Abstract

Coconut is a multipurpose tree for people in the tropics. Almost all parts can be used such as leaves, fruit, stems, and roots. Besides having many benefits of coconut, it also produces waste from its fruit, namely coconut fiber. Coconut coir has a very high tannin content. In general, tannin compounds can be indicated as anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial. The purpose of this study was to formulate the anti-acne mask from coconut coir extract and to test its physical properties. This study uses an experimental research method, in which three mask formulas are made with variations in the concentration of active substances and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). In this study the active substance used was coconut coir extract. The formulas used are formulas A, B, and C with the concentration of active substances successively as follows: 1%, 2%, 4%. The results of research that have been carried out that the mask formula that has the best physical properties is formula B, because it fulfills the physical properties provisions of the peel off face mask including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, dispersal power, and drying time.

Abstract

Acne is one of the most common skin diseases that occur at all ages, especially in adolescents who are just experiencing puberty. One of the plants that has antibacterial properties is the leaves of suruhan. However untill now not found research of suruhan leaf used as an acne medicine. The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of suruhan leaf extracts on the growth of Propionibacterium acnes. The method used is disc diffusion by given 5 treatments starting with a concentration of 15%, 20%, 25%, positive control of clindamycin and negative control of aquadest.. The results obtained from leaf extracts were able to inhibit the growth of P. acnes bacteria in various concentrations. Suruhan leaf extracts at a concentration of 25% showed response resistance was greater than other concentrations. The one way Anova SPSS test showed p <0.05 which means that there were differences in the inhibitory concentration of various extracts on the growth of P. acnes that cause acne

Abstract

Noni juice can inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. Noni juice extraction needs concentration to extract so that the preparation is more stable in the storage process. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity and the amount of the minimum inhibitory concentration of noni juice extract from E. coli bacteria in vitro. This type of experimental research with a completely randomized one-way design. The extract was obtained by concentrating the Noni leaf extract. Extract quality control parameters include organoleptic, yield, drying shrinkage, and qualitative tests of flavonoid and anthraquinone compounds. Antibacterial activity test using the disc diffusion method with an extract concentration of 1.56%; 3.12%; 6.25%; 12.5%; and 25% with 3 replications. Positive control of amoxicillin and negative control of distilled water. Inhibition is known from the zone formed around the paper disc. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using Kruskall Wallis followed by Mann Whitney with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the variation in the concentration of the noni juice extract had a significant effect (p <0.05). The biggest inhibitory zone was seen at 25% concentration of 10.16 mm and included in the strong category. The minimum inhibitory power was produced at a concentration of 3.12% at 2.50 mm with a weak treatment category.

Abstract

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is one of the top 10 diseases in the Inpatient of. St. Elisabeth Hospital Semarang. The main cause of CHF is hypertension. CHF patients receive antihypertensive therapy to control their blood pressure. This study aims to determine the decrease in blood pressure of CHF patients and the suitability of blood pressure of CHF patients with their treatment targets according to the Eighth Joint National Committee (JNC VIII) at the Inpatient Installation of St. Elisabeth Hospital Semarang. This research is an observational descriptive study, using retrospective data. Data was taken from medical records of CHF patients in inpatients who received antihypertensive therapy for the period October - December 2017, 40 years or older, with or without concomitant diseases. Based on the results of tracing of medical records it is known that the number of CHF patients who met the inclusion criteria was 60 people, consisting of 30 male patients and 30 female patients. A total of 35 patients (58.33%) were aged over 60 years. A total of 19 patients had concomitant diabetes mellitus type 2 and / or chronic kidney failure. A total of 51 patients (85%) during hospitalization experienced an average reduction in systolic BP of 21.65 mmHg and as many as 37 patients (61.67%) experienced an average reduction in diastolic BP of 13.38 mmHg. The suitability of the patient's blood pressure when leaving the hospital with the target blood pressure according to JNC VIII is 81.67%. Thus the progression of cardiac deterioration in most CHF patients can be inhibited.

Abstract

     Half of the world's population has been affected by dandruff, especially those aged 15 to 50 years. Dandruff is one of the problems on the scalp with common symptoms of scales (exfoliation of dead skin), itching of the scalp and redness around the scalp. Dandruff can be caused by an oily scalp, hormones or fungus. One of the fungi that cause dandruff is Candida albicans. Based on research that has been done, secondary metabolite compounds of methanol extract of peada fruit peel which is a pure white compound in the form of powder are identified as alkaloid compounds. In general, alkaloids can be used as an antifungal. Anti-dandruff shampoo is a dosage that is often used daily and can be used to treat and prevent scalp from excessive dandruff where this shampoo contains active antifungal agents which are effective as an anti-dandruff. Pedada fruit was extracted using multilevel maceration method with methanol as a solvent. Pedada fruit extract shampoo is formulated with variations in extract concentration into 3 formulas. Shampoo was tested for physical properties and effectiveness of anti-dandruff using the Kirby-Bauer Diffusion method with PDA media. From the results obtained it can be concluded that the physical properties of the three formulas of pedada fruit extract shampoo (Sonnerratia caseolaris L) include organoleptic, pH , high foam , cycling test, and viscosity produced good physical properties in accordance with the standard test of the physical properties of shampoo, however Homogeneity test results show that formula III shampoo is less homogeneous. All three shampoo formulas are effective as anti-dandruff against the fungus Candida albicans.

