Abstract

Nowadays, developing contraception methods were mostly addressed to women. The development of male contraception was still limited. There were condoms, vasectomies, and interrupted intercourse, which used in male contraception. The condom method and interrupted intercourse have a high failure rate and inconvenience in its use. The vasectomy method is invasive and expensive. The development of molecular-based contraceptive methods with minimal impacts on health is expected to be a good breakthrough in the context of population control and improving the quality of health. The study aims to summarize and analyze the early development of contraception until the invention of molecular contraception through immunologic, proteomic, and metabolomics science. This article review was done by studying literature in the PubMed Central (PMC), Springer, and Open Access ScienceDirect databases. The search was performed with the keywords "Contraception", "Molecular Contraception", "Male Contraception", and "Immunocontraception". Journal articles that fit the theme of the review are then reviewed by paraphrasing the core of the research. The conclusion drawn from the review is that male contraception using the molecular method is still being developed at a pre-clinical experimental stage using animal laboratory technique and in vitro technique. The key to the success of this molecular method is that the more specific the molecular target at male fertility levels, the better of contraceptive effect. The molecular- based contraception is expected to be a breakthrough in terms of population control that have more effective, safe, and comfortable, especially for male contraception

Abstract

People with severe mental illness have complex disabilities affecting mental functions, daily activities, and social life, thus they need help from others in carrying out daily functional activities. Optimizing the recovery of severe mental illness requires a holistic approach and integration between mental health services and supportive communities so that sufferers can interact with others, have a positive self-concept, and improve their well-being. This study aims to describe a community-based model of recovery for people with severe mental illness. Several literature studies were obtained from 50 reference sources through Science Direct, Google Scholar, Proquest Health and Medical Complete, Proquest Nursing, and Allied Health Sources from 2009 to 2019. Results explain that the community provides an adequate support system in improving the care of people with severe mental illness. Support systems in the community involve social and physical aspects as well as the economic infrastructure through employment opportunities or financial support and a decent living. The interaction between community members and people with severe mental illness could be a positive thing in strengthening the motivation of people with severe mental illness to recover and be able to do their activities independently. The recovery process of severe mental illness requires strong motivation and commitment from the sufferer, the family, all society members, community mental health service team, and related policymakers. It can be concluded that people with severe mental illness need support from various parties in terms of future life planning, identifying strengths and weaknesses that they have, and recognizing multiple obstacles and support so that they recover and live independently.

Abstract

Rice that is generally consumed by Indonesian people is that does not have important nutrient such as ?-carotene. Therefore, the way to supply ?-carotene requirement in staple foods can be done through ?-carotene biofortification by genetic engineering of the rice plant. PAC Nagdong/ IR36 is transgenic Golden Rice which can produce ?-carotene. The research aimed to determine some nutritional content of PAC Nagdong/ IR36 rice lines that include carbohydrate, amylose, amylopectin, protein, lipid, and ?-carotene content. Amylose was measured using the iodine colorimetric method, whereas the contents of amylopectin and carbohydrates were measured using the by difference method. Protein was measured using the Bradford method, lipid was measured using Proctor and Bowen method, while ?-carotene content was measured using the colorimetric method. PAC Nagdong/ IR36 rice lines had carbohydrate content between 85,06-90,16%, amylose 12,94%- 20,81%, amylopectin 69,35- 76,17%, protein 7,76-8,52 µg/µl, lipid 0,65-0,90%, and ?-carotene 231,61-920,52 µg/g. Carbohydrate, protein, and ?-carotene in PAC Nagdong/ IR36 were higher than TN1 rice variety (control). This indicated that PAC Nagdong/ IR36 provided better nutrition. Amylose content of Nagdong/ IR36 PAC rice was low, which donated its potential to produce fluffier rice whereas high ?-carotene content could be used as a source of ?-carotene that is useful in overcoming vitamin A deficiency and beneficial for health including in preventing degenerative diseases.

