Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the types of dragonflies (Odonata) found in the Klowe Bay Nature Reserve, Enggano sub-district, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province. The study was conducted in the Klowe Bay Nature Reserve, Enggano sub-district, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province in January 2018, which was identified in the Animal Physiology laboratory, Basic Science Biology, University of Bengkulu. by means of purposive sampling by surveying locations in accordance with dragonfly living conditions such as the presence of water and the presence of plants that are habitat for small insects that are food for dragonflies so that 2 points are determined. Dragonflies collected by exploring by swinging the net towards the dragonfly. The sample obtained is put into a killing bottle contains cotton in which the cotton has been given chloroform. The results obtained are 4 types of dragonflies with 15 individuals included in the Anisoptera sub-order. The types obtained include the Libellulidae Family, namely Orthetrum sabina, Pantala flavescens, Crocothemis Servilia, and Orthetrum glaucum.

Abstract

The existence of insects is very abundant and has an important role in the ecosystem. In addition to a very important function in the ecosystem, ants are used as bioindicators in changing the habitat of an area and seeing changes occur in the environment. Ants are commonly found in a variety of habitats, in addition to terrestrial areas ants are found in coastal areas because there are habitats that allow the presence of ants in the form of mangrove vegetation and ecologically, ant nests are scattered from mangrove forests and trees on the coast. This research was conducted on 10 February - 10 March 2016 in the TWA area of Pantai Panjang, Pulau Baai Bengkulu. Use the roaming or xploration method. Each location point to set a trap (pitfall). When installing pitfalls (pitfall) is done at 09.00-11.00 and 14.00-15.00 WIB, by installing ten trap traps (pitfall) for three days. From the results in the field found 10 types of ants from the Order Hymenoptera Family Formicidae. 8 species constitute members of the Subfamily Formicinae including; A.gracilipes, P. longicornis, C. carnelius, Oecophylla sp, P. carbonaria, C. rufipes, Camponotus sp, P. jerdon, two other members of the Dolichoderinae Subfamily; T. melanocephalum, D. thoracicus.

Abstract

The aim of the study is the effect of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions on rice field. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Campus. The N2O gas analysis was conducted at the Laboratory of the Indonesian Agricultural Environment Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture, Central Java. From April to July 2016. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with irrigation classes, namely 5 cm (A1), intermittent / intermittent (A2) plots, and saturated land (A3), divided into three (3) groups with a total of 18 treatments, so that there were 54 plots in total. Observation of N2O gas was chosen at weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8 after planting using a closed lid for 24 hours. N2O gas flux is calculated based on an equation adopted from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The results obtained are the emission of N2O gas produced by maps with air saturation condition of 5 cm from the surface of the land (A3) in the amount of 1564,554 mg N2O / ha / day and the lowest is produced by inundated plots (A1) with a value of 648,996 mg N2O / ha / day. Soil conditions that are inundated during plant growth produce anaerobic soil conditions capable of lifting N2O flux compared to air-saturated conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response given by the red lettuce plant to the provision of nutrients in the form of nutrient solution (AB Mix) on the horizontal installation of the hydroponic system. The study was conducted on December 20, 2017 until February 16, 2018 at the PKK Gardens Education Center in Bengkulu province. Seeding process of Red Lettuce Seedlings is carried out for 14 days then transferred to a net pot at the installation in the Greenhouse. Fertilizers with the Fiora A and B Brands are dissolved to be mixed in a nutrient bath with a capacity of 3000 L with a nutrient density of 500 ppm in the Greenhouse to be distributed to the horizontal installation of the hydroponic system inside the Greenhouse. Then growth observations were carried out on 10 plant samples with parameters of leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, stem height, andstem diameter for 30 days. The results obtained by sample 1-10 have anĀ  average growth and development that is not much different. The maximum leaf length and leaf width parameters are in samples 2 and 3. While the highest number of leaf strands in sample 3 is 22 strands with an average of 18 strands and sample 4 has the highest stem height parameter of 3.5 cm with an average height 2.7 cm. The largest stem diameter in sample 4 is 4.1 cm with an average of 3.38 cm. The response of red lettuce after the last week showed symptoms of leaves that are less red with relatively more withered body.

