Abstract

ABSTRACT The potential of oil palm frond as feed ingredients to improve the sheep complete dry matter and organic matterdigestibility. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of palm midrib fermentation with various levels Biomol + in the feed dry matter digestibility and organic matter . The experiment was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra in December to February 2014 .Experiment design used in this is a completely randomized design ( CRD ) with 4 treatments . This treatment consists of P0 :( without Biomol + ) ; P1( Biomol + 5 % ) ; P2( Biomol+ 10 % ) ; P3( Biomol + 15 %). The results showed the average faecal digestibility of dry matter at P0 56.41 ; P1 56.48 ; P2 57.56 ; and P3 58.49 . The mean organic matter digestibility, 59.94 P0 treatment; P1 60.29; P2 61.38; and P3 62.17. Keywords : Palm Midrib , Fermentation , Microbial , Digestibility , Local Ram. ABSTRAK SARI PUTRI, 2014 ?Penggunaan Pelepah Kelapa Sawit Fermentasi dengan Berbagai Level Biomol+ pada Pakan Terhadap Kecernaan Domba Lokal Jantan. Dibimbing oleh ARMYN HAKIM DAULAY selaku ketua komisi pembimbing dan USMAN BUDI selaku anggota komisi pembimbing. Potensi pelepah kelapa sawit sebagai bahan baku pakan komplit domba untuk meningkatkan kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan pelepah kelapa sawit fermentasi dengan berbagai level biomol+ pada pakan terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan bahan organik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Fakultas PertanaianUnivesitas Sumatera Utara padabulan Desember sampai dengan Februari 2014. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitaian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan. Perlakuan ini terdiriatas P0 (tanpa biomol+); P1 (biomol+ 5%); P2 (biomol+ 10%); P3 (biomol+ 15%). Hasil penelitian menunjukan rataan kecernaan bahan kering feses pada P0 56.41; P1 56.48; P2 57.56; dan P3 58.49. Rataan kecernaan bahan organik, perlakuan P0 59.94; P1 60.29; P2 61.38; dan P3 62.17. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to examine the effect utilization of oil palm frond fermented with various Biomol+ level in the feed to a local male sheep carcass. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Biology, Animal Husbandry Program Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara in December through March 2014 using 12 weaning local male sheep with an average initial weight of 7.14 ±  0,6 kg. The design used in the study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications and further tested by least significant difference (LSD). Treatment consists of P0: fermentation without Biomol+, P1: fermentation with 5% Biomol+, P2: fermentation with 10% Biomol+, P3: fermentation with 15% Biomol+. The results showed the average empty weight (kg/head) for treatment P0, P1, P2, and P3 were 6,6, 6,67, 7,31, and 10,11. Average carcass weight (kg/head) 2,43, 2,54, 2,81, and 3,93. Average carcass percentages (%) 36,85, 38,05, 38,46 and 38,74. Average sucutaneous fat percentage (%) 4,52, 2,83, 1,88, and 2,05. Average pelvic fat percentage (%) 0,15, 0,16, 0,14, and 0,11. Average kidney fat percentage (%) 1,44, 1,19, 1,27, and 0,88. Average heart fat percentage (%) 0,70, 0,67, 0,56, and 0,46. The conclusion of this study is utilization of oil palm frond fermented with various biomol+ level in the feed very significant effect on raise the empty body weight and carcass weight, significant effect on average subcutaneous fat percentage but no significant effect on carcass percentage, average pelvic fat percentage, average kidney fat percentage, and average heart fat percentage. Keywords: Oil Palm Frond Fermented, Biomol+, Carcass, Local Male Sheep.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan pelepah kelapa sawit fermentasi dengan berbagai level biomol+ pada pakan terhadap karkas domba lokal jantan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Biologi Ternak Program Studi Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara pada bulan Desember sampai dengan Maret 2014 menggunakan 12 ekor domba lokal jantan lepas sapih dengan rata-rata bobot awal 7,14±0,6 kg/ekor. Rancangan yang dipakai dalam penelitian adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan                         4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan dan diuji lanjut dengan beda nyata terkecil (BNT). Perlakuan terdiri dari P0: fermentasi tanpa biomol, P1: fermentasi dengan 5% biomol+, P2: fermentasi dengan 10% biomol+, P3: fermentasi dengan 15% biomol+. Parameter yang diteliti adalah bobot tubuh kosong, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, lemak subkutan, lemak ginjal, lemak pelvis, lemak jantung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rataan bobot tubuh kosong dengan perlakuan P0, P1, P2,dan P3 (kg/ekor) 6,6, 6,67, 7,31, dan 10,11. Rataan bobot karkas (kg/ekor) 2,43, 2,54, 2,81, dan 3,93. Rataan persentase karkas (%) 36,85, 38,05, 38,46, dan 38,74. Rataan persentase lemak subkutan (%) 4,52, 2,83, 1,88, dan 2,05. Rataan persentase lemak pelvis (%) 0,15, 0,16, 0,14, dan 0,11. Rataan persentase lemak ginjal 1,44, 1,19, 1,27, dan 0,88. Rataan persentase lemak jantung (%) 0,70, 0,67, 0,56, dan 0,46. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan pelepah kelapa sawit fermentasi dengan berbagai level biomol memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata terhadap bobot tubuh kosong, bobot karkas dan berpengaruh nyata terhadap persentase lemak subkutan, akan tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap persentase lemak karkas, persentase lemak pelvis, persentase lemak ginjal dan persentase lemak jantung.   Kata kunci : Pelepah Kelapa Sawit Fermentasi, Biomol+, Karkas, Domba Lokal Jantan

