Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of the discovery learning model combined with Jig-saw II on the students? information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes. The study was a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects were 134 high school students divided into one group given discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II and 3 control groups given discovery learning, Jigsaw II, or conventional learning model. The experiment showed that the discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II resulting in significant differences in students? information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes with Fvalue = 13.935 (p < 0.05) on information literacy F value = 6.527 (p < 0.05) on cognitive learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II significantly improved students? information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes.Key Words: discovery learning, jigsaw II, information literacy, cognitive learning outcomesAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning dipadu Jigsaw II terhadap literasi informasi dan hasil belajar kognitif. Penelitian merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek yang digunakan yaitu siswa SMA sebanyak 134 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai F sebesar 13,935 dan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,000<0,05 pada literasi informasi dan F sebesar 6,527 dan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,000<0,05 pada hasil belajar kognitif. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan literasi informasi dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang menjalani model pembelajaran discovery learning dipadu Jigsaw II.Kata kunci: discovery learning, jigsaw II, literasi informasi, hasil belajar kognitif

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the attitudes and discipline of secondary school students in Indonesia and its correlation between those two characters. This was a survey study with total sampling technique of 612 respondents. The grade of discipline and attitutes were measured according to Lickert scale, while the correlation between discipline and attitude was analyzed using Pearson correlation calculation. Based on the results of the study, both the attitude and the discipline of students towards science is good. This research also revealed a significant positive correlation between students? attitudes and discipline. Grade 7th showing the strongest correlation, and it is decreasing by the grade, with the weakest was showed by grade 9th. Key Words: attitude towards science, discipline toward science, secondary school studentsAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau sikap dan kedisiplinan siswa tingkat sekolah menengah di Indonesia serta hubungan dua karakter tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan survei dengan mengambil sampel sebanyak 612. Tingkat kedisiplinan dan sikap diukur berdasarkan skala Lickert, sedangkan korelasi antara disiplin dan sikap dianalisis menggunakan perhitungan korelasi Pearson. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, sikap dan disiplin siswa terhadap sains menunjukkan hasil yang baik. Penelitian ini juga mengungkapkan korelasi positif yang signifikan antara sikap dan disiplin siswa. Korelasi terkuat terdapat pada siswa kelas 7, dan menurun berdasarkan tingkatan kelas, dengan korelasi yang terlemah pada kelas 9.Kata kunci: sikap terhadap sains, disiplin terhadap sains, siswa sekolah menengah

Abstract

Abstract: Chemical equilibrium knowledge has many abstract concepts that often lead to alternative conceptions and misconceptions. One way that can be used to find out students? conceptions is to identify their mental models.The purpose of this study was to investigate students? mental models in understanding knowledge of chemical equilibrium. This study applied a survey research design. The subjects were 12thgrade high school students consisting of 181 students distributed into 5 classes. Da-ta was collected through a written test using the Mental Models Test on Chemical Equilibrium (M2T-CE) consisting of 18 two-tier multiple choice items. Data analysis was performed by categorizing stu-dent? mental models into initial, synthetic and scientific mental models. The results showed that 51.60% of respondents had a scientific mental model, 23.52% of them had a synthetic mental model, and 24.88% of others had an initial mental model. Whereas the respondents? average score of chemical equilibrium mental models was 63.36 from a maximum score of 100. This score belongs to the good category.Key Words: initial mental models, synthetic mental models, scientific mental models, chemical equilibriumAbstrak: Pengetahuan kesetimbangan kimia memiliki banyak konsep abstrak yang sering mengarah pada konsepsi alternative dan kesalahpahaman. Salah satu cara yang dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui konsepsi siswa adalah untuk mengidentifikasi model mental mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki model mental siswa dalam memahami pengetahuan tentang kesetimbangan kimia. Penelitian menggunakan desain penelitian survei. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa SMA kelas 12 yang terdiri dari 181 siswa yang didistribusikan ke dalam 5 kelas. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis menggunakan Tes Model Mental pada Kesetimbangan Kimia (M2T-CE) yang terdiri dari 18 item pilihan ganda dua tingkat. Analisis data dilakukan dengan mengelompokkan model mental siswa ke dalam model mental awal, sintetis dan ilmiah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 51,60% responden memiliki model mental ilmiah, 23,52% dari mereka memiliki model mental sintetik, dan 24,88% lainnya memiliki model mental awal. Sedangkan skor rata-rata responden dari model mental kesetimbangan kimia adalah 63,36 dari skor maksimum 100. Skor ini termasuk dalam kategori baik.Kata kunci: model mental awal, model mental sintetik, model mental ilmiah, kesetimbangan kimia