Abstract

This research was done to know the information about the Population of softshell turtle (A.cartilaginea) in Sababangunan Village-North of Padang Lawas District. The purpose of this study was to find out the growth pattern and the quality of physical-chemical water factor (environment parameters) whos showed river condition supporting life of A.cartilaginea in Sababangunan village-Padang Lawas Utara District. Determination of research location conducted by purposive sampling methode and sampling activity taken by using handsortir method. The analysis of data collect include measurement of morphometric (the range of length carapace, weight of body), the relationship of length-weight , growth pattern, and description of quality of physical-chemical water factor. Results showed the measurements of morphometric A.cartilaginea in range of carapace length were 10.5 - 28.5 cm with the weight of body were 190-1800 gr. The relationship models of carapace length-weights of A.cartilaginea in Sababangunan village were 0,016L2,234174, it?s describe the pattern of growth is allometric negative (b<3). The average value of river water quality conditions is still classified as within the range of tolerance in A.cartilaginea life.

Abstract

Aquaponics is a combined cultivation method between fisheries and plants in one container. Aquaponics constantly use water from fish to plant management and on contrary from plants to fish ponds. In aquaponics, animal excretion is given to plants to be broken down into nitrates and nitrites through natural processes, and utilized by plants as nutrients. The aim of this research was to determine the response of Pakcoy green cabbage (Brassica rapa) to the nutrient solution nutrient (fish droppings) in the aquaponic system. This research was conducted on December 20, 2017 to February 20, 2018. The yield data from green cabbage plants (Brassica rapa) that had been obtained was analyzed using descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, by providing nutrient solutions in the form of fish droppings on green cabbage plants grown using the aquaponic system responds to the symptoms of yellow leaves and the size of small tubers.

Abstract

Serak Jawa (Tyto alba) has a very important role in the natural pest control of rice ecosystems. Serak Jawa (Tyto alba) is used by farmers as biological agents to control rice mice as practiced by farmers of Tlogoweru Village, Guntur District, Demak Regency. This study aims to determine the behavior of Tyto alba in its daily activities using methods scanning-sampling. The number of Serak Jawa observed in captivity was three. Observed factors such as locomotion, flying, perching, eating, drinking, and making noise. Observations were carried out for 12 hours starting at 18:00 WIB until 06:00 WIB for 10 days in captivity Tyto alba at Tlogoweru Village, Guntur, Demak. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the most frequent daily activities carried out by Tyto alba are perching (393.67 minutes), flying (178.93 minutes), locomotion (62.7 minutes), eating (63.7 minutes), drinking (13.2 minutes), and making noise (6.77 minute).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the type of butterfly Papilionidae in the Receiver Zone of the Great Forest Park (GFP) Raja Lelo Bengkulu. The study was conducted in June- August 2017. Determination of the location of the study was conducted using purposive sampling and butterfly collection at each location using the roaming method. Butterfly collection is carried out at 08.00-10.00 WIB and continued in the afternoon at 15.00- 17.00 WIB, on sunny weather using insect nets. The butterflies obtained were taken to the Biology Laboratory of the Basic Science building, then stretched on a stretching board and dried in an oven at 40 0 C. Furthermore, the butterfly sample is identified by the butterfly identification book and grouped by Family, Genus and Species. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed 7 species of Papilionidae butterflies, 74 individuals belonging to 4 genera. The types of butterflies obtained were Graphium agamemnon, Grapihum sarpedon, Pachliopta aristolochiae, Papilio polytes, Papilio memnon, Papilio palinurus, Troides helena.

Abstract

White oyster mushrooms is one of the commercial edible mushrooms, high and prospective economy value as a source of the income of farmers. This fungus can also grow on media that is given the addition of sucrose (sand sugar). Sucrose have the ability in increase of conidia germination and fungal growth. The purposeĀ  of this study was to determine the effect of adding the right dose of sucrose sugar to the growth of white oyster mushroom mycelium. This study used the experiment method. The results obtained from this study were effective doses of sugar in the long growth of oyster mushroom mycelium in F2 seedlings were 40 grams from 4% of growing media with an average growth of 0.67 cm per 2 days, while in seed F3 were 40 grams from 4% of growing media with an average growth of 0.36 cm per 2 days.

Abstract

Mangrove forest in Cagar Alam of Klowe Bay is one of the conservation forest on Enggano Island. Mangroves for serving as an ecological function that can keep from coastal abrasion. Mangroves can also be used as a habitat for water biota, one of which is crustaceans. The aim of this research is identification the types of Crustaceans in Klowe Bay Cagar Alam, Kahyapu Village, Enggano Island, North Bengkulu Regency. This research was conducted in January 2018 with exploration methods and the data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. Based on theresults of the study, obtained 13 species, with the most genera found in Uca. The species found consist of Coenobita violascens, Uca annulipes, Uca boninensis, Uca crassipes, Uca dussumeiri, Uca tetragonon, Uca