Abstract

Abstract : Scabies is one of the decreasing factor on ruminants growth, especially in goat. The expensiveness and the difficulties to get the scabies medicines in the rural area becomes the major problem for the traditional goat breeder. This research using Neem leaves extract (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) was chosen as an alternative solutions for it. The experiment was conducted in Loka Penelitian Kambing Potong Sei Putih, Kecamatan Galang, from February to April 2012, using posttest only control group design. The exploratory test was done by applying five concentration of neem leaves extract (0%; 25%; 50%; 75%; and 100%) with four replications each. The full scale test was using six treatments (0%; 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%) with four replications each. 10 Sarcoptes scabiei mites were used for each replications. Parameters measured are mite mortality number, rate of mite mortality number, and lethal concentration. The results showed there were increasing on mite mortality numbers in each treatment, where the LC50 value is 13,18%. The results indicated that Neem Leaves Extract is an effective scabicide for Sarcoptes scabiei mite In Vitro. Key words : Scabicide, Sarcoptes scabiei, Azadirachta indica A. Juss

Abstract

ABSTRACT AMELIA NOVAIZA: Utilization of coffee flesh pod urea amoniased in sheep ration in Concentrate  on Carcas of weaned sheep. Under the guidance of ARMYN HAKIM DAULAY as chairman and ISKANDAR SEMBIRING as commission member. The purpose of this research for see potential about the utilization of diamonized coffee flesh pod in sheep Concentrate  on Carcas of weaned sheep. The research was done in Laboratory of Animal Biology Department of Animal science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera for 3 months from 20 August 2010 to 11 November 2010. The research methodology used 20 male sheeps  with average inisial body weight 13.80 ± 1, 27 kg and using completely randomized design (CRD)method which consist of 4 treatments and 5 replication. The level of the concentrate which was given to diamonized coffee flesh pod is P0 (the concentrate given on non-diamonized coffee flesh pod is 30%), P1 (concentrate with coffe thear pod urea amoniased 15%), P2 (concentrate with coffe thear pod urea amoniased 30%), P3 (concentrate with coffe thear pod urea amoniased 45%). The result this research such as : empty body weight (kg/tail) data P0 = 12.74, P1 = 13:16, P2 = 13.00, P3 = 12.99, percentage of carcass data P0 = 49.19, P1 = 54.26, P2 = 53.79, P3 = 47.92, subcutaneous fat percentage data P0 = 1.91, P1 = 2.03, P2 = 1.95, P3 = 1.51, heart fat percentage data = 4:55 P0, P1 = 4.72, P2 = 4.25, P3 = 4.38, kidney fat percentage data P0 = 3.79, P1 = 4.05, P2 = 3.96, P3 = 3.68, data pelvic fat percentage P0 = 3.47, P1 = 3.70, P2 = 3.49, P3 = 3.27 all of the treatment effect is not real. Abstract

