Abstract

Bloodstains is an important body fluids as evidence, because the blood has hemoglobin structure consisting of hemeand polypeptides. Perpetrators will attempt to clean the bloodstain that found at the crime scene by using cleaningagents and chemicals. Sodium hypochlorite is a chemical that found in cleaning fluids and bleach. This study aims toknow the effects of sodium hypochlorite to bloodstain and confirmatory test. Bloodstain on the objeck glasses andthe fabrics exposed by sodium hypochlorite concentration 5,25% and 0,15%, and examined with Teichmann?s testand Takayama?s test, and seen under microscope. In this study, show no crystal hemoglobin of the bloodstain on theobjeck glasses and fabrics exposed by sodium hypochlorite concentration 5.25% and concentration 0,15%. Thismight caused by sodium hypochlorite destructed structure of heme, so there were no reaction between heme, sodiumchloride and acetat glacial acids on Teichmann?s test and no reaction between heme and Takayama?s reagen onTakayama?s test. The conclusions of this study, crystal hemoglobin were not found on bloodstain exposed by sodiumhypochloryte using Teichmann?s test and Takayama?s test.

Abstract

Health Care Associated Infection (HCAI) is one of the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in hospital and otherhealth care facilitiy. Hand hygiene is the main way to reduce incidence of HCAI. World Health Organization (WHO)recommends alcohol-based handrub because it is more acceptable and tolerable than other hand hygiene products.WHO has identified formulations for the local preparation. This was a descriptive study aimed to determine theacceptability and tolerability of WHO recommended handrub formulation. The subjects of the study were 40 seniorclerkships in Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province, from Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Internal MedicineDepartment. Each respondent was given WHO-recommended handrub formulation used for three days. On the firstday, the observer distributed handrubs being tested. After 3 days of consecutive use of the product, participantscompleted the questionnaire and the observer evaluate the condition of participants? hands. We used WHO?squestionnaire to evaluate acceptability and tolerability level. The results of this study showed that WHO-recommendedhandrub formulation had good acceptability for its application, colour, smell, irritation, ease of use, speed of drying, and overall evaluation but had a less rate of acceptability for its textures and drying effect. WHO-recommendedhandrub formulation had good tolerability.

Abstract

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)in head injury is a very common case. Research showed that 33% moderate andsevere head injury patients had SAH during initial CT scan. A prospective study was performed on 37 head injurypatients with SAH which had been treated in Arifin Achmad Hospital during January to June 2014 period. Bivariableanalysis that was used in this research was an unpaired categorical analytic statistical test, the chi square test. Meanwhile, multivariable analysis used was multiple logistic regression test. Significance was determined based on p value, which was d?0.05, and confidence interval (CI) of 95%. There were unfavourable outcome upon head injury patientswith SAH of >5mm thickness (p=0,028) and located at cerebral hemisphere and basal cistern (p=0,001). Thicknessand SAH location was found to be associated with head injury patient outcome. SAH thickness of > 5mm againstoutcome had a stronger association than location as a factor.

Children living around river have higher risk to get helminthes infection. The aim of this study was to determine theprevalence and intensity of helminthes infection and its risk factors for children living around Siak River in KelurahanPesisir, Kecamatan Limapuluh, Pekanbaru. A cross-sectional study conducted in September to November 2008, and 65children participated. Stool were examined using the Kato-Katz technique and the intensity of infections was categorizedinto: light, moderate, or heavy. The parent of children was asked to fill the questionnaire. Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety in children undergoing surgery is characterized by subjective feeling of tension, apprehension, nervousness and worry that may be expressed in various forms. Clonidine, an alpha 2-adrenoceptor agonist, has beenshown to be as a preanesthetic medication in childrens. The current study was designed to investigate the differencesof level sedation clonidine syrup and diazepam syrup as a premedicant in children. Methods: In a randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trial, 40 children, aged 2-12 yr, undergoing electivesurgery received 2 micrograms/kg clonidine syrup or 0.4 mg/kg diazepam syrup orally. These agents were administered120 min before the estimated time of induction of general anesthesia and noted the children?s level of sedation. Thelevel of sedation were compared among the two groups. PASS <1 demanded rescue intravenous sedation.Result: Clonidine syrup 2 mcg/kgBB provided better quality of sedation after 60 min of premedicant but it wasn?tsignificant(1.8±0.92) and diazepam syrup (0.80±0.89; p>0.05) and number of patients with rescue intravenous diazepamacceptance were same both clonidine group compared to diazepam, there was no significant difference between twogroups, 10% of clonidine group patients, 10 % of diazepam group patients (p>0.05). No clinically significanthypotension or bradycardia was observed after preanesthetic medications of diazepam and clonidine syrup.Discussion: These data indicate that, even in pediatric surgery, the 2 micrograms/kg syrup clonidine is an effectivepremedication. However, the safety and optimal dose of clonidine in this setting remain to be determined.