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the level of geometrical thinking of Vocational High School students based on Van Hielle's theory in terms of gender differences. This study used a qualitative approach involving six students of Vocational High School as research subjects consisting of three male students and three female students with different mathematical abilities. The results of this study state that there is no striking difference between the level of geometrical thinking of male and female students who are the subject of research, i.e. all are at the level of thinking one (analysis). Likewise, when viewed from different mathematical abilities, it turns out to be apparent at the level of thinking one, except for one student in the moderate mathematics ability degree who is at the level of zero thinking (visual) because this subject has a low geometry thinking ability. The ideal level of thinking for vocational high school students, the level of thinking two (Abstraction), is not reached. In addition, the lower the level of mathematical ability, the less the indicator is satisfied at the same level of thinking.Key Words: geometrical thinking ability, Van Hiele's theory, gender differenceAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat berpikir geometri siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan berdasarkan teori Van Hielle ditinjau dari perbedaan jenis kelamin. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melibatkan enam siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan sebagai subjek penelitian yang terdiri atas tiga siswa putra dan tiga siswa putri dengan kemampuan matematika berbeda. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang mencolok antara tingkat berpikir geometri siswa putra dan putri yang menjadi subjek penelitian, yaitu semua berada pada tingkat berpikir satu (analisis). Demikian juga jika ditinjau dari kemampuan matematikanya berbeda ternyata semua pada tingkat berpikir satu, kecuali pada seorang siswa kelompok kemampuan matematika sedang yang berada pada tingkat berpikir nol (visual) karena subjek ini memiliki kemampuan berpikir geometri rendah. Tingkat berpikir ideal untuk siswa seusia Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan, yaitu tingkat berpikir dua (Abstraksi) tidak tercapai dan semakin rendah tingkat kemampuan matematikanya semakin berkurang indikator yang terpenuhi pada tingkat berpikir yang sama.Kata kunci: tingkat berpikir geometri, teori Van Hiele, perbedaan jenis kelamin

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to uncover correlation between critical thinking skills and student achievement and the contributions of critical thinking skills on student achievement through learning Biology using genetic teaching material that developed based on learning cycle 5E model. This research used correlational design. The population of this research was all of student grade XII-IPA at state senior high school. The sample were student of class XII-IPA3 that consist of 30 students. The result showed that there is correlation between critical thinking skills and student achievement in Biology learning using genetic teaching material that developed based on learning cycle 5E model with the regression equation Y = 0,511X?35,271. Based on the value R square analysis showed that critical thinking skills gives contribution 55,2% on student achievement.Key Words: critical thinking skills, student achievement, learning cycle 5E, genetic teaching materialsAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan hasil belajar siswa SMA serta sumbangan keterampilan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar dalam pembelajaran Biologi menggunakan bahan ajar genetika berbasis learning cycle 5E. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian korelasional. Populasi adalah seluruh siswa kelas XII IPA di SMA Negeri. Sampel adalah siswa kelas XII IPA 3 yang terdiri dari 30 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran Biologi menggunakan bahan ajar genetika berbasis learning cycle 5E dengan persamaan regresi hubungan kedua variabel adalah Y = 0,511X ? 35,271. Berdasarkan nilai R2 diketahui sumbangan keterampilan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar siswa sebesar 55,2%.Kata kunci: keterampilan berpikir kritis, hasil belajar, learning cycle 5E, bahan ajar genetika

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe students? mathematical connection of rational type students in solving mathematics problem. The research data was obtained by analyzing the answer sheets and interview of two subjects based on mathematical connection indicators. The results show the process of mathematical connection in everyday life that students do with rational personality type is complete. However, different results are found that in the connection between mathematical concepts and mathematical process connection processes as the equivalent representation of students with rational personality types is not yet complete.Key Words: mathematical connection, rational personality typesAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan koneksi matematis siswa bertipe kepribadian rasional dalam memecahkan masalah Matematika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari lembar jawaban dan wawancara terhadap dua subjek kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan indikator koneksi matematis. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa subjek menunjukkan koneksi Matematika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari secara lengkap. Namun hasil berbeda ditemukan bahwa proses koneksi antar konsep Matematika dan proses koneksi prosedur Matematika sebagai representasi yang ekivalen dari siswa dengan tipe kepribadian rasional adalah belum lengkap.Kata kunci: koneksi matematis, tipe kepribadian rasional

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the conceptual error of high school students about the hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy. The design of this research was descriptive. Data were collected through multiple choice tests of four questions. The test was given to 64 high school students who had taken static fluid material. The test results were analyzed using percentage techniques. The results showed that the highest error experienced by students was in applying the concept of hydrostatic pressure (as much as 90.63% of students) followed by errors in analyzing the relationship between buoyancy force and the volume of objects immersed (as much as 87.50%). To sum up, two major misconceptions of students are about the notion that the hydrostatic pressure is influenced by the closed container and the volume of water and the buoyancy is proportional to depth and inversely proportional to the volume of the immersed object.Key Words: buoyancy, error, hydrostatic pressureAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan siswa SMA tentang konsep tekanan hidrostatik dan gaya apung. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pilihan ganda sebanyak empat soal. Tes diberikan pada 64 siswa SMA yang telah menempuh materi fluida statik. Hasil tes tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teknik persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan tertinggi siswa adalah dalam menerapkan konsep tekanan hidrostatik (sebanyak 90,63% siswa) diikuti dengan kesalahan dalam menganalisis hubungan antara gaya apung dan volume benda tercelup (sebanyak 87,50%). Simpulan penelitian adalah kesalahan konsep tekanan hidrostatik yang dialami siswa, yaitu tekanan hidrostatik dipengaruhi oleh wadah tertutup dan volume air. Kesalahan konsep gaya apung yang dialami siswa, yaitu gaya apung sebanding kedalaman dan berbanding terbalik dengan volume benda yang tercelup.Kata kunci: gaya apung, kesalahan, tekanan hidrostatik