ABSTRACT Curd is kind of  the probiotic fermentation food contained high level of nutrition. It is easy to be digested and be absorbed by body. This study investigated the effect of packaging which were without packaging, flexibel packaging and cup packaging as packaging stuff of curd on its organoleptic properties and its acceptability. This research is conducted in Silangit Village, Siborong-borong Sub District Tapanuli Utara District started in December 2011 until April 2012. The research was used a compeletely random design with one factor that is fermentation time (7 days). The organoleptic properties and acceptability of curd were measured by Friedman test. LSD (Least Significant Difference) test was used to compare the significant difference. The research showed that the using of different packaging stuff of curd were affecting its organoleptic properties, such as color, aroma, taste, and compactness. However, there was a difference ini their texture properties. The sing of flexibel packaging showed the highest level of panelist acceptance, value of benefit cost ratio showed 1.82. Abstract

Abstrac: The research was conducted in Biology Laboratory of agricultural faculty university of north sumatera, Medan from October 2011 until January 2012. Investigate economic anaysis of fermented caco pod (Theobrama cacao L.) by rumen fluid on ongole crossbred cattle pattening. Methodology which was used  Latin Square design with 4 treatments. Treatments are P0 (0% of fermented pod cacao), P1 (10% of fermented pod cacao), P2 (20% of fermented pod cacao), P3 (30% of fermented pod cacao). The results showed that on average profit / loss the was at highest at P0 of Rp. 527 405,- and the lowest was on P3 of Rp. 426 786,-. Average benefit cost ratio (B/C) was highest at P0 of 1.10, and 1.07 for the smallest at P3. Average Break Event Point (BEP) BEP which consist of the highest production rates was on P3 of Rp. 23 375,- as the highest and the lowest at P0 of Rp. 23 016,-. Average BEP highest production volume was of 239 kg on P2 and P0 for the smallest at 234 kg. Average income over feed cost (IOFC) was highest at P0 Rp. 597 718, P3and lowest at Rp. 476 339, -. Average return on investment (ROI) the highest of 11.80% at P0, and the smallest at 7.94% in P3. As conclusion wast that the use of fermented cacao pod with rumen fluid in cows given Ongole crossbred male fattening give benefits and could be used for the cattle business. Abstract

Abstract.This research aims to determine the effect of rice straw consumed awarding with the EM-4 on the feed consumption, average daily gain and feed conversion in Sungei Putih Lambs. Research carried out in the Laboratory of Animal Biologi at Faculty of Agriculture, Jalan Prof. A Sofyan No 3, University of North Sumatera, Medan, starting August 2011 to January 2012. The design used in this  research was Latin Square Design consisting of 4 treatments with an initial body weight 12.79 kg ±0.20 kg. The treatment consists of P0 (concentrate +rice straw without the EM-4), P1 (concentrate+rice straw +2cc EM-4), P2 (concentrate+rice straw +4cc EM-4), P3 (concentrate+rice straw +6cc EM-4). The results showed that the Utilization of Rice Straw (Oriza sativa) are consumed with the EM-4 on The Growth Sungei Putih Lambs of feed consumption (g/head/day) 643.11; 719.18; 696.57 and 671.89, respectively. The average daily gain (g/head/day) 25,42; 40.48; 31.25 and 30.42 respectively. feed conversion rate (FCR) 25.94; 18.00; 23.99 and 22.97 respectively. Statistically shows that the utilization of the rice straw consumed with the EM-4 is not significantly different (P>0.05) on feed intake, average daily gain and feed conversion of  sungei putih lambs. The conclusion of this research that the utilization of Rice Straw (Oriza sativa) with various levels EM-4 not significant influence on feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion rate (FCR) of sungei putih lambs.   Keywords: Effective Microorganisms-4 (EM-4), Rice Straw, Performance, Sungei Putih Lambs.