Abstract

Cigarettes are the biggest health problem around the world. Nicotine in cigarettes has been proved insulin receptor resistance and can reduce insulin secretion in pancreatic ? cells, which causes an increase in blood glucose levels. One of the efforts to reduce blood glucose levels is to consume vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is a prohormone that plays a role in metabolic functions in cells and repair functions of cells. Purpose: to know the effect of vitamin D3 toward glucose blood level of male Rattus norvegicus Wistar exposed by cigarette smoke. Methods: This research conducted with pure experimental pre- and post-test with control group design. The samples used were 24 male rats. The sample divided into four groups, including K1, K2, K3, and P1. K1, which is not exposed by cigarette smoke and not given of vitamin D3. K2 is a group exposed by cigarette smoke but not given vitamin D3. K3 is a group that is not exposed by cigarette smoke but given vitamin D3 a dose of 0.2 µgr /head. P1 is a group exposed by cigarette smoke and given a vitamin D3 dose of 0.2 µgr /head. Results: Paired T-test showed increased blood glucose levels that are meaningful (p<0,05) In groups K2 (p=0,018) and P1 (p=0,035). One-way Anova showed there were differences in blood glucose levels that are meaningful between groups (p=0,001). Abstract

The immunization program for infants aims to get every baby to get a complete basic immunization. Basic immunization status in children can be influenced by several factors related to community behavior towards immunization. The role of mothers in the immunization program is very important because in general, the parenting responsibility is given to parents, especially mothers. The Jelbuk and Klatakan health centers have the lowest complete basic immunization coverage in Jember in 2015 and 2016. The purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants of maternal behavior in basic immunization in children aged 12-23 months. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional research design. This research was conducted in the working area of ??the Health Centers in Jelbuk and Klatakan in August-September 2017. Data collected from 100 mothers who had children aged 12-23 months. The sampling method is cluster random sampling. The results of the study using logistic regression tests showed that the level of knowledge and attitudes affected the basic immunization status of children aged 12-23 months with p-values ??of 0.002 and 0,000, respectively. Knowledge and attitude of the mother are factors that can influence the completeness of basic immunization, therefore it is recommended to health workers to improve health promotion, especially about immunization so that basic immunization coverage can be increased and the risk of diseases that can be prevented by immunization can be reduced.

Abstract

Gout disease is a commonly affects men in aged 30-40 years old, while this disease occurred in women in aged 55-70. The lack of estrogen level is contributing to increase the incidence of gout disease in menopause woman. Menopausal women have two times higher risk of gout disease due to deficit role of estrogen in the removal of uric acid trough urine system. The decrease of estrogen hormone level affect the function of excretion system (Integument and kidney) and also digestive system. While the function of these systems decreased, the residual compound like purin could not be removed trough urine, feces, and sweat. The production of uric acid in human body were linear to the breakdown process of purin. The more purines broken down, the more uric acid is produced. One of the plants that can reduce the uric acid level is Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa). The anthocyanins pigment in the calyx of Rosella flower could produce flavonoid compound. The question research of this study is the administration of steeping rosella could reduce the uric acid level in menopause women. Objective: To determine the effect of rosella steeping on decreasing uric acid levels in menopausal women. Method: Pre-experimental with the design of one group pre-post-test have been done, the analysis is using the Wilcoxon test signed rank test. The analysis of results obtained by t-test Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001 which value <0.05 is significantly different. The Rosella steeping administration could affect the decrease of uric acid levels in menopausal women.

Abstract

Early Initiation Coverage (IMD) for Soppeng District based on survey data on nutritional status monitoring is still relatively low compared to the national target of 80%. So it is thought to have an impact on the prevalence of malnutrition by 22.6%, stunting 38.7%, skinny 7.7% and fat 4.5%. The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship between Early Breastfeeding Initiation and nutritional status of infants under two years at the Malaka community health centre, Lalabata District, Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This study used a survey method with a statistical analysis approach and  cross-sectional study design. The sample size in this study was 67 people which obtained  through simple random sampling. This research was conducted in the working area of ??the Malaka Health Center in Lapajung Sub-district, Lalabata District from April to June 2019. The data was processed by using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with a probability value of 95% in SPSS. The results of the analysis of nutritional status in infants under two years based on body weight according to the average age showed that 85.1% have good nutritional status, 10.4% less nutritional status and 4.5% over nutritional status. The nutritional status based on height according to the average age showed 65.7% had normal height, 19.4% short height and 7.5% poor height. Meanwhile, based on body weight according to a height, the result showed that  83.6% had normal weight, 11.9% under weight, and 3.0% overweight. From the results of the analysis it was found that there is no relationship between Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) and the nutritional status of infants under two years in the working area of ??the Malaka Puskesmas Lapajung Village. This happens because there are still many factors that affect nutritional status in addition to Early Breastfeeding Initiation. Therefore, it is better to conduct further research by adding research variables including sanitation and parenting.
