Abstract

Research on some biological aspects of lambak pipih fish (Thynnichthys polylepis) was carried out in the Batanghari River, Jambi Province. Using the survey method, in March, May, August and October 2015. The station was determined by purposive random sampling which was divided into 3 regions: upstream in Mangunjaya and Puntikalo Villages, Tebo Regency, the middle in Penyengat Kecil and Kunangan Villages, Jambi Municipality and downstream in Sungai Kandis and Muara Sabak Villages. The size of the flat-rolled fish caught ranges from 7.2 cm in length and weighs 4.5 grams and 26 cm in weight, 162 grams. The largest length is between 10.1 - 15.0 cm totaling 55 heads, while the most weight is 1 - 30 grams totaling 52 heads. The relationship between long-weight flatfish follows the equation pattern: W = 0.013L2.901 with a value of b <3. So it can be said that flat-slawed fish have a negative allometric growth pattern. Its natural feed consists of macrophytes (water growths) as much as 49.9% as the main feed. Phytoplankton supplementary feed is 22.6% (Chlorophyceae 10.4%; Bacillariophyceae 8.1% and Cyanophyceae 4.1%, and detritus 17.4%. Additional feed is 0.8% Protozoa; 0.5% Rotifera and Crustaceae 0 , 4% and the unidentified part was 8.4%. Thus flat or motak fish were classified into groups of herbivorous fish or plant eaters.

Abstract

Microalgae are very potential to be developed as biofuel feedstocks when compared to food crops because they have several advantages such as rapid growth, high productivity, enabling the use of freshwater and seawater, and production costs are not too high. Spirulina platensis has a high nutrient content so it is used as a health food ingredient. Once the importance of the role of nutritional value of S. platensis for humans and some marine organisms, then the right culture medium to get the maximum nutritional content needs to be studied more deeply. This study aims to determine the effect of different doses of nutrition on the density of biomass cultivation of S. platensis microalgae with indoor and semi outdoor system. This research has been conducted from April to May 2018. The method by used the experimental method. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using simple linear regression equation. The results showed that the influence in the dose of nutris media guillard, S.platensis increased with the dose of nutrients as much as 0.60 ml either indoor or semi outdoor system. As for the amount of biomass density S. platensis in the semi-outdoor system the amount of biomass density is higher than the indoor system.

Abstract

The research was conducted from February 2016 to April 2017, aimed to determine the effect of adding different concentrations of detergent namely SURF on the growth of bacterial populations in the seawater column. This research used experimental method with Completely Randomized Design. Seawater samples were analyzed at Marine Microbiology Laboratory, Fisheries and Marine Faculty of Riau University. Based on the results of the study, from day 0 untill day 10 after given detergent with different concentrations, bacteria experienced a decreasing trend of growth, in day 15 untill day 20, the trend of bacterial growth contaminated by detergent with different concentration relatively increased to stagnant. Based on the result of this study the addition of different detergent concentration in each treatment affect the growth of heterotrophic bacteria population in the sea water, where the higher concentration of detergent added the lower the ability of bacteria to grow and the ability of heterotrophic bacteria to survive at different concentrations of detergent, it can be concluded that the ability of heterotrophic bacteria to grow from days 0 to 20 has decreased in each of its concentrations.

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) has been applied as probiotic mainly to prevent pathogens. This group of bacteria can be found in marine fish products including fermented, shrimp product, cincaluk. The objective of this research was to isolate LAB from cincaluk, and examined the activity against pathogen V. alginolyticus and A. hydrophila. The research was conducted on March-Juny, total of 12 isolates were obtained from cincaluk survey method. The result of research showed that all isolates round, creamy white, smooth-edged, raised surface, and the size is 1.0 to 3.0 mm. The physiological and biochemical test showed that get all isolates had a Gram-positive, catalase positive and are indole negative, 10 isolates were motile, as many as five isolates have citric positive, 10 isolates is Methyl Red (+), all isolates ferment sucrose and lactose, while only 9 isolates ferment glucose, and as much as 6 isolates that produce sulfide. All isolates were found to have inhibitory effects against bacteria V. alginolyticus and A. hydrophila. The highest antimicrobial activity is indicated by B isolates with an average diameter of 12.3 mm and inhibition zone antivibrio activity of 6.3 units. Isolates B with an average diameter of inhibition zone of 9.7 mm and 3.7 units antiaeromonas activity.

Abstract

Feed is one of the factors that affect the success of hatchery culture of mud crab (Scylla olivacea). The use of artificial feed in the form of microdiet can ensure availability, lower production costs and higher flexibility than natural feed. During this time the artificial feed used is a commercial feed, which is relatively expensive, therefore the need for research to produce artificial feed of good quality, with a cheap price.. The objective of this research is to determine the combination of raw material of artificial feed protein which produce dissolved protein content, protein hydrolysis degree and best protein content of feed. The experimental design used was completely randomized with eight treatments and three replications. The treatments were the use of various combinations of feed protein ingredients : A) 100% Artemia flour, B) 100% fish meal, C) 100% squid meal, D) 50% Artemia and 50% fish meals, E) 50% Artemia and 50% squid meals, F) 50% fish and 50% squid meals, G) 35% fish, 35% squid and 30% Artemia meals, H) commercial feed. The parameters used were dissolved protein content, protein hydrolysis degree and protein feed content. The results showed that the difference of feed protein raw materials had significant effect (p <0,05) on soluble protein content and feed protein hydrolysis degree. The highest content of soluble protein in in the diet with a protein raw material was squid meal, but not significantly different (P> 0,05) than Artemia meal and combination between 50% Artemia and 50% squid meals, but significantly different (P < 0.05) than other treatments. The highest degree of protein hydrolysis in the diet with a protein raw materials was Artemia meal, but not significantly different (P> 0.05) than in commercial feed as well as combination between Artemia and squid meal (P> 0.05), but significantly different (P <0, 05) compared to other treatments. Feed protein content according to the needs of mangrove crab larvae. Fat content with a protein raw materials was 100% artemia meal was higher than the need. Carbohydrate content with a protein raw materials were 100% artemia meal, a combination of 50% artemia meal and 50% squid meal and commercial feed according to the needs of mud crab larvae.
