shirts in both stores contain many metaphors about the daily life of Minangkabau people. This study discusses metaphorical forms and functions in the product's design of those two shops. The theory used is the theory of the metaphor form proposed by Stephen Ullman and the theory of functions by Geoffrey Leech.The results show metaphorical forms in the T-shirts design produced by the Kapuyuak and Konco Clothing stores, which are 6 anthropomorphic metaphors, 4 animal metaphors, 7 metaphors from concrete to abstract, and 3 synaesthetic metaphors. Whereas, the functions found are 4 informational functions, 4 expressive functions, 1 directive function, 1 fatigue function, and 10 aesthetic functions.Keywords: metaphor, shirt design, metaphorical form, metaphorical function

Abstract

The extinction of regional languages is a phenomenon that needs to be examined and addressed seriously and wisely. Minangkabau language is also feared to be extinct. The Minangkabau language has undergone a change that occurs in the direction of reducing vocabulary. Classic vocabulary, for example, has been replaced by a new vocabulary and even completely disappeared.This study will specifically find out the kinds of Minangkabau classical texts originating from text edits. Data sources were obtained from the results of research on philology and folklore, namely the edits of manuscripts and folklore documentation. The Lexicon of Minangkabau classical texts in this paper are grouped into three groups, namely, nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Keywords: classical text, Minangkabau, vocabulary, manuscript