Abstract

Betel  nut (Areca catechu L.) is a natural material that has antibacterial activity in treating diseased on teeth, halitosis and can inhibit of dental caries. The objective of this research is type of bacteria based on morphology, the results of bacterial identification tests on the tongue and to determine the effect of the inhibitory power of betel nut ethanol extract (Areca catechu L.) to bacteria of the tongue. Antibacterial activity testing using disc diffusion method with various concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%. Secondary metabolite contents  are alkaloid, terpenoid and flavonoid.The results obtained from the identification test based on the color of bacteria Branhamella catarrhalis, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Straphylococcus aureus. Ethanol extract of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) is better to inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus compared to Branhamella catarrhalis. Based on Two Way Anova statistical data on inhibitory zone diameters, there were differences between the concentration groups of 10%, 20% and 30% and there were significant differences in the inhibitory activity of Branhamella catarrhalis bacteria compared to Staphylococcus epidermidis and Straphylococcus aureus bacteria but not significantly different between Staphylococcus epidermidis and Straphylococcus aureus bacteria

Abstract

Excessive and prolonged sun exposure can cause erythema and sunburn, premature aging and skin cancer. Kersen leaves contain total flavonoids and phenolics which can be used as active ingredients for making sunscreen lotion. This study was to determine the SPF value, the value of erythema transmission (% Te) and the value of pigmentation Transmission (% Tp) from extracts and lotions of kersen ethanol extract using the Uv-Vis spectrophotometric method. Absorbance increases at wavelengths of 290-400 nm at intervals of 5 nm. The results showed SPF extract values ??with a composition of 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, and 2000 ppm combined - 12 were 12.15 (maximum ability); 17,29 (ultra protection); and 22.01 (ultra protection). % Te value 0.54; 0.16 and 0.05 all include the total block category,% value Tp 2.50; 1.30 and 0.49 (total blocks). Whereas for losio with a concentration of 0.5%, 1% and 2% respectively the SPF value produced is 3.61 (minimum protection); 8.18 (maximum protection) and 10.13 (maximum protection). % Te value 4.29 (extra protection); 1.58 (extra protection) and 0.99 (maximum protection). % value Tp 9.30; 4.22 and 2.80 are all included in the total block category. Abstract

Herbal treatments are needed to treat various diseases, one of which is the leaves of Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.). The aim of this study was to formulate chloroform extract of Belimbing Wuluh?s leaf (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) into gel preparations that were good, effective, and safe to use and to determine the antibacterial activity of chloroform extract of Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) leaf extract to Staphylococcus epidermidis by well method. The results showed that form of gel is a thick, dark green, the distinctive smell of Wuluh starfruit leaf extract, homogeneous, good skin pH, good washing and does not irritate the skin. This study uses Nutrient Agar media as a culture medium for Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The results indicate that the chloroform extract gel leaves of belimbing wuluh leaves in formula 1 (10%), formula 2 (20%), and formula 3 (30%) were able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. In formula 3 (30%) gel extract of belimbing wuluh leaves has the widest zone of inhibition compared to other dosage formulas. The statistical test using the One Way ANOVA test showed a significant difference from the average diameter of the inhibition zone between all concentrations of chloroform extract gel leaves of belimbing wuluh leaves that were significant with (? ? 0.05).

Abstract

Antioxidant-containing cosmetic has antiaging therapy that can inhibit the free radical formation. Mangosteen peel extract has very strong antioxidant activity. To enhance the effect and comfortness of mangosteen peel extract use on the skin, it could be made into nanoemulgel. The article provides the information about method of preparation and evaluation of nanoemulsion-gel. The purpose of this study was to formulate a stable microemulgel of mangosteen peel extractusing halal materials declared halal according to Islamic Shari?a.  the materials used don?t contain carrion, blood, pig and/ animals that don?t conform to Islamic Shari?a. Microemulgel mangosteen peel extract was made by varying plantacare┬« 1200 UP concentration as cosurfactant (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25%) in the microemulsion and it was incorporated into the gel base. Evaluations were included the antioxidant activity test and organoleptic, pH, viscosity, stability, particle size analysis and panelist test. The antioxidant activity determined by DPPH method showed that IC50 value of mangosteen peel extract was 5.54 ppm. The third microemulsion formula containing cosurfactant of 15% resulted in the best results in that the parameter of the product can be penetrated by ray laser was at particle size of  23.65 nm, was determined by tranmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Microemulgel containing Viscolam┬« MAC 10 of seven percent gave the stable formula proofed by freeze thaw and sentrifuga test. The five microemulgel formulations were stable.

Abstract

In an effort to improve the quality of service, patient satisfaction can be measured by the SERVQUAL (SERVICE QUALITY) method by making a comprehensive customer satisfaction assessment survey for services in the field of goods and services that prioritize pharmaceutical services. Customer satisfaction analysis is based on five dimensions of service quality, namely responsiveness, reliability, assurance, empathy, and tangible. The formulation of the problem in this study wanted to find out how patient satisfaction with pharmacy services in clinic X. The purpose of this study was to describe patient satisfaction with pharmacy services in clinic X. Using descriptive quantitative methods to determine the level of patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services using questionnaires as instruments Study data on patient visits were treated at 3 months beginning in 2018 in January 2,970 patients, February 2,868 patients, and March 3,304 patients. Based on data that has been recapitulated in a system by web-based e-SERVQUAL application and its validity has been tested, the percentage of each variable is evenly distributed in the range of 70%, on the dimensions of attitude and appearance. , 20% of patients were satisfied, in the dimension of drug waiting time, 73.90% of patients were satisfied, on the assurance dimension 74.45% of patients were satisfied, on the dimensions of empathy satisfied patients were 73.50%, on the dimensions of facilities and patient facilities were satisfied , 87%. From these results, the patient is satisfied with the overall dimensions of service, the greatest level of satisfaction is in the dimensions of attitude and appearance, and the smallest level of satisfaction is on the dimensions of facilities and facilities, it can be concluded that the percentage of 74.14% is in the predicate satisfied.