Abstract

Abstract: This paper with more focus on how public awareness of Business Technical Vocational Education and Training (BTVET) programs can improve the image and attitude of education stakeholders towards BTVET education system. Applying thematic review qualitative approach with secondary data from Ugandan government units and other international organization accessed through online internet search engines, this paper highlights TVET status, and its challenges in Uganda. The results indicate: most graduates lack appropriate skills and competence required in the labor market as well as entrepreneurship skills for job creation. With reference to Philippine?s success story, we suggest possible strategies applicable to popularize the gospel of TVET, its roles as mitigation measure towards youth unemployment and poverty among the marginalized and disadvantaged groups in the country. Key Words: public sensitization, TVET awareness, education reform, youth unemployment, Ugandan education system, Uganda BTVETAbstrak: Tulisan ini lebih fokus pada bagaimana kesadaran masyarakat terhadap program Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Kejuruan Teknik Bisnis (BTVET) dapat meningkatkan kesan dan sikap para pemangku kepentingan pendidikan terhadap sistem pendidikan BTVET. Dengan menerapkan pendekatan tinjauan tematik kualitatif dengan data sekunder dari unit pemerintah dan organisasi internasional yang diakses melalui mesin pencari online, penelitian ini menyoroti status TVET, dan tantangannya di Uganda. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar lulusan minim akan keterampilan kewirausahaan untuk penciptaan lapangan kerja. Mengacu pada kisah sukses Filipina, kami menyarankan strategi yang mungkin untuk mempopulerkan pendidikan TVET, perannya sebagai langkah mitigasi terhadap kemiskinan dan pengangguran di antara kelompok-kelompok yang terpinggirkan dan kurang beruntung di negara ini.Kata kunci: sensitisasi publik, kesadaran TVET, reformasi pendidikan, pengangguran kaum muda, sistem pendidikan Uganda, BTVET Uganda

Abstract

Abstract: Cognitive learning outcomes are learning outcomes that focus on intellectual knowledge. Some researches showed that the students learning outcomes of high school in Malang were still need improved. The study aims to determine the effect of the RICOSRE learning model in improving students? cognitive learning outcomes. This type of research is quasi experiment, using students of SMAN 1 Malang, SMAN 8 Malang, SMAN 1 Turen, and SMAN 1 Singosari as participants. Data analysis used covariance analysis then followed by post hoc test of LSD. The results of the analysis show that the RICOSRE learning model can improve students? cognitive learning outcomes compared to learning using Problem Based Learning and conventional learning.Key Words: cognitive learning outcomes, RICOSRE learning modelAbstrak: Hasil belajar kognitif merupakan pencapaian belajar yang berada pada domain yang berfokus pada pengetahuan dan keahlian intelektual. Berbagai hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum hasil belajar siswa SMA di Malang masih perlu ditingkatkan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran RICOSRE dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa di Malang, Jawa Timur. Jenis penelitian adalah kuasi eksperimen, dengan menggunakan partisipan siswa di SMAN 1 Malang, SMAN 8 Malang SMAN 1 Turen, dan SMAN 1 Singosari. Analisis data menggunakan analisis kovarian kemudian dilanjutkan uji lanjut LSD. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan model pembelajaran RICOSRE dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa dibandingkan pembelajaran menggunakan Problem Based Learning dan pembelajaran konvensional.Kata kunci: hasil belajar kognitif, model pembelajaran RICOSRE

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to determine the validity of orchid diversity atlas in the Plant Diversity course for Biology Education students. This research was a development research that referred to ADDIE development model which was limited to the stage of Develop phase. The validity of atlas products was obtained from subject matters expert, media expert and field testing. While for practicality, it can be seen from student responses. The results showed the mean results of the subject matter expert validation score was 97.84%, media validation was 98.75%, field testing was 94%, and student responses was 94%. To sum up, this diversity atlas is valid and practical for plant diversity course. Key Words: orchid diversity atlas, ADDIE development model, plant diversity courseAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kevalidan produk atlas keanekaragaman anggrek pada matakuliah Keanekaragaman Tumbuhan untuk mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian dan pengembangan yang mennggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yang dibatasi sampai tahap Develop. Kevalidan produk atlas diuji berdasarkan hasil skor validasi dari ahli materi, media, dan praktisi lapangan, sedangkan untuk kepraktisan dapat diuji dari respon mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata hasil skor validasi materi memiliki nilai persentase 97,84%, validasi media 98,75%, praktisi lapangan 94%, dan respon mahasiswa 94%. Simpulan penelitian adalah produk atlas keanekaragaman anggrek valid dan praktis digunakan mahasiswa dalam matakuliah Keanekara-gaman Tumbuhan.Kata kunci: atlas keanekaragaman anggrek, model pengembangan ADDIE, matakuliah keanekaragaman tumbuhan
