Abstract

This study aims to look at the effect of the STAD type cooperative learning model on the mathematical representation ability of class VIII students of SMPN 2 Tambusai Utara. The research method used is quasi-experiment involving two classes, namely as a control class and an experimental class. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Tambusai Utara Academic Year 2018/2019 which involved classes VIII a and VIII b. The students' mathematical representation ability test instrument used 3 questions in the form of descriptions. Data analysis was performed using SPSS with Liliefors Test as data normality test, Fisher Test as Homogeneity test data and t-test for average similarity test. The results of the study revealed that there was an influence of the STAD type cooperative learning model on the mathematical representation ability of students, meaning that the value of the representation of the experimental class students was better than the value of the control class. The average obtained by the experimental class was 77.27, while for the average value of the control class was 67.74.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning process and improve mathematics learning outcomes for students of class VIII MTs YKWI Pekanbaru. This research is a classroom action research study consisting of two cycles. The subjects in this study were grade VIII MTs YKWI Pekanbaru, totaling 20 students. Observation and test sheets are used to collect data. The results of this study indicate that there is an improvement in the learning process and an increase in mathematics learning outcomes for students of class VIII MTs YKWI Pekanbaru on the subject matter of relations and functions. The improvement of mathematics learning outcomes of students increased from the basic score of 40% to the daily test I by 60% and to the daily test II by 70%. The conclusion of this study is the application of cooperative learning type Numbered Heads Together can improve the learning process and improve mathematics learning outcomes for students of class VIII MTK YKWI Pekanbaru on the subject matter of relations and functions.

Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived as a difficult subject, therefore students' interest in learning in mathematics is relatively low. This results in low student learning outcomes, whereas in mathematics there is an important ability possessed by students, namely mathematical reasoning abilities that enter into the High Order Thinking Skill, based on that the purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of learning interest on students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The method in this study is a correlational method to see the effect of a variable on other variables, with a population of eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Ngamprah with samples taken in one class. The instrument of this study was a 5-item test instrument to measure reasoning ability and a non-test questionnaire in the form of 40 statements used to measure interest in learning in mathematics. From the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive influence between learning interest with mathematical reasoning ability, and the correlation coefficient of 0.88, which means the relationship between interest in learning mathematics and mathematical reasoning ability is classified as very strong. Therefore, in bringing learning the teacher should make learning that can increase student interest in learning so that students' mathematical reasoning abilities increase

Abstract

One of the mathematical problems whose solution requires the problem solving ability is geometry. Van Hiele's Theory is a learning solution that can be applied to practice the problem solving ability of geometry. Van Hiele states that the 5 levels of geometry thinking are the stages of introduction, analysis, sequencing, deduction and accuracy. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the influence of Van Hiele's theory-based cooperative learning on the geometrical problem solving abilities of students of Mathematics Education at Pasir Pengaraian University on space geometry. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with the design of Two Group Posttest Only. The population in this study were students of mathematics education at the Pasir Pengaraian University. The technique used for sampling is saturated samples, namely fifth semester students taking three-dimentional geometry. The instrument used was a test of problem solving ability. Data analysis using t-test. The results showed that the acquisition value of sig 0.001 <0.05. Thus it can be concluded that there is an influence of Van Hiele's theory-based cooperative learning on the ability of problem solving geometry of students of Mathematics Education at Pasir Pengaraian University on space geometry.

Abstract

This research background was the low learning outcomes of students in grade 3 at SDN 009 Rambah Samo. The purpose of this study is to improve student mathematics learning outcomes through the application of Think Pair Share (TPS) learning. The type of research conducted is classroom action research. The study implemented in two cycles, with three meetings in each period. Classroom action research procedures carried out include planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The instrument used was a test of learning outcomes and an observation sheet of teacher and student activities. The results showed that the average student learning outcomes increased from 52.95 in the initial data to 69.86 in the first cycle with a percentage increase of 31.94% and 84.17 in the second cycle with an increase from cycle 1 of 20, 7%. Individual completeness obtained from the initial data up to cycle 2 was 43.47%, 65.21%, and 78.26%, respectively. So it can be concluded that the application of the TPS learning model can improve mathematics learning outcomes of students in grade 3 at SDN 009 Rambah Samo.

Abstract

The censored Hurdle Negative Binomial regression model is a method which can be used for response variables of count data with excess zero values. This model is an alternative solution to overcome over dispersion in Poisson regression due to many zero-value observations. This model uses a two-part approach, the first part is modeling the response variable which a zero value and the second part is modeling the response variable with a non-negative integer value. The type of censored used in this research is the right censored. This research will applied on the theory and empirical studies on the censored Hurdle Negative Binomial regression model. the results of the theory estimation of the parameters of the censored Hurdle Negative Binomial regression model using the maximum likelihood method are obtained implicit nonlinear equations, so the estimation of the model parameters using Newton Rapshon method. Censored Hurdle Negative Binomial regression model of diphtheria cases in Riau Province with the variables of basic immunization coverage, coverage of toddler health services and coverage of health facilities affect the number of diphtheria cases.