Abstract

Palm kernel cake as one of potential alternative feed stuff that contain good enough nutritions. Palm kernel cake has a high content of crude fiber, so, it needs to be treated to improve quality. Used of hemicell on palm kernel cake is expected to decrease crude fiber content of palm kernel cake, which can improve the quality of rations and improve nitrogen retention, energy metabolism and conversion energy nitrogen metabolism corrected from gross energy on Raja duck. Rations used were homemade. Research design used complete randomized design with five  treatments and four replications. R0 (without palm kernel cake which is mixed with hemicell), R1 (5% palm kernel cake which is mixed with hemicell), R2 (10% palm kernel cake which is mixed with hemicell), R3 (15% palm kernel cake which is mixed with hemicell), R4 (20 palm kernel cake which is mixed with hemicell). The observed of parameters are average digestible of crude fiber, retention nitrogen and metabolism energy on Raja duck. The results showed that the treatments give not significant differenc (P<0,05) of retention nitrogen, metabolisme energy and conversion energy nitrogen metabolisme corrected from gross energy on Raja duck feed. The use of palm kernel cake were given hemicell 2 cc/kg  can given to the level of 20% as the material ration raja duck 7 week age. Abstract

Abstrac: Fermented cacao pod wit rumen fluid can be increase the comsumtion and digestibility of dry mater and organic mater. The objective of this research to determine the effect of various level of cacao Fruit Leather (Theobrama cacao L.). Fermented with rumen fluid in concentrate on feed comsumption an digestibility of dry matter and organic material in ongole crossbred cattle. The design used in this study is Latin Square Design (LSD) with 4 treatments. The treatments consist of PO (without cacao pod fermented); P1 (10% cacao pod fermented in concentrate); P2 (20% cacao pod fermented in concentrate). The result of this research showed that the average dry matter consumption (kg/head/day) 7.78; 7.83; 7.95; and 7.87, respectively. Average consumption of organic matter (kg/head/day) 7.43; 7.38; 7.51; 7.44. Average dry matter digestibility 67.59; 66.73; 67.52; and 66.68. Average organic matter digestibility 66.57; 65.94; 66.27; and 65.77. Statiscally shows that the utilization of cacao pod fermented with rumen fluid  not significantly different (P>0.05) on dry matter intake, consumption of organic matter, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility of ongole crossbred. The conclution of this research that utilization of cacao pod fermented by rumen fluid can be giving  on ongole cattle crossbred. Abstract

ABSTRACT GEMA PIRNGADI GULTOM, "Digestibility Rice Straw Fermented by Probiotics Starbio to Local Male Sheep" Guided by TRI Hesti WAHYUNI and NEVY DIANA HANAFI. The experiment was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra in April 2012 - October 2012. Rice straw fermentation by probiotok Starbio can increase consumption, digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. This study aimed to determine the effect of the level of utilization of rice straw fermented with probiotok Starbio the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter digestibility local sheep ram. The design used in this study is a Latin square design (RBSL) with 4 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment consists of P0 (unfermented rice straw), P1 (0.4 kg + 0.4 kg urea Starbio / 100 kg rice straw), P2 (0.6 kg + 0.6 kg urea Starbio / 100 kg rice straw) and P3 (0.8 kg + 0.8 kg urea Starbio / 100 kg rice straw). The results showed the average dry matter intake (g / head / day) 467.06; 465.72; 489.52 and 481.1 respectively. Average consumption of organic material (g / head / day) 391.49; 391.05; 412.92 and 403.65 respectively. Mean dry matter digestibility 47.57; 46.59; 50.07 and 49.17 respectively. Mean organic matter digestibility 83.59; 80.32; 81.90 and 82.56 respectively. Statistical analysis showed that administration of different levels of fermented rice straw probiotok Distinct Starbio no significant effect on consumption of dry matter, organic matter intake, digestibility of dry matter and organic matter digestibility local sheep ram.
